  Our Family’s First Trip to Hakone

  It was a family trip where relatives who usually live far away got together for the first time in several years (including seniors and a toddler). All the staff were kind and courteous. The meals were delicious and more than enough in quantity (we had a late lunch, so we were too full and sorry we left quite a lot). The view from the bath was lovely as well—right by the river, with a great atmosphere. We stayed in one Room with six people, but it was spacious enough for our toddler to run around, and the view from the window was amazing (river side). We were very satisfied.

  We had a relaxing stay.

  The service and meals were excellent. It was also great to have access to streaming subscriptions, but a slightly larger TV would have been better.

  A long-established traditional Ryokan with timeless charm

  We stayed here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff were always smiling and kind, and the Accommodation was spotless. The Onsen was especially pleasant—the bottom of the bath was not slippery at all, so we could soak comfortably. The food was truly delicious, though it might not be enough for our sons (laugh). If you associate “aging facilities” with “uncleanliness” based on a Review, you may prefer a newer Hotel instead. We were very satisfied with this charming Ryokan full of atmosphere. Also, the Nepalese staff member left a great impression on us. We would love to stay again.

  Relax and unwind—the ultimate mom’s day off

  This is an old, historic Accommodation, and you can really feel how carefully it has been maintained. The food was delicious as well. The staff member in charge of our Room was very pleasant, and we were able to relax at a leisurely pace. The bath is by the river, and listening to the sound of the water helped me unwind. The water is a little hot. In summer, there may be insects. I would love to see a morning coffee service offered. After a morning bath, I’d like to enjoy coffee on the terrace while looking out at the river. It was a wonderful trip, and I’d like to visit again someday.

  It’s not great.

  The Room was wonderful. The staff who assisted us in the Room were also excellent. Unfortunately, the front desk was disappointing. Even when I called, their attitude came across as bothered, which made it hard to ask for anything else afterward. To be honest, the price and service performance did not match. At this price point, guests expect special treatment; if the hospitality is ordinary, it doesn’t feel worth it. The food was delicious as well, but I would have appreciated more attentive service. The sea bream tea rice was outstanding!
