Shizukatei True to its name, this Accommodation was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, far removed from any hustle and bustle, and surrounded by peaceful rural scenery. The road to the Accommodation was a narrow farm lane where passing other cars required care, but clear signs were placed at key points, and as we got closer, banners guided us along the route. Soba-an I had high expectations for the 80/20 soba served at dinner, but it easily surpassed them—it was exceptionally delicious. In addition, many dishes were prepared using plenty of seasonal vegetables, carefully cooked and beautifully presented. We enjoyed a wide variety of flavors and textures, as well as the visual appeal. Breakfast was also an excellent Japanese set meal with plenty of vegetables and a generous number of dishes. Oshu Hiraizumi Onsen The free-flowing natural Onsen water was a little hot, but we thoroughly enjoyed it together with the open-air bath. Finally, what impressed me most during this stay was the staff. From check-in to being shown to our Room; since dinner was served in-room, their smooth service and efficient delivery; after the meal, clearing everything away and then laying out the futons with equally outstanding efficiency; checkout was completed without any waiting time, and they even came outside to see us off afterward. This was our first visit during Golden Week as part of a family trip service day, and my family was truly happy and satisfied. We were deeply impressed by the professionalism of everyone involved.

I’d been wanting to visit Japan’s highest-altitude Onsen for a long time, and after reading various Reviews, I chose this Accommodation. The Shuttle Service from Karuizawa Station was also a big plus. The indoor bath has some small windows partially open, so you can feel the breeze and enjoy it almost like an open-air bath. The open-air bath is about a 2-minute walk after going outside, so honestly I thought it might be a bit of a hassle. But once I got in, I forgot all about that. The view and the water were amazing. I will definitely come again! However, the wooden walkway on the way shows some wear, so if you have mobility issues, please be careful when walking in slippers. Also, after rain it’s downhill and may be slippery. The buffet also offered health-conscious options, and everything was delicious. Thank you to everyone at the Accommodation—the staff and the driver—for your hospitality.

Although we were informed that the air conditioning is centrally controlled throughout the building, it was a little cold. Due to the typhoon, it suddenly became cooler, so it couldn’t be helped, but it finally warmed up by early morning.

First of all, thank you to the front desk staff for your courteous service from check-in onward. I carefully checked the weather forecast and decided there would be no snowfall, then hurriedly planned a trip to my beloved Hida Takayama and Okuhida. After leisurely enjoying the old town streets, I headed to the Accommodation and arrived around dusk—only to see white flakes falling from the sky. In the end, it worked out perfectly. The early-morning Onsen was a stunning open-air bath with snow viewing and a softly lit winter landscape. With no wind, I was able to enjoy a quiet moment all to myself and Clear away my daily fatigue and stress. The indoor bath also had a lovely interior and atmosphere, was beautifully cleaned, and I enjoyed a full hour—completely satisfied. The Yakult drink service in the post-bath lounge was another thoughtful touch; I ended up having three. Breakfast afterward was outstanding for someone who loves Japanese food—I had three large bowls of rice first thing in the morning. Hoba miso, “tsukemono steak,” kombu rolls, simmered ganmodoki, steamed vegetables, miso soup with fried tofu… And as if that weren’t enough, I even finished off some special curry rice. Now I’m slightly nervous about my next regular checkup with my hemoglobin A1c likely going up… On the way home I did some light exercise by strolling around Takayama again: Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall, Hiroshige’s baumkuchen shop, a cat café, and more. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again anytime in any season—and one I truly hope to stay at again. Next time I’d love to try dinner as well. When I noticed the interior (tatami flooring?), it felt familiar—then I realized it’s part of the same group as Hida Hanazato no Yu Takayama Ouan. Once again, it struck me as a wonderful concept: clean and beautifully Japanese in style. Thank you very much.

A relaxing accommodation located at the foot of Mt. Sanbe with a fantastic location. The price is reasonable, offering great satisfaction. The meals are diverse and exceptionally delicious. If given the chance, I would love to stay at this accommodation again. Thank you!

We chose the Surprise Plan for a celebration, and the communication was very courteous. The Room and open-air bath were spacious, relaxing, and very clean. We were also happy to have plenty of free drinks. We chose the wagyu course, and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with them as well. Being able to adjust the open-air bath ourselves meant we could always soak at just the right temperature, which was a great feature. Breakfast was also excellent. We felt refreshed in both body and mind, the surprise was a success, and we’re truly glad we chose this place. We’d love to stay in one of the other Rooms too!

I often use dinner buffets, and this is one I’d like to visit again and again. The standout was how delicious the yakiniku and shabu-shabu were. You can eat as much as you like of Kagoshima beef and Kurobuta pork, grilling it freely at your own table on a hot plate heated with solid fuel. Using the same solid-fuel setup, you can also enjoy hot pot dishes (three types) and kamameshi rice. In addition, you can cook Kagoshima beef, Kurobuta pork, and chicken just the way you like in a shared shabu-shabu pot. Chicken shabu-shabu is a dish that really works because of the quality of Kagoshima chicken. There were also local specialties such as kibinago sashimi and keihan chicken rice soup, each prepared with great care. Compared with other Hotels, there seemed to be fewer kid-friendly options, but every family appeared satisfied with the local cuisine. The baths were spacious as well, with excellent water quality and views—I was very satisfied.

We stayed in a luxuriously designed Suite Room. The 24-hour free-flowing cloudy Onsen in the Room was pure indulgence. Even among Accommodations with an open-air bath, I don’t think you’ll find another with a bath as large as this Accommodation’s. The mountain and river cuisine also showed great attention to detail—highly recommended for a stay.

This was a highly satisfying Hotel stay from check-in to check-out. What surprised me most was the wide variety of drinks and ice cream available in the complimentary area. Guests can enjoy unlimited drinks, from alcohol to soft drinks, and I also loved making my own ice cream—it was a lot of fun. The staff kindly guided me through the Room and breakfast information at check-in, and they responded quickly to an unexpected situation during my stay. Breakfast arrived at my Room right on time and was wonderfully warm and delicious. I truly feel this was the best Hotel I have ever stayed at. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different Room and discover something new! Thank you very much!

Everything—from the service and the Hotel’s interior design to the teppanyaki and even the smallest details in the guest room—was perfect. It was a truly moving and wonderful stay.

The Facilities were excellent, and we enjoyed a relaxing dinner in our Room. We were very satisfied with both the price and what was included, making it a wonderful one-night stay. That said, while the simple style was nice in its own way, we would have appreciated a few thoughtful words from the Accommodation staff at check-in and check-out, or a small service such as offering a cup of coffee after breakfast.

I’ve stayed here several times, but this was my first time at Kobushi. ○ There is a gap at the bottom of the Room door, so outside noise carries in easily. ○ Because there is no door to the dining area, food smells spread throughout the entire floor. Also, dinner time is set at 90 minutes, and the next dishes come slowly. When dining with a child (one-plate meal), they finished early and it was difficult. These two points were drawbacks. Everything else was perfect. You can enjoy yourself from morning until late afternoon the next day! You can play a lot and relax, and everyone from children to adults will be satisfied. No matter how many times we come, my child says they want to stay again. Regarding meals, I’d appreciate it if the serving pace could be faster for guests with children—once they finish eating, they have nothing to do.

From check-in to check-out, all the staff were consistently kind, and the service was impeccable. The Facility was new and well equipped, making our stay very comfortable. While the location is not particularly convenient for transportation, there is a Shuttle Service to the nearest station, so we did not feel much inconvenience. Overall, it is a wonderful Onsen Ryokan that we would definitely like to visit again.

I was able to relax and take it easy. Sitting by the fireplace, I enjoyed the nostalgic scent, sound, and flames of the burning firewood. The free-flow alcohol and drinks were wonderful—I was pleasantly surprised. It was perfect for a quick drink after a bath. The snacks were delicious as well; it felt like you really let the quality of the ingredients speak for itself. The evening buffet also had a handmade feel and was very tasty. Breakfast offered so many options that I couldn’t try everything. If I have the chance, I’d love to stay again.

I contacted the property to say that I had missed the last bus from Hana-no-Miyako Park and would not make it in time for check-in. They kindly explained a walking route and told me that if I didn’t need dinner, I could take my time and come carefully. Taking them up on that, I had dinner on the way and checked in, where I was greeted warmly. They also helped me arrange breakfast. The Onsen was spacious, and especially the open-air bath—there were no other guests (maybe I went at a good time?)—so I could truly relax and recover from 14,000 steps of walking. In the morning, when I woke up at 4:30, Mt. Fuji was right in front of me—so close it filled my view. With subtle hues, it was breathtakingly beautiful. The morning bath and then breakfast—everything helped me forget everyday life, thanks to all the staff. Thank you very much.

The autumn leaves were very beautiful from the room. There were many tourists from overseas, but there were no issues, and it was a great experience to chat in the open-air bath. The staff seemed to include those proficient in languages, showing their efforts as an accommodation. The variety of uniquely designed baths was enjoyable. The food was also delicious. However, the reservation method for private baths may need some consideration.

This was our second stay, the first in two years. Just like last time, the place was thoroughly cleaned and we had a very comfortable stay. We also enjoyed the Tsuruya apple juice (I believe it was a repeat-guest perk). What we love most about this Accommodation is the great location and how comfortable it is not only for people but also for dogs. The fenced yard covered with wood chips can be used as a private dog run, so we could skip walks when needed—easy for us, and our dog looked like they were having a great time too. The only inconvenience is that there are no amenities such as a skincare/lotion set, but we knew this in advance from the Accommodation information and brought our own, so it wasn’t an issue at all. Please keep this in mind if you plan to stay here. There were two hair dryers provided, which was great since our two teenage children could use them at the same time. The foot bath was also wonderful. Soaking our feet after waking up while drinking the provided drip coffee felt like forest bathing and was truly relaxing. Contactless check-in and check-out were easy and very convenient. Because everything is contactless, we didn’t meet any staff in person, but everything was well prepared for a comfortable stay—thank you very much.

The staff were very courteous. It was raining, but we managed to have the BBQ under the tarp. However, the tarp leaked in several places and water dripped down, so we had to choose our seats carefully. I guess that’s somewhat unavoidable with a tarp tent. The BBQ meat was very well seasoned and delicious. The vegetables were fresh and tasty as well. The French toast for breakfast was also great. We stayed in a Comfort Tent and it was comfortable. It was cool enough that we didn’t really need air conditioning, but because of the rain it was very humid, so we used the AC to dehumidify. Even with that heavy rain, we still had a good time—this really felt like glamping at its best. There were deer near our tent late at night—we truly enjoyed being close to nature.
