Petit Hotel Fromage with Cats

We stayed one night at another Accommodation to get our “cat fix,” then booked this place as a couple after seeing reviews saying the food was excellent and you could meet adorable cats. The exterior is incredibly charming.We were able to use the “Now’s the Time for Ito!” campaign, so we got a great deal.We chose a Room with an ocean view, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t great—so we’d love to come back for a retry.The baths are private and require a Reservation after check-in. In addition to an indoor bath, there is also a semi-open-air bath with a small garden; it has a roof and walls so you can’t see the outside scenery. It’s genuine Onsen water, and since it was mosquito season, they even had an adorable cat-themed mosquito coil burning.Because we had an early departure the next morning, we chose a Plan with dinner only—but the meal was so surprisingly delicious it felt like dining at a starred restaurant, and we regretted not adding breakfast.The sashimi was fresh, and each dish was carefully handmade—some unlike anything we’d had before. Everything was delicious: spring rolls, small side dishes, simmered golden eye snapper (kinmedai), white rice, and more. Even the hamburger steak served toward the end wasn’t greasy or heavy, and the portion size was just right. Dessert also offered variety: fruit, cake, and ice cream. The cookies in the Room—and even the cookies given as souvenirs—were excellent too. This is an Accommodation worth visiting just for the food alone. We’ve stayed at many Hotels and Ryokan around Japan, and my wife and I still talk about how amazed we were by how good the cuisine here is.After dinner there was time to interact with the cats. It’s not overly hands-on cuddling time, but the owner let us hold one of them and take photos (the cat looked slightly unimpressed!).The owner and his wife were extremely kind, and their hospitality truly came through. At checkout it was raining quite heavily; they lent us an umbrella for walking to our car—and even came out again to retrieve it after we got in. We’d love to return.

I’d been looking forward to our stay and couldn’t wait after checking the website and YouTube beforehand.On the day, the owner couple welcomed us with warm smiles. In a cute, spotless Room, we enjoyed delicious homemade cookies, and I had a great time chatting with my son. Dinner and breakfast were just as described in the Review—fresh, tasty, and very satisfying.Our time with the cats was short, but we were truly happy. We were delighted to meet the kind owner and his wonderful wife with her lovely smile, as well as Candy, Myu, Yuki, and Haku.Sorry to our cat at home, but we’ll be back again. Thank you in advance.
