We stayed here over Silver Week to celebrate a birthday. As this inn is known for its cuisine, we were most looking forward to the meals—and everything from start to finish was absolutely delicious. We booked the simmered golden eye snapper (Kinmedai) course because we really wanted to try it, and I highly recommend it at least once. The chef’s special desserts were also wonderful. There was a great selection of local sake as well. I didn’t have much of an image of Shizuoka sake before, but we enjoyed trying different ones by the single serving. The food was so good that we ended up drinking a bit too much (laughs). Our room was in a separate building, and meals were served in a private dining room, so we rarely ran into other guests and could truly relax. We also used the private bath, and together with the bath in our room, we ended up soaking four times in total. The temperature was perfect. All of the staff were polite and attentive. We’d love to come back again as a treat for ourselves—what started as a celebration turned into us having an amazing time too (laughs).

The private family bath was spacious and even had a waterfall feature, with the water at just the right temperature, so we could soak and relax. The atmosphere of the large public bath was also wonderful. The meals featured local ingredients, the portions were just right, and we were very satisfied! If you have mobility issues, going up and down to the first floor may be difficult, but it was a quiet place to spend time. We’d love to visit again after a hike in the mountains.

The cuisine is equally exceptional: beautifully presented, seasonal dishes made with a strong commitment to local ingredients. The in-room minibar also features carefully selected drinks, and the all-inclusive bar counter offers an impressive lineup of fine spirits. And the best background music of all is nature itself—the sounds of insects and birds as you do nothing in particular and simply relax. For those used to city life surrounded by man-made structures, the sweeping rural scenery and the gentle fragrance of seasonal flowers feel like a feast for the heart. This is how “luxury” quietly spreads through every part of you. Above all, the greatest luxury is meeting the wonderful staff. From welcome to farewell, their flawless yet heartfelt hospitality soothes you in every moment—it’s true healing. We always look forward to our conversations with everyone here. Before each stay, it has become our tradition to visit Niutsuhime Shrine—a UNESCO World Heritage Site about five minutes away by car. This time, we joined a talk held from 5:00 PM in the lobby lounge about Niutsuhime Shrine. The storyteller shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that only someone closely connected to the shrine could tell; before we knew it, around 30 minutes had flown by. The next day after checkout, we visited Niutsuhime Shrine again and also explored nearby historic spots we learned about during the talk. It allowed us to worship from a completely new perspective—and we discovered power spots we never would have found on our own. The traditional house café near the shrine that was recommended to us was also wonderful, making this trip even more meaningful than ever! We heard these talks will continue on an irregular basis—if one happens during your stay, we highly recommend joining. We also heard that on some days there is a guided visit starting at 7:00 AM (meeting at the lobby lounge) for worship at Niutsuhime Shrine. No matter how many seasons pass or how much time goes by, this is a place we want to return to again and again. It’s truly a blissful hotel—so full of happiness that it feels impossible to find anywhere else!

This was my second visit this year, and it’s soothing no matter when I come. The service strikes just the right balance of attentiveness and privacy, the rooms are spacious, and the meals keep evolving—overall, it’s a place with an exceptionally high level of satisfaction. 　This time in particular, the breakfast—renewed since this spring—was outstanding. In contrast to the gorgeous French dinner, it’s a simple Japanese-style meal, but each dish is truly delicious. They’ve also changed how they cook the rice, and the finishing bowl topped with dashi was superb. 　I’m already looking forward to being impressed again on my next visit.

We stayed in the Silver Building. As it is a new facility, everything felt very clean, and we had a wonderfully comfortable stay. The facilities and amenities were well equipped, with thoughtful attention to detail throughout. The bathroom and kitchen were easy to use, and we remained comfortable even spending long hours indoors. Although it rained during our stay, we never felt inconvenienced thanks to the washer-dryer and the covered terrace where we could enjoy a BBQ. Our dog also settled in quickly, which gave us peace of mind. The staff were very kind as well, making our stay even more pleasant. We would definitely like to stay again.

At IKYU, it was categorized as casual, but we enjoyed a luxurious Onsen experience that felt like staying at a private villa. The Room had a spacious washroom, and the toilet being separate was also convenient. The heater in the Room was turned on in advance, so we stayed warm without needing to use the air conditioner. Various thoughtful touches were noticeable throughout, and I heard that adjustments are made regularly. It had such a pleasant atmosphere that made us wish to stay longer. Here are some points of concern: It would be helpful if spare foot mats were provided for the private bath so they can be replaced after use. The abundance of wash towels was very convenient. A single fresh flower in the Room would add charm since there were flowers in the dining area. During meal service, providing more details about local ingredients or cooking methods would be appreciated by travelers—it may require extra effort from staff but makes for enjoyable conversations while savoring meals. Having a menu list would also enhance the dining experience further.

Located roughly across the river from the Nagatoro Iwadatami (not within walking distance). This is a small, well-serviced Hotel surrounded by quiet woods with an atmosphere reminiscent of Karuizawa; though compact, it is well equipped and stocked with amenities. Dinner and breakfast are Japanese-style creative full-course meals, better suited to adults. Some Rooms feature private open-air baths, and there are also free private reservable baths, making it a good choice for guests who value privacy. The building is old, but filled with tasteful furnishings that create a charming ambiance. With only a few Rooms, the staff can provide attentive service to each party. Nights are very quiet, accompanied by the sounds of insects. There are two EV chargers (6 kW TerraCharge) in the guest-only parking area; if you drive an electric vehicle, it’s best to let them know in advance.

While waiting for the Shuttle Service to the station after check-out, they kindly offered cold drinks and showed thoughtful care in many ways, providing truly attentive hospitality. The meals were delicious, and the tableware was stylish—both the taste and presentation were very satisfying.

I visited Shiobara Onsen with my 84-year-old mother from Taiwan on a family trip. The inn is quiet and cozy, with only 11 rooms. Thanks to the staff’s warm hospitality, my mother felt at ease throughout our stay. Dinner was a kaiseki meal made with seasonal ingredients, and this time we chose the rare soft-shelled turtle course. I was surprised when they even served soft-shelled turtle blood, but it became a memorable food experience unique to traveling. The hot springs are 100% free-flowing from the source. We stayed in the “Izumo” room, a spacious guest room overlooking the Hoki River, with both an open-air bath and an indoor bath. The two private reservable baths were also large and beautiful, and what impressed me most was that my mother could enjoy the hot springs without worrying about others. The scenery, cuisine, hot springs, and hospitality were all wonderful—an unforgettable set of memories with my mother.

I’d been wanting to visit the Zushi–Hayama area for some time, and this was a hotel I’d had my eye on. We stayed to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and they thoughtfully arranged champagne in our ocean-view room along with a beautiful flower arrangement and other special touches—he was absolutely delighted. They also informed us about the spa in advance, so we quickly prepared swimsuits and were able to use it. The water temperature was very comfortable, and they even offered complimentary drinks, which made it feel like a wonderful escape from everyday life. We requested dinner from 5:00 p.m., and while watching the sunset we were able to relax and truly savor the meal, feeling the chef’s passion in every dish. The service staff were also gentle and gracious, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. We slept soundly at night, woke up refreshed in the morning, and enjoyed a lovely walk by the sea. We ordered breakfast via room service as well, which allowed us to take our time and unwind. My husband praised everything as beyond his expectations and would love to stay again. Thank you very much for your attentive hospitality. If I had to mention one small point: I felt the TV might be positioned a bit low.

It was my first time staying here, and it was excellent. I stayed with my dog, and the log cabin was very clean, odor-free, and comfortable. They came right away to explain how to use the BBQ, and their guidance was very thorough. The BBQ meat was delicious, and there was plenty of food—very satisfying. I would love to stay again.

We had an incredibly fulfilling stay. From the interior and exterior design to the furniture, decor, fixtures, amenities, lawn, and open grounds, this was a wonderfully comfortable Facility where you can feel the attention to detail everywhere. The interior is unified in a calm design, with very high ceilings that create an airy sense of openness, allowing us to fully enjoy a special time away from everyday life. The vanity area and bathroom were especially spacious and impressive—made with high-quality materials and kept impeccably clean down to every corner. The amenities also felt thoughtfully chosen; for example, Aesop hand soap was provided at the sink. All essential cookware and appliances were available, so we could stay comfortably without any inconvenience. We even enjoyed handheld fireworks in the garden. The views of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Alps were also stunning—scenery you could gaze at for hours without noticing time pass. Most memorable of all were the wood-fired sauna and cold plunge bath. The wood-fired sauna was exceptional—enjoying it while feeling the flicker of flames, hearing the crackle of burning logs, and breathing in the scent of wood was truly special. Unlike an electric heater, it had a gentle heat that warmed us slowly from deep within and helped us relax completely. A large amount of sauna stones were thoroughly heated, so we could also enjoy pleasant steam from löyly. It’s an ideal setup that I would highly recommend even to dedicated sauna lovers. They added ice to the cold plunge bath multiple times for us, so we could cool down properly. Paired with the wood-fired sauna, it was perfect—we fully enjoyed every session. In the evening we enjoyed a BBQ, and we really appreciated that the owner prepared everything—from lighting the fire to setting everything up. On top of that, we received a generous gift of fresh vegetables grown by his wife. They were all rare varieties you don’t often see day-to-day, and you could feel careful attention not only in each vegetable but also in their labels and packaging. We tried them right away at our BBQ—especially the eggplant, which was unbelievably tender and delicious. Beyond how wonderful both the Facility itself and its location are, we were truly moved by the owners’ thoughtful hospitality as well. In this extraordinary setting—with beautiful views, a wood-fired sauna experience like no other،and BBQ—we spent a luxurious yet deeply comfortable time here. We would love to stay again. I had such a wonderful impression when I stayed here before that this is my second visit. From the welcome sweets to the Japanese-Western fusion dinner and the hearty breakfast, everything was delicious. All meals were brought to our Room, so there was no need to change clothes, and we could relax completely. I also appreciated that when I informed them in advance about ingredients I can’t eat, they accommodated me properly. During our 3-day/2-night stay, all of the staff took great care of us. I had the chance to speak with five staff members, and every one of them provided excellent service! They were polite and warm, and I truly felt well looked after. The only thing I noticed was that the shower drainage was a little slow. Even so, overall it was a lovely Accommodation where we felt very comfortable. Taking an open-air bath early in the morning while listening to bush warblers singing was an unforgettable experience. I’d love to visit again in a different season.

While Accommodations with Onsen and breakfast and dinner included are wonderful, we were hoping for a stay that felt more like living locally. We stayed as a couple, and the simple layout—kitchen, dining area, bedroom, toilet, and shower—was impressive and made for a very comfortable stay. The owner’s mural was gentle and blended beautifully with the interior, creating a lovely atmosphere. We were told that in winter all rooms have underfloor heating so you can stay comfortable even in short sleeves, so we’d love to visit again in another season. There’s an OGINO supermarket nearby as well as a butcher shop; we enjoyed basashi and relaxed with Yamanashi wine (the kitchen knife wasn’t very sharp, but honestly it felt safer that way). Partway through our stay, the owner stopped by to check on us and shared stories about life at Lake Yamanaka—more than anything else, that became our favorite memory and made us feel at ease. It was a truly wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it turned into a truly wonderful stay. We don’t drink alcohol, and when we mentioned that, they kindly replaced the drinks in the Room refrigerator with non-alcoholic options. We really appreciated such thoughtful attention. At dinner, they also gave my husband a single rose as a birthday gift. We were deeply moved by this unexpected and lovely gesture, and it became a great birthday memory. From the open-air bath in our Room, we could look out over the lake—the view was absolutely stunning. Soaking in the open-air bath while enjoying the expansive scenery was incredibly relaxing, and being able to enjoy the Onsen at our own pace whenever we liked felt like a real luxury. Dinner was delicious as well—especially the pizza! It was so good that we ended up having two. If I had to mention one small concern, since it’s surrounded by nature there were quite a few insects. When we tried to use the open-air bath at night, many bugs (like stink bugs) had gathered there, so unfortunately we gave up bathing at that time. That said, I think that’s simply part of staying in such a natural setting. More than anything else, what stayed with us were the view from our Room, the Onsen, the food, and the staff’s warm hospitality. We were able to celebrate my husband’s birthday in a wonderful way and made lasting memories. Thank you very much.

The location is simply outstanding. From anywhere on the property, I could see Mt. Bandai beyond Yairoku Pond, and I was moved again and again. In addition, the service, dinner and breakfast, open-air bath, cleanliness, and the lounge’s ease of use were all excellent and comfortable. I’m glad I chose Urabandai Kogen Hotel for my commemorative trip. The nature that changes with each season must be wonderful as well, so next time I’d love to visit in a different season. The Room was very clean, and I was able to stay comfortable throughout my entire visit. What I especially loved were the infinity pool and the sauna. With only seven Rooms available per day, it never felt crowded, and I could relax and enjoy them at a leisurely pace. The views were stunning, and you can truly experience an extraordinary escape from everyday life. The staff’s hospitality was also excellent, making my stay very pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, and the bar had a wonderful atmosphere as well. Being able to enjoy drinks slowly while taking in the view was particularly memorable. It’s not an inexpensive Accommodation, but considering the Facility offerings, meals, service, and views, I felt it was well worth the price. I would love to stay again.

A sisters’ trip from Kanagawa to Izu. We stayed at Homare no Hikari, a Hotel with a calm atmosphere. Both the Room and the cuisine were wonderful, and we were very satisfied. We heard that the menu changes by season, so we would definitely like to stay again. Highly recommended Hotel. Thank you very much.

We visited to celebrate my elderly parent’s birthday. We truly appreciated your thoughtful hospitality, and my parent was delighted. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, leaving us energized for the next day. The room was spacious with a wonderful view, and we could feel the arrival of autumn. Elegant flowers were arranged throughout the property, allowing us to enjoy the season as well. Your sense of style is truly wonderful. We’ve been saying we’d love to come again. Everything was always clean, and I had a very comfortable stay! All of the staff provided wonderful hospitality. This time, I chose the “Tajima Beef Colorful Kaiseki” course! They carefully explained each dish, which made it even more enjoyable. I was able to fully enjoy Kinosaki at night.
