    I won’t be staying here again.

    I wanted a Multiple Night Stay in a cottage, but there was no availability, so on the second night I stayed in the [With Natural Onsen] Connected Dog-Friendly Cottage (Japanese-Western Room). I was shocked when I saw where it was located: halfway up a cliff on uneven ground. Even though we had a dog and lots of luggage, the parking area was far from the Accommodation at the bottom of a steep slope. I have some difficulty walking, so carrying heavy bags to reach the entrance was very hard. On top of that, the building has three floors, and the indoor stairs are very steep—dangerously so. Younger guests may be fine, but going up and down while carrying luggage or handling a dog felt frightening. The bath, washroom, living room, and bedroom are all on different floors, so using stairs is unavoidable. The musty smell and the extremely loud noise when the air conditioner ran (so loud it drowned out the TV) were also unpleasant. If these points had been clearly stated at Reservation time in advance, it would have helped me decide whether to choose this room type. It was especially disappointing because the cottage we stayed in the previous night was great.

    Cottage Use

    We stayed in a private cottage with an exclusive dog run! The cottage was very clean, quiet, and extremely comfortable.\nDinner was catered in the Room, but there were no drink services, so we went to a convenience store in the evening to buy some. We strongly felt it was necessary to bring our own items in advance.\nThe reception was far from the Room, and the guidance felt a bit rough, so we rated it 4 stars. However, we were very satisfied with the Room and found the hinoki bath soothing. We will stay again!

    Winter Heating Fee

    I had a relaxing and comfortable stay. The staff were kind and left a positive impression. This time, I chose the Plan with a cottage equipped with a wood stove, so I hardly used any other heating appliances. Regarding the additional winter heating fee, I felt it would be better if it could be adjusted according to the Plan.

    Enjoy Nature

    The cottage in the forest was wonderful, with monkeys coming right up to the front and the sound of birds. It was great that large dogs were also allowed to stay. However, the meal consisted only of steak and vegetables cooked on a hot plate, along with nozawana pickles. The meat was delicious, but for those who enjoy drinking, additional snacks might be needed, and for rice lovers, bringing miso soup or other items could be necessary.

    We stayed as 3 families with a total of 11 people in two connected units. It was great to move between the units through the connecting door. We had a wonderful time!

    It was cool and very restful.

    We stayed with 11 people, ranging in age from 3 to 70, in two connected cottages (accessible through a connecting door), which was very convenient. The slope and stairs to the cottages are manageable if you can walk independently. The grandchildren and children were thrilled. The catered Shinshu hot pot and the Hotel's breakfast buffet were both delicious.

    The cottage is located on a hill, which may make transportation challenging.

    The cottage is located on a steep hill, making it very challenging to reach the restaurant, especially in the rain. The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill, which makes carrying luggage and moving items to and from the cottage quite difficult. The meals lacked a homemade touch, and the beef was tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing.

    First Azumino Experience

    I chose to stay here because I was attracted to the view from the cottage and the Onsen bath. There were some bees near the cottage entrance, but they didn’t bother me. The view from the cottage and the starry night sky were both amazing. I opted for a breakfast-only plan, and I was very satisfied with the buffet.

    Should have upgraded the room grade!

    The cottage had a charming design with features like an open ceiling and oval windows, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The overall condition was old and somewhat unclean, especially the wallpaper and water facilities. While it was mentioned that cottages may vary, there was a noticeable difference from the photos provided. However, there were positive aspects too—the large rock bath with Onsen water flowing directly from the faucet gave a delightful sense of being in an Onsen town. Cooking facilities were convenient, making it enjoyable to prepare meals freely like in a vacation home. In hindsight, opting for a high-grade renovated cottage might have been better. Still, overly modernized cottages might not suit everyone's taste either. The potential is definitely there; with some improvements to cleanliness and maintenance, this place could truly shine!

    From January 3 to 4, 2025

    I used the property. I entered the address into an app called Navitime on my smartphone and ended up arriving at the back of the hotel, which was a bit of a struggle at first. I didn't know that the check-in was done at the hotel even for cottage use, so there was a slight time loss. The reception staff's service was excellent, and they kindly informed me about the directions to the cottage and the potential danger of the sloped parking lot due to snow, which was very helpful. If I had to say, I often saw people slipping and falling on the way from the parking lot to the cottage, so it might be better to make some arrangements to prevent slipping. The cottage was very satisfying in terms of room, bedroom, and bathroom. When I entered the room, the heating was already on, which was a relief as I visited in the cold. The onsen had a high temperature setting, which made it easy to adjust and enter smoothly. I didn't have dinner, so I can't evaluate that, but overall, it was a very satisfying stay. *It would have been nice to have instant coffee and cotton swabs available.

    A Quiet Moment at the Foot of Mount Jōnen

    The shuttle service and the front desk staff were very kind and attentive. In the cottage, you are expected to prepare your own futon and meals (in the case of a plan without meals). The kitchen is equipped with pots, plates, etc. The cleaning was thorough, and the kitchen was clean. The bath is a regular bathtub inside the cottage, but Onsen water flows, and it was pleasant. Surrounded by trees, you can enjoy coffee on the deck in the morning (instant coffee can be purchased at the shop), which is refreshing. It is also suitable for stays before and after mountain trekking. It seems that the layout and other features differ depending on the cottage. I thought it would be nice to enjoy various types and enjoy Azumino with a multiple night stay.

    Thank you very much to the staff.

    It was the second time since the cottage keys were changed to card keys, and unfortunately, I locked myself out as soon as I arrived... Thank you to the gentleman who came running to unlock the door for me in the light rain!!! I will be more careful from now on... As always, it's a comfortable place, and it's a shame I can't stay during the winter, but I'll visit again in the spring.

    First Cottage Stay

    Since it was my first time staying in a cottage, I had too high expectations. It seems that being served at a Hotel or Ryokan suits me better. I didn't want to do housework even during my trip. I didn't understand the definition of a cottage, so this was my mistake. The hot pot for dinner was very delicious. The breakfast buffet was not so great.
