Susobana Gorge Natural Hot Spring Inn Uruoi-kan

Having read the Reviews in advance, I was aware of what to expect, but my companion was very surprised by the contrast between the front desk atmosphere and the impression of the Room. The day-use bathing area feels lively like a busy public bathhouse, while the guest Rooms were calm and comfortable.Because we visited on a weekday, the large public bath was not crowded and very relaxing. The only thing that bothered me slightly was seeing someone brushing their teeth at the washing area. Even so, I was truly impressed by the abundant flow of free-flowing Onsen water straight from the source. When I visit around Nagano Station for work in the future, I would love to stop by again even just for a day-use bath.The Room was flawlessly comfortable, and the private indoor bath was very spacious. I was also amazed by how much hot water it had. Dinner was served in-room, so we could relax without worrying about others, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious dishes with thoughtful touches. The staff member who served us was friendly and made it a pleasant time. At breakfast, it was also nice to be able to choose between rice porridge cooked with Onsen water and regular steamed rice.Please note that there are no amenities provided in the large public bath area (including makeup remover), so bringing your own is recommended. The in-Room amenities are also provided for one use (one day) only, so if you plan to bathe multiple times, it may be reassuring to bring extras. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay.

There is a free Shuttle Service from Nagano Station to Uruoi-kan. It takes about 10 minutes.When you enter through the automatic doors, the staff will provide slippers. Please store your shoes in a locker and be careful not to lose the key. The staff also offered a simple wet towel, and check-in was smooth.The Room had a private open-air Onsen bath with free-flowing hot spring water. For the Katakuri room, the glass around the open-air bath is frosted, so there is no view (it faces residential houses). River-side rooms seem to have a view.Dinner was served in the Room. Breakfast was served at the restaurant.Inside the Room, there is a refrigerator on the right. Drinks are charged: bottled orange juice, oolong tea, cola, bottled beer, and canned chu-hai (you fill in an optional form with date/time and quantity and submit it at check-out).You can also order alcoholic beverages and other drinks by calling from your Room before dinner. In my case, a service staff member asked me directly, so I ordered a sake tasting set on the spot.Extra orders and refrigerator items were settled at check-out.Accommodation Tax: 200 yenHot Spring Tax: 150 yenThese were also paid at check-out.Personally, I felt it would be even better if breakfast could also be served in the Room for guests staying in Rooms with private open-air baths.On the first floor, you can buy drinks and alcohol from vending machines.You can also use the large public bath.There were many day-use visitors as well (it felt loved by locals too).I would like to stay again if I have another chance.
