    First stay in 15 years

I stayed at this Hotel for the first time in 15 years, bringing our two children—after having visited back when I was dating my husband. In the meantime, we’ve stayed at many foreign-owned Hotels and brand-new, sparkling properties, but this visit reminded me once again how wonderful the sense of comfort and reassurance at The Busena Terrace truly is. Times have changed, so there are more international staff members working here than before, and the breakfast buffet can feel lively due to inbound tourism—those aspects are different from the past. Still, at this price point, I’m truly grateful to enjoy a well-maintained Facility, high-quality meals, and warm hospitality. At check-in, it left a strong impression that every staff member knelt down to speak at the guest’s eye level while explaining everything. With valet parking as well, each time we were greeted with “Thank you for your hard work” and “Welcome back,” which helped ease the fatigue from long drives. It was also heartwarming to see housekeeping staff wearing training badges earnestly learning from their supervisors. The beach was just as beautiful as it was 15 years ago. No more straying (haha)—whenever we come to Okinawa, I plan to stay at The Busena Terrace.

    Disappointing Stay

The rice served at the BBQ tasted like a cheaper variety. The Agu pork was excellent, but the sirloin was tough, and our kids—who know what Japanese Black Wagyu is like—ended up saying, “Huh?! It’s tough!?” Assuming it would be fine because it’s The Busena Terrace backfired. At the pool, parents aren’t necessarily watching their children closely at all times, but we were warned that we needed to stay right next to them in the water. Honestly, it didn’t help us recover from city fatigue. Many staff members still don’t speak much Japanese, and it felt like mistakes could happen unless we anticipated things and rephrased ourselves. On departure day, a staff member came over to help load our luggage into the car; when I said, “The dryer hasn’t finished yet,” they disappeared without saying anything. We were expecting top-tier service and hospitality, but in that respect the staff at our Hotel in Naha the next day were better. It was disappointing to see how much burden seems to fall on the Japanese-speaking staff. Also, since the pool opens from 9:00 a.m., it felt a bit late. I was truly impressed that someone brought an item we forgot at the BBQ venue all the way to our Room, but I don’t think we’ll choose this place again for a while. What needs urgent improvement is that there aren’t enough washer-dryers. After dinner we ended up spending time going back and forth to a distant laundry room multiple times just to check whether one was available. In the end, we did laundry early the next morning. I also don’t think breakfast quality is high. There wasn’t a single dish I could say “This was delicious!” about, and even for our kids it felt quite basic.

This is a Hotel I love no matter how many times I visit.

This was our fourth stay. As our children have grown, the way we enjoy it has changed, but everything is outstanding—the beach, pool, large public bath, dining, shopping, and starry skies. We truly love The Busena Terrace. Every staff member in every department was kind and welcoming, and it became a wonderful reward for all my hard work and a memorable experience. Thank you very much. Next time, we’d like to visit in winter.

This is a Hotel I would like to stay at again.

I used to stay at Atobu Sena often and was very satisfied, but after having a child, this was my first time staying at The Busena Terrace. I was surprised that the Review score was lower than expected, but after staying here, I can see why it ends up around that level. There are many Resort Hotels, but in terms of a “Hawaii-like” atmosphere, The Busena Terrace is truly wonderful. With its nature-focused design, you really feel that Hawaiian vibe. We had both breakfast and dinner at Cafe Terrace, and the atmosphere was excellent. However, whether because they prioritize nature like overseas resorts or because the Facility is old, I felt the air conditioning was quite tough by today’s standards in Japan. Both my child and I were sweating while eating, and looking around, many other guests were sweating too. As for the Room: it uses a physical key type lock, and perhaps it hasn’t been lubricated—the keyhole was hard to turn. Even the staff struggled with it; it almost made me think we had the wrong Room. Also, cleaning wasn’t thorough—there was still quite a bit of what looked like beach sand left in the corners. We like views from higher floors and usually choose a high-floor Plan, but for the larger Deluxe Room there wasn’t such a Plan available, so unfortunately we ended up on a lower floor. I would appreciate it if you could offer a high-floor Plan for Deluxe Rooms as well. Also, since it’s a unit bath setup (bathroom/toilet together), when someone uses the toilet you can’t use the sink at all, which is quite inconvenient. It may be unavoidable due to an older layout, but even within one space there are many places where the toilet area is separated off somewhat—so this felt like a disappointing design choice. There were various disappointing points including service as well; however, because my child enjoyed the pool and the overall atmosphere is wonderful, I would still like to stay again.

Questions about both check-in and check-out.

Neither check-in nor check-out felt courteous; in terms of service, it was an average Hotel. Despite the upscale facilities, this was very disappointing.

Long live the “Hokansu” (a Hotel vacation)!

It was a relaxing hotel stay with my daughter. In recent years, we’ve been spending our summer holidays unwinding by using the Hotel lounge. This time as well, we were blessed with clear skies, and the ocean view from our Room was wonderful. The Hotel staff were polite and pleasant, and their service was excellent. At check-out, we also appreciated that they carried our suitcases to the shuttle bus.\nHowever, one thing that concerned me was that we couldn’t go directly from the Room to the pool or beach and always had to pass through the lounge. Each time, I felt a bit uncomfortable walking across the lounge in a swimsuit.

Staying Again After More Than 20 Years

I stayed for three nights with my son and his wife, and my grandchild, for the first time in over twenty years. It brought back wonderful memories since my last visit after the Okinawa Summit. As this was a Multiple Night Stay, we were able to truly relax. The property had been renovated and was very clean, but only the bathroom felt old and was quite dark, which was inconvenient. Still, we made happy memories. Thank you very much.

One of Okinawa’s most renowned Resort Hotels!

A Resort Hotel so renowned as one of Okinawa’s best that it hardly needs a Review. We stayed as a couple. From the moment we entered the lobby, the location was outstanding, and we were immediately moved by the ocean view. It truly feels like a resort, with the beach and pool close by—you can really see and experience Okinawa firsthand!! The food was delicious as well. They offer a wide range of activities, so one night felt like too little. Next time, we decided we’ll definitely stay at least two nights! The sunset and star-filled sky were amazing. You can walk to the underwater observatory. There is also a shuttle bus within the Hotel grounds, which made getting around very convenient. It’s a Hotel that made us want to come back for sure. We’re also grateful for the staff’s wonderful hospitality. Thank you all for everything in the heat. We look forward to staying again!

    Exceptional hospitality

This was our third stay. When I mentioned that July is our wedding anniversary, the Room had a lovely surprise prepared for us. It made us feel truly happy. Every time we passed the staff, they always greeted us with a smile—wonderful service. It makes us want to work hard so we can stay at The Busena again every year. Thank you very much.

We fully enjoyed the resort atmosphere of Okinawa!

I had stayed at The Terrace Club before, but this was my first time at The Busena Terrace. In conclusion, I was very satisfied!! It’s a Hotel I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for your continued hospitality! ■ What I liked - The view from the Room and the resort atmosphere throughout the Hotel were outstanding. Housekeeping was also excellent. - The evening saxophone performances by the pool every day really enhanced the resort vibe. There were also live performances such as piano late into the night, which made for a very satisfying stay. - The pool and spa were available even after check-out, so we could enjoy them right up until departure. - I was initially worried about valet parking, but everyone was very kind and reassuring. - The poolside atmosphere was fantastic—I wanted to go every day. - The laundry room is available 24 hours a day, and it’s convenient that you can check progress online. - Above all, all Hotel staff were incredibly kind and courteous. I felt comfortable throughout my stay. - Even though the property has been around for many years, I was surprised at how clean everything was—including the pool and other Facilities. Wonderful. ■ Points for improvement - If possible, please extend the spa closing time by even one hour. After dinner, we often missed our chance to use it. - I understand it may be due to the age of the property, but when entering the Room there was a slight musty smell from mold in the air conditioning. - The convenience store inside the Hotel is far away, so if possible I’d like an option to buy bottled drinks somewhere closer (though I may have simply missed it). - If possible, it would be great to increase Rooms with separate bath and toilet through renovation or similar—though it may be difficult structurally. For families especially, it seems inconvenient when someone is using the bath or sink area and others can’t use the toilet.

On a relative’s recommendation, I stayed here for the first time for 3 nights and 4 days. Although the weather was poor due to a typhoon, I was able to fully enjoy the resort atmosphere, and I was very satisfied with the excellent hospitality of all the staff. I would like to stay again.

    Outstanding hospitality

This was my first stay, and I only stayed one night. I feel this is an Accommodation where its true appeal really comes through with a Multiple Night Stay, allowing you to enjoy a truly luxurious time. There were many memorable moments: the sunset view from the poolside, activities in the deep-blue sea, and even the bottle of water a trainee staff member handed me with a smile as I was leaving. I also enjoyed the pool waterslide and felt like a kid again. The food was very delicious, but it was a bit disappointing that it didn’t feel very relaxing due to small children being noisy. It’s understandable since this is a popular Accommodation… It seemed like many guests were staying as three-generation families. I don’t think there was any announcement about the spa (large public bath) at check-in—or maybe there was and I missed it… I appreciated that it was free to use and that it could be used even after checkout. The hair dryers and amenities were slightly below my expectations. For these, you may want to bring your own favorites. Next time, I’d definitely like to stay for a Multiple Night Stay.

    A Spectacular Resort Hotel

The weather was great, and we had a very pleasant stay! The resort grounds truly felt like Okinawa and were full of atmosphere. There were many day visitors, but the Hotel itself had a different vibe. In the calm, unhurried setting, we could still hear cheerful voices now and then—an Okinawa-style resort experience that we really enjoyed! The buffet was also excellent, and dining was fun. At times it felt a bit humid, but that’s just part of Okinawa in June, so it wasn’t an issue. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Stayed for 2 nights.

Overall, it was a Resort Hotel with a high level of satisfaction. The atmosphere throughout the Facility—such as the lobby, pool, and beach—was wonderful, and I was able to fully enjoy the resort vibe. On the other hand, there were moments when I felt the building and equipment were somewhat dated. Also, I sometimes found the butler service inconvenient because my calls did not go through on several occasions. The most disappointing part was the front desk staff’s response. When I asked about restaurants in the Hotel, a male staff member who appeared to be in his 50s replied only with brief comments like “It’s fine” or “It’s not available,” which came across as intimidating and unfriendly. Because I had high expectations for a luxury resort, this service was very disappointing. However, all other staff members were kind and courteous, which left a positive impression. For meals, we used the buffet for both breakfast and dinner, but the selection and taste did not meet my expectations. Personally, I found the buffet at Hiyori Ocean Resort Okinawa more satisfying. Overall, I could certainly feel the appeal of an iconic Okinawan Resort Hotel; however, if improvements are made regarding signs of aging in the Facility, customer service from some staff members, and the food offerings, it would be an even more satisfying Hotel.

    International staff.

I’ve stayed at this Hotel many times because it’s wonderful, but this was my first stay in a while. The location was excellent, and I was able to fully enjoy the resort. However, the service was not as pleasant as it used to be with the Japanese staff. When a foreign staff member brought my luggage into the Room, he carried my not-very-heavy bags with exaggerated “heave-ho” effort, even though I had been holding them for quite some time. Also, after finishing with the luggage, a female staff member from a neighboring country blocked the elevator and wouldn’t make room; an overseas family who couldn’t get on looked puzzled. It’s disappointing that there are fewer Japanese staff now.

    Is it almost time?

The calm atmosphere and bright tropical vibe throughout the Hotel are highly appreciated, but perhaps due to its age, it may be time to update some Facility features. To prevent musty odors from the air conditioning and smells in the Room, an air purifier in each Room might be necessary. Also, the gym feels a bit limited with only treadmills (it would be great to have strength training equipment). The staff are friendly and kind. This Hotel is recommended for those who want to relax and take it easy.

    It was amazing again.

Last summer I went to Hawaii, so this was my first time back at Busena in two years—I've stayed about nine times. Whenever I visit Okinawa, I consider new Hotels as well, but I always end up choosing Busena. The sense of openness that comes with a large resort, its luxury and style—although the buildings naturally show some wear after so many years since opening—somehow those elements only seem to enhance its charm even more. Like Disneyland, it never breaks the resort dream; from the moment you enter the main gate, there’s an exciting feeling. Valet service is simply there as a matter of course, the view looking up from the pool is stunning, and the garden chairs—everywhere you look is elegant and beautiful. This season it feels like there are some new staff members, but everyone is thoughtful even without tips like overseas. It rained a lot during this stay, but it’s still a Hotel that makes me truly glad I came—and makes me want to come back again.

    It was a great resort.

From the moment you step in, the open atrium from the front entrance through the lobby to the veranda frames a stunning ocean view—your mood lifts within five seconds of arrival! The club lounge was also wonderful, and we leisurely enjoyed breakfast, tea time, and cocktail time. Every cake at tea time was delicious, and at cocktail time they served substantial hors d’oeuvres with an impressive selection of drinks. All the staff greeted us with smiles—it felt great. There was live music in the lounge, by the poolside, and in the restaurant—irresistible for music lovers. We had plenty to enjoy on-site, from going to the beach to visiting the underwater observatory tower. It truly felt like a dream holiday. We’ll work hard so we can come back to The Busena Terrace again!

    Delicious breakfast buffet.

We used the breakfast buffet (Cafe Terrace “La Tiida”) all three days, and we enjoyed it every day without getting tired of it—it was delicious. Our Room was on the second floor, so it was on the same floor as “La Tiida,” which made it easy to get there. The pool is also accessible from the second floor, so the view is great and highly recommended.

    A Hawaii-like Hotel

I was able to relax at this Resort Hotel—it felt like being in Hawaii, Bali, or Phuket. The shared areas such as the lobby and gardens are spacious, with plenty of staff, and everything is well maintained throughout, which feels very pleasant. It’s a Hotel that feels worth the price. Meals can also be enjoyed in nearby towns or at roadside restaurants if you have a car, and I think it’s nice to experience some local flavor as well. Some restaurants also seem to offer Shuttle Service. Parking costs ¥2,000 per day, but valet service is provided. Taking the car in and out was a bit inconvenient at first, but once you get used to it, it feels comfortable. As a senior guest who doesn’t see well at night, I would have appreciated a bit more lighting in the Room—perhaps a footlight as well. With the weak yen exchange rate, this stay made me feel that Okinawa is a great alternative without having to go all the way to places like Hawaii.

    Family-friendly

I feel I should have confirmed more in advance that this Hotel is popular with families. If you are looking for a quiet stay, please be aware. During our stay, there were many guests with children, and overall it felt quite lively. No matter where we were in the building—even on the club floor—we saw children shouting so loudly it made our ears ring and running around, which made it difficult for us to relax in a calm environment. Also, perhaps because it was a peak period during a long holiday, some staff members seemed a bit exhausted at times, and there were moments when we felt we had to be considerate toward them. On the other hand, there were also staff who treated us very courteously, so I felt that with slightly more staffing capacity, the burden on the team could be reduced and service could improve. We enjoyed the restaurant food, but personally I found the breakfast buffet flavors somewhat bland. On the other hand, the saxophone performance inside the Hotel was truly wonderful and became one of our most memorable moments during our stay. Because our experiences at other Terrace Group Hotels had been excellent and our expectations were high, this ended up being a disappointing stay. If you want to spend your time quietly and slowly, even within the same group you may be better suited to choosing another Hotel with a more adult-oriented and calm atmosphere.

    The Best Moments

This was my first stay. We booked a Club Lounge Plan, and thanks to the wonderful service from all the staff, my wife and I were able to relax and enjoy a leisurely stay. The location was also excellent—open and spacious—allowing us to unwind, refresh, and truly enjoy a perfect time. I’m not usually the type to stay at the same Hotel more than once, but I would definitely like to stay here again.

Perfect for seasoned international resort travelers.

We stayed on the Club Floor. From the moment we arrived with our rental car, the service was welcoming. They promptly helped unload our luggage, and the Hotel staff took care of moving the car. After that, we checked in at the Club Lounge. The check-in was smooth and the service was attentive—very comfortable here as well. In the evening, we enjoyed cocktail time in the lounge. Champagne was available by default, and we had a relaxing time watching the sunset. Since we stayed as a family, our Room was a connecting Room. Both Rooms had an ocean view and a pleasant breeze—very comfortable spaces. For dinner, we went to the seafood restaurant inside the Hotel. With live music and an ocean view, we enjoyed delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. We often stay in places like Hawaii and the Maldives, but The Terrace is a valuable Hotel that rivals top-class Hotels overseas. We will stay here again on our next trip to Okinawa.

    It’s been a while.

Stayed here 10 years ago and returned. There were many foreign staff members, and even when I had questions, it was difficult because my requests didn’t come across clearly. Since the Facility is large, it felt a bit quiet; I wished there were more events or activities. It’s a great place to enjoy the sea and golf. Dinner at the Hotel is expensive—every restaurant offers set courses starting at ¥10,000 or more. There is only one casual restaurant, but it’s still pricey. If you want to eat outside the Hotel, you’ll need to drive. As others have mentioned in their Reviews, some older Japanese staff spoke in an intimidating manner—giving the impression they may have worked abroad. It’s disappointing because the other staff left a good impression.

    We were very satisfied.

Because of the high humidity, many Hotels in Okinawa can feel damp or smell musty, but The Busena Terrace (as well as The Naha Terrace and The Atta Terrace) does not, making it very comfortable. It is a Hotel I would definitely like to visit again.

Could it be due to a staff shortage?

I’ve always loved The Busena Terrace, but this time it felt like there were fewer experienced Hotel staff. I used to feel that the staff’s elegance and service were truly outstanding, and it was a Hotel that made me want to come back again. However, during this stay I saw many busy staff members and younger employees, and it felt different from before. There didn’t seem to be much room to breathe, and I didn’t see many smiles. A foreign guest brought a mobile phone into the spa bathing area. A spa staff member came right away and handled it, but I felt uncomfortable—perhaps because there are many guests who don’t follow proper etiquette. The Busena Hotel represents Okinawa—no, perhaps Japan as well. Please keep up the good work.

Your First Stay at The Busena Terrace

The staff service, check-in experience, valet parking, Room decor, and the spacious lobby all felt more luxurious than other Hotels. Unless you step out onto the balcony, you cannot see other Rooms, and the view is great, so I recommend an oceanfront Room. Next time, I would like a Multiple Night Stay.
