I stayed here for the first time in decades, bringing my parents along. The draft beer welcome drink was perfect after arriving in the heat and helped us relax right away. Our Room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable, and the pleasant music playing when we entered made us feel truly welcomed. We were able to enjoy both Onsen baths at a leisurely pace without running into many other guests. The Onsen on the lower floor in particular had excellent water quality, and the ice cream after bathing was delicious. Both dinner and breakfast featured many local ingredients, and everything—vegetables, seafood, and meat—was wonderful. I was especially impressed by the shelled gazami uni (sea urchin), which is hard to find in the Kanto area. Before dinner, we were also shown around the wooden dining building; it was outstanding, and I hope it will be carefully preserved for years to come. After dinner we had drinks at the bar, where the calm atmosphere made it easy to unwind. From check-in to being driven back to the station on departure day, everyone—including the proprietress and all staff—was courteous with just the right sense of distance. It was a truly satisfying stay, and I would love to return.

We stayed here for a birthday trip for my mother and our dog. The Facility and the food were excellent, but even more than that, every staff member we met was wonderful, and we were able to spend a truly comfortable time. What impressed us most was that all the staff remembered our dog’s name and greeted us using it. We will definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

The “Small-portion Gourmet Kaiseki” was just the right amount for seniors, and over our two-night stay the dinner was excellent in terms of ingredients, preparation, and seasoning. The breakfast also offered a variety of small dishes, and we were very satisfied from the morning with both dried fish and sashimi. The Onsen, Facility, and Room were clean and well maintained, and the staff were extremely attentive throughout our two-night stay. True to its name, it provided a five-star experience and made our trip to Izu a wonderful one.

We stayed here to celebrate my elderly parents’ birthdays. Highlights of this Accommodation: - The view of Mt. Fuji across Lake Kawaguchi while soaking in the balcony footbath is breathtaking. - In the evening, you can enjoy complimentary drinks such as beer and wine in the lounge, along with free nuts and ice cream. - Dinner is served in your Room, and you can dine comfortably at a relaxed pace on low chairs. Unfortunately, due to bad weather we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji even once during our stay, but the staff kindly gave us a lovely Mt. Fuji postcard. We’ll be back next year for another try! The dinner portions were more than we could finish and felt wasteful for us, so I rated the meals 4 stars—I’d love to see a “quality over quantity” Plan or a smaller-portion Plan. Overall, this is one of the very best Accommodations with views of Mt. Fuji, and it’s become one of our favorites! *The Mt. Fuji photo was taken from our Room in June last year.*

On my way back from a business trip to Tokyo, I planned a visit to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which I had long wanted to see. I stayed one night at an Accommodation in Kinugawa Onsen. I chose it after searching with conditions such as having an in-Room Onsen bath and being reasonably priced. The lobby was well maintained, and the hallways were very clean as well. Our Room had an Onsen bath and two separate rooms, so my wife went to the large public bath while I enjoyed the in-Room bath. The meals were very delicious, and the portions were just right—slightly on the generous side. It was a quiet Accommodation where I could relax in the Onsen, which was wonderful. Many of the staff seemed to be from overseas, but everyone was polite and courteous. One thing that concerned me was that when I opened the window by the in-Room bath, there were quite a few spider webs. Also, insects gathered on the window at night so we couldn’t open it; I thought that if there had been a screen door or similar, we could have opened it. If I have another chance to visit nearby, I would like to stay again.

My first time at Zao Onsen. I love sulfur springs, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the indoor bath and the open-air bath. It was lightly raining, but they had a hat-like cover (like what Jizo statues wear) available so my head wouldn’t get wet. Thanks to that, I was able to relax in the open-air bath as well.\nThe meals were also excellent—Yamagata beef and all the other dishes were delicious. The rice was Tsuyahime, making for a high-quality dinner with local ingredients.\nThanks to the staff’s warm smiles and attentive service, I had a wonderful time.

We stayed as a mother-and-daughter trip to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We have stayed at many Accommodations, but our time at Fufu Nikko was truly unforgettable and the best experience we could have hoped for. The Room was extremely comfortable, and the in-room Onsen was wonderfully relaxing—we enjoyed it many times during our stay. The dining was also outstanding. Each dish was beautiful to look at, thoughtfully presented on lovely tableware, and you could really feel the care and attention behind every detail. Everything tasted delicious. The final dish—rice with conger eel and lotus root—was especially wonderful, but we were so full that we couldn’t finish it. That is my only regret. Even now, my daughter and I still say, “We wish we had eaten it all.” The whole cake we requested in advance for my daughter’s birthday was also set up beautifully when we returned to our Room after dinner. They even added flowers along with the cake, and my daughter was deeply touched by their thoughtfulness. Thanks to you, it became a truly memorable birthday. Above all, what stayed with us most was the hospitality of the staff. From the warm welcome on arrival to the heartfelt send-off at departure, everything felt comfortable. Wherever we met someone, they greeted us kindly, and each small gesture of consideration felt genuinely warm. The explanations of each course were clear and attentive, and the casual conversations in between were enjoyable as well. The service never felt formal or stiff—just perfectly attentive with a comfortable sense of distance—and both my daughter and I were completely charmed. Of course the Facility and cuisine were exceptional, but this stay reminded me that what ultimately makes you think “I want to come back” is always the people. Even after returning home, my daughter and I haven’t stopped talking about Fufu Nikko. We’ve become big fans of “Fufu,” and are already planning which Fufu property to visit next—with hopes of visiting them all someday. I sincerely thank all of your staff for making this important birthday trip with my daughter such a wonderful memory. We will definitely return again. Thank you very much.

At the end of our Golden Week trip to Beppu, we moved on to Yufuin. We stayed here for our final night. This time, we booked the “Carefully Selected Kyushu Wagyu Tenderloin Indulgence Plan” and spent one night in the PREMIUM Suite Room “Kunugi.” To sum it up, it was unquestionably a wonderful stay. First of all, the Room is spacious! A relaxing Japanese-style living room, plus a bedroom with a second living area. And the highlight is surely the open-air bath on the large terrace—amazingly, there are two baths: one fully open-air and one semi-open-air! The weather was great that day, so we enjoyed the breeze and long soaks. I was still in the bath right up until just before check-out (lol). The meal was also excellent—the main dish featured both tenderloin and Bungo chicken. It was also appreciated that anything we couldn’t finish could be served again the next morning. That said, it’s quite a generous portion, so those with smaller appetites should take note. The Accommodation staff’s service was at a very satisfying level. There are many other Accommodations in Yufuin I’d like to try someday, but this stay was a perfect finale to our Golden Week trip.

I’ve been wanting to visit in every season since my last stay, but our schedules never lined up, so we ended up returning in July again. The cedar-lined path from the Accommodation to Hakone Shrine felt cool and refreshing even under the strong sun, and we were lucky enough to hear the evening cicadas singing—reminding me once again how wonderful Hakone is. Even during dinner we could occasionally hear them; together with the thoughtfully prepared dishes with elegant seasoning and the recommended sake, it made for a truly luxurious time. The next day, after enjoying a healthy breakfast carefully prepared, we were kindly driven to Motohakone Port. From the deck of the pirate ship, we cruised while looking at Mt. Fuji and fully enjoying the cool breeze. We’ll be back again.

This was our first trip with Mameko, our 8-month-old Shiba Inu. We had various concerns, but in the end it was a very satisfying stay. It started with the front desk’s kind and attentive service. It reminded us how important the atmosphere at check-in really is. We quickly made a Reservation for a private bath. Our Japanese-style Room was spacious enough, and the crate was large as well. The view from the window wasn’t great; it seems a Room on the opposite side of the hallway would have been better. Next was the outdoor dog run. It was covered with wood chips, which were gentle on our dog’s paws. However, it didn’t seem well maintained, and we didn’t see any other families using it. Then came the private bath. Dogs aren’t allowed in the bathtub for people, but there was a large tub placed in the washing area, so we could bathe together and still enjoy an Onsen-like experience. One thing to note: there was a brush provided, but it had plenty of hair from a previous dog on it—perhaps it was missed during cleaning—which was disappointing. Dinner was finally served, and both quantity and quality were more than satisfying. The tables were spaced appropriately apart, so we could relax comfortably alongside other dogs as well. The only disappointment was that my favorite salt-grilled ayu wasn’t cooked through enough. Ayu is usually edible from head to tail when properly grilled, but this one had hard bones (head and tail) that couldn’t be eaten. My wife’s portion was nearly raw; they re-grilled it for her, but even then the bones remained too hard to eat. Ayu needs to be grilled slowly over time; this felt like only the surface had been browned with a grill to save time and effort. I believe this should be improved promptly. There are two indoor dog runs as well—both were excellent spaces where we could also get along with other guests’ families. The large public bathhouse was a good size, and above all else, the sulfur Onsen was outstanding. They recommended “time bathing” (going in and out) because it’s hot; I gradually got used to it and eventually enjoyed how pleasantly the sulfur seemed to cling to my skin. After bathing there were massage chairs—three units including newer models—and having them free of charge really lived up to expectations. Breakfast the next morning also left us fully satisfied. One more small point: staff members kindly fussed over Mameko, but since they handle food service as well, I felt it might be better not to touch dogs during meal service. Overall, our 1-night/2-day stay ended on an extremely positive note. Beyond great value for money, we could truly feel everyone’s hospitality—this has become one of our family’s Accommodations we would like to visit again.”

Both dinner and breakfast are lavish, spectacular meals. You can enjoy outstanding dishes that feel like the very best from all over Japan. We recommend arriving at the Accommodation very hungry. It was a shame I was so full that I could hardly eat the late-night rice balls.

I stayed with my parents and husband—four adults in total. There was a complimentary alcohol service available until 10:00 p.m. (there was even beer in the Room refrigerator!), and the all-inclusive drinks with meals also offered a great selection of alcohol. We could even enjoy sparkling wine at breakfast—wonderful for my father and me, as we both love drinks. Every summer, we stay one night at an Accommodation in Fukushima to coincide with my mother’s visit home, and my father really loved this place, saying, “Let’s stay here again next time—let’s make it our regular.” From the bath to the lobby to the Room, every space had beautiful interiors and a wonderful sense of design. The staff were also warm yet polished in their hospitality. It was our first trip where I treated my parents to a stay, so it became a truly memorable experience for us. Thank you very much.

During my Kyushu trip in mid-June, I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay (2 nights) in the “Chikurintei—Panoramic Open-Air Bath (Japanese-Western Room)” nestled within Mifuneyama Rakuen’s vast grounds. I stayed in the “Yamazakura” Room, which offered views of Mt. Mifune from the corridor and garden, and even had a private gate with direct access to Mifuneyama Rakuen. The open-air bath is a standing-style bath set among trees. It creates a unique floating sensation, and because the water pressure is applied evenly over the whole body, I felt less fatigue afterward. Being able to enjoy the garden and sky while standing also adds to the wonderful sense of openness. The Onsen water is clear and colorless—an alkaline simple spring—with an exceptionally gentle feel on the skin, so I never tired of soaking. The indoor bath is heated groundwater, but I also enjoyed it: the hinoki tub was very comfortable, and it didn’t take long to fill. What stood out most was the outstanding quality of dinner. The kaiseki course featuring seasonal local ingredients such as Takezaki crab immediately draws you in with its dashi—clear yet deeply flavorful, beautifully balanced. Each dish reflected the season in both taste and presentation: refined and truly beautiful. Beyond ingredient quality alone, there was a confident simplicity backed by real skill. Even on a Multiple Night Stay, every meal was flawless at an exceptional level. Simply superb—thank you for such a feast. Another highlight was visiting teamLab’s art installations at the affiliated Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel on the same grounds (guests of Chikurintei can enter free). From the moment you step into the lobby, you’re struck by countless lamps evoking forest flowers and sunlight filtering through trees. The most breathtaking work was “Megalis in Ruins Bathhouse,” where digital projections of seasonal flowers illuminate massive stones rising throughout an abandoned public-bath space. When we visited, different scenes cycled continuously—twelve distinct visuals representing all months—and we became fully immersed for about an hour until they completed one full round late at night before closing. Also worth mentioning: the cold-brew coffee served in the lounge area was delicious—I refilled it many times and enjoyed it back in my Room as well. To everyone at “Oyado Chikurintei,” thank you sincerely for creating such a wonderful stay. I will absolutely return when I visit Takeo Onsen again.

The guest room, hospitality and service, Onsen, Facility, and meals—everything far exceeded my expectations, and I was amazed at how satisfied I was. The atmosphere of the bath and the water were especially wonderful; I wanted to stay in forever. The food was also outstanding, and my wife was delighted. We also enjoyed playing table tennis, and thanks to the light exercise and the Onsen, we slept soundly at night—better than at home. We will definitely return together. This was my first visit. Perhaps due to the season, there were no guests with children, and the Accommodation was very quiet. When I stayed at other Kyukamura properties in the past, most guests were families, so I was used to a lively atmosphere; it made me wonder whether it is usually this quiet here. The calmness was truly pleasant. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, which also made my stay very comfortable. The meals were delicious, and I enjoyed them at a relaxed pace. I would also like to thank the staff member who kindly joined me on short notice and enthusiastically helped with my search for shimaenaga (long-tailed tits). I’m happy to have found another Accommodation I’d like to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

The owners were truly kind and welcoming, and their hospitality was very soothing. The resident dogs, Bell and Cherry, were also adorable. The Room was spacious, and the dog run outside the Room was great. All of the meals were delicious, especially the duck steak, the pudding-like dessert, the fresh salad, the morning cherry tomato salad-like dish, and the egg-salad omelet-style dish. We would love to visit again.

I’d been looking forward to our stay and couldn’t wait after checking the website and YouTube beforehand. On the day, the owner couple welcomed us with warm smiles. In a cute, spotless Room, we enjoyed delicious homemade cookies, and I had a great time chatting with my son. Dinner and breakfast were just as described in the Review—fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. Our time with the cats was short, but we were truly happy. We were delighted to meet the kind owner and his wonderful wife with her lovely smile, as well as Candy, Myu, Yuki, and Haku. Sorry to our cat at home, but we’ll be back again. Thank you in advance.
