Amenities are minimal, so it’s best to bring your own. The staff were excellent. The entrance feels upscale and resort-like. The pool staff were all kind as well. Access to the lounge was very satisfying. However, depending on the time of day, small children were running around and being noisy. It’s not the Hotel’s fault and can’t really be helped, but it was a bit disappointing. The elevators get crowded. Overall, I’d like to stay at this Hotel again.

    Your First Mercure Experience

I’d heard about Mercure in another prefecture from a friend, so I decided to stay here this time. I was very satisfied—the wide variety of all-you-can-drink options, the surprisingly extensive pool facilities for a Hotel, how close it is to the beach and the range of activities, and the great view from the window. I’d like to stay again, but if I could make one request, I’d like you to add more coin laundry machines. I think there are too few for the total number of Rooms. Especially during free drink time, it was frustrating when people didn’t come to pick up their laundry on time. Other than that, everything was excellent.

    Family Trip

This was my first stay. The lounge access was included, but it was extremely crowded at night and there were no seats available, which was very disappointing. Breakfast was also included, but the wait list showed over 1,000 people, so I asked to switch to breakfast at Alivila; both mornings we ate at Alivila and it was very delicious. The pool also had no available seating and felt completely over capacity. In addition, the lanai had no table or chairs. This was my first time experiencing this at an oceanfront resort Hotel in Okinawa or overseas, and it was disappointing. I wish I had stayed at Alivila instead. The Room itself had been renovated and was clean and comfortable.

We are satisfied with the Executive Lounge and the pool.

We stayed here for the second time, following last year’s visit, because our two elementary school-aged children strongly wanted to enjoy the pool and marine activities (the floating water obstacle course) one more time. The pool is among the best in Okinawa, and they really enjoyed the floating water obstacle course as well. Last year, the elevator wait times were far too long, and the first-floor lounge was crowded at night with many guests showing poor manners. This time, since there were separate elevators for the Executive Floor and regular guests, we hardly experienced any congestion. The Executive Lounge spans an entire floor with a great view—absolutely excellent. If you stay here, choosing a plan with access to the Executive Lounge is the only option.

    Kids’ Room

Although I stayed on the Executive Floor, the restaurant, lounge, and even the lobby all felt like a kids’ playroom. It may be a good fit for families with children in elementary school or younger. In the 13th-floor lounge, even after 9:00 p.m., preschoolers were running around noisily playing tag and hide-and-seek on the sofas, and neither parents nor staff intervened. I would have preferred a calmer atmosphere.

This Hotel is perfect for families and highly satisfying.

I’m a fan of Grand Mercure. This Hotel offers a great selection of complimentary juices and snacks, which makes it easy to enjoy them casually throughout your stay. The pool was especially impressive, and we were able to use the water slide without much waiting. There are several different pool areas, so guests are spread out and it didn’t feel overly crowded. On the other hand, the beach had quite a few stones on the sand before entering the water, which was a bit painful barefoot. Compared with the pool facilities, it felt like less attention had been given to the beach area. The large public bath was also spacious and very comfortable. Overall, I was highly satisfied and would like to stay here again. Because it’s lively with children, it may not be suitable for those looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.

    3 Nights at Mercure

We stayed for three nights. Compared to last year, the quality of the meals had declined, and there was nothing we found truly delicious. Next year we may not choose a meal plan.. The manners in the large public bath were poor, and the changing room was covered with hair and felt dirty. Since many guests use it, the floor should be cleaned regularly. On the first day, the indoor bath had a fishy smell, so after that we only used the outdoor bath. All of the staff were kind, and we had a pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

    A Kids’ Paradise

Pool access, unlimited juice, and all-you-can-eat snacks—probably heaven for kids. They were thrilled. It’s always nice to see children having fun. However, if you’re looking to relax or want a luxurious atmosphere… It was very crowded. There were especially many children, so it was quite lively. Moët was served in the Executive Lounge from the evening, but it didn’t really feel relaxing, which was a shame (lol). Since they’ve gone to the trouble of offering such good drinks, I wish there had been a bit more food to pair with them. Lastly, one thing I really think should be improved is the cold plunge pool. The sauna temperature is great, but the cold plunge is far too lukewarm, which cuts the refreshment in half. On top of that, because it isn’t cold enough, it basically turns into a kids’ pool… Such a waste. There’s also no space for outdoor air bathing/cool-down time—if they improve this area too, I think hardworking dads would really appreciate it.

    Overall, disappointing...

[GOOD] - The staff were polite and welcoming, always with a smile. - It was great that drinks at the poolside bar were all-you-can-drink. - The breakfast buffet was crowded, but being able to join the waitlist via LINE and wait in the Room was very convenient. [MORE] - The elevator wait times were so long that it became stressful. - The Room walls seemed thin, and I could hear conversations and footsteps from the hallway and neighboring Rooms. - Rain came into the Room through gaps around the window, which made me feel the fittings were not well sealed. - The balcony was dirty right after check-in, which dampened my mood from day one.

I visited two years in a row.

We stayed here for the first time last year, and our child had so much fun in the pool that they said they wanted to come again this year—so we stayed for 3 nights. This year we chose a Plan with lounge access. The buffet breakfast can get crowded, but with lounge access we were able to enter smoothly without a reservation in the morning, and we had breakfast in the lounge all three days. The selection is smaller, but there was everything our family wanted—fruit, salads, and more—so it wasn’t an issue. More than variety, we were happier with the relaxed space and how uncrowded it was. The staff were kind as well! As for the pool, just like last year it was fun of course, but what stood out again was how many lifeguards there were. Especially at night, they regularly got into the water in the large pool and watched carefully—it made us feel truly safe. Our child isn’t a strong swimmer, so we worry about water accidents, and we really appreciated this. They also spoke to children who didn’t seem to know where their parents were, and if a child looked borderline for the height requirement on the slide they checked properly by measuring them. The lifeguards here are genuinely outstanding!! This year we also tried the ocean obstacle course and the glass boat. Our child just wanted to stay at the Hotel all day long. We went sightseeing for one day, but otherwise we enjoyed staying at the Hotel!! It’s not a luxury Hotel (sorry), but it balances “kids have fun!” with “kids can enjoy safely,” so we’re very satisfied as a Hotel to visit for children. Compared with last year there seemed to be more Okinawa-style options at dinner, plus food trucks on site—so lunch choices felt broader too. Thank you very much.

Thank you for taking care of us for two days. We chose a Japanese-style Room because we had a young child, but the shelves were white with dust, and it was hard to tell if the tatami had been cleaned—trash stuck to our child’s feet, and ants appeared everywhere. The pool was excellent, but on the other hand, if the pool can’t be used due to a typhoon or similar weather, there isn’t much else to do. It also felt overpriced considering there wasn’t even water provided in the Room.

For use during the summer vacation period.

We stayed for two nights during summer vacation with our middle and high school children! It was simply so much fun. We were thrilled to see fireworks on the first day!! The adventure course and the slides were great, and the relaxing evening time in the lounge was perfect. The three days flew by, and we were sad to leave. We were surprised when we saw how many guests were using breakfast, but it never felt crowded at all, and we had everything we needed—completely satisfied.

    Large-scale Resort Hotel

This Hotel was very enjoyable for families with children. However, the crowds around the free drinks and snacks and the elevator congestion were terrible. In particular, since the 9:00 PM drink time is advertised as including alcohol service, I think minors should be prohibited. There was trash in front of the elevator, and it remained there for two days; I think cleaning should be improved. The breakfast buffet is the same every day and gets repetitive, so it’s better to use reciprocal dining options.

My children loved this Hotel, so this is our second stay. There are water slides and a pool for younger kids, so even siblings with a big age gap can enjoy it. There were fireworks at night as well. We were also very satisfied with the inflatable obstacle course in the sea. The only complaint is that the coin laundry gets extremely crowded. They should add more washing machines and dryers.

    Wi‑Fi was not available.

I understood this is a family-oriented Hotel and not a luxury property, but it was below my expectations, so I’m posting this review. The air conditioning in the lobby, restaurant, guest rooms, and lounge was far too cold. Even when set to low in the Room, it was still too cold to leave on continuously, so I had to repeatedly turn it on and off. I used the buffet restaurant for dinner, but staff could not keep up with clearing tables, and used plates were left scattered around. If staffing is short during peak periods, I think asking guests to place dishes on a cart would ultimately feel more comfortable than the current situation. There were not enough elevators for the number of guest rooms, and we often had to wait a long time. Perhaps because of that, a service elevator was made available, but the guidance/signage was unclear; since it’s for staff use, it felt stark and intimidating. The Wi‑Fi speed was poor and I could not connect even once in my Room. Since I couldn’t work at all, I cut my Multiple Night Stay short, paid the Cancellation Fee, and moved to another Hotel. I travel seeking an escape from everyday life, but this made me feel that staying home would have been far better—so I won’t be returning.

    Summer Vacation Family Trip

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days in early August. We returned because our kids were very happy when we visited in fall 2024. We also went to Alivila, but our kids seem to prefer Mercure. This time, due to a typhoon, we had to shorten our stay to just 1 night, so we only used the pool on the first day, dinner, and breakfast. We couldn’t really relax at all, but we were satisfied with the meals. The pool was indeed crowded and the water looked cloudy. The poolside benches also seemed to be taken, so it was hard to find a place to sit. Considering the number of guests, I’d like them to add more seating or have staff manage it better. There were many seats that appeared reserved even though it was unclear whether anyone was actually using them. Waiting for the elevator didn’t bother us much. I’m dissatisfied with the front desk service. It was polite last time, but this time I wasn’t sure whether they understood what I was saying. Also, we tried to ask a staff member to take a family photo, but only one person was available—a tall white staff member who felt quite intimidating. Even though I didn’t feel comfortable approaching him, there was no one else. He was extremely unfriendly and didn’t respond—more like “I’ll take it” with an unpleasant attitude. It was awful. Maybe he didn’t understand the language, but even so, I don’t think he is suited for customer service.

    I’m a returning guest.

This was my third stay. It was always very crowded when I stayed during the high season, but this time I felt there were many improvements. Check-in was smoother than before. The elevators were smoother. The dining area was also smoother. I really enjoyed my stay.

For use during the Obon holiday in August 2026.

We stayed for two nights during the Obon holiday period after the typhoon had passed. This Reservation was made in September 2025 (11 months in advance). From the time we booked until just before departure, I read various Reviews and felt increasingly anxious. In particular: not enough pool loungers, not enough elevators, and check-in taking an hour. In conclusion, there were not enough pool loungers. Before Obon, a notice was posted on the official website asking guests to refrain from reserving seats before the pool opens, but no one followed it. Around 6:00 a.m., watching the pool from our balcony, I saw adults (mostly men) securing loungers with bath towels and float rings. If there are no loungers available, you can borrow something like a leisure mat to place your belongings on the lawn and still claim a spot. (I brought my own mat.) As for the elevator shortage, it honestly wasn’t very stressful. That’s because elevators are separated between those for the executive floors and those for other guests. It gets somewhat crowded depending on the time of day, but even though it seemed like around 1,500 people were staying during Obon, we waited about five minutes at most. During peak times, staff will guide you to use a service elevator. Regarding check-in: since we had been sightseeing and ended up checking in at 5:00 p.m., there was no line (laughs), so it went smoothly. This time we chose an Executive Twin with No Meals Included. It was truly comfortable—we didn’t have to go to the breakfast venue where it was “1,450 people waiting!”, and instead could enjoy breakfast at a relaxed pace on the top floor while looking out over Zanpa Cape and the ocean. Note: there are no windows in the second-floor breakfast venue. Unless you specifically want to try lots of different foods, I recommend a Plan without breakfast. As for our Room: two adults (over 180 cm and 150 cm tall) plus two middle school students (170–150 cm tall)—four people total—with four beds set up, and it did not feel cramped. There were no unpleasant odors when entering; overall it was comfortable. The refrigerator is empty. There is water available on each floor, but strangely it didn’t taste good—so buying bottled water is probably safer. Overall—considering this used to be Zanpa Royal—you can see some aging in parts of the building, but it’s not nearly as bad as some make it sound. As long as you don’t arrive expecting a luxury resort experience, there’s really no problem. Families can have a great time here.

    Considering the cost

It didn’t feel worth the cost. Since we stayed in an expensive Room, we might have been more satisfied with a cheaper one. The first thing that stood out was the limited amenities. You may be able to get what you need by asking at the front desk, but it still felt a bit lacking. All the staff were cheerful and provided good service. We were also happy with the pool. However, perhaps because it was crowded, the nearby beach wasn’t very clear. It might be better to go to a less crowded beach.

The staff seemed to focus only on their assigned tasks, and we did not feel the level of hospitality found at other hotels. Even in the lounge, staff were only restocking and clearing away, with no reception or assistance. In any case, there were very few staff, and it felt like we barely communicated with anyone during our stay. The elevators are extremely inconvenient. The pool and beach are great for children, but they were very crowded.

We stayed as a family during the summer holidays. The property was well maintained and clean overall. We used the executive lounge; there was a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, but we wished there were a few more juice options. The pool facilities were excellent, and the children were very satisfied. This is a Hotel we would like to stay at again if we have the opportunity. Thank you for your hospitality.

It became an unforgettable summer vacation memory!

As a family of five from Okinawa, we had wanted to stay at this Hotel since last year and made a Reservation, but ongoing health issues in the family meant we had to Cancel the Reservation twice. We were all truly disappointed. This year, we were determined to try again. The day of our Reservation was forecast for a direct typhoon hit, so we consulted the Hotel staff. They told us there were still a few Rooms available on other dates, so we immediately changed our dates and rebooked starting after the typhoon passed. Because it was a last-minute Reservation, we didn’t request any specific Room. On arrival, we were guided quickly at check-in, and our Room was upgraded to a high floor. We also had access to the lounge—our whole family kept saying what a wonderful Hotel it is. We were deeply moved by the thoughtful hospitality. We will definitely come back again next year. The pool was great, and every staff member and service was excellent—and above all, all of the food was delicious. Thank you so much for giving us such wonderful summer memories!

    We stayed for 3 nigh...

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days starting on 8/9. Our kids love pools, so we chose this Hotel because of the great selection of slides. The pool was closed on our arrival day due to the typhoon, but it reopened for the night pool and the kids were thrilled! They swam every day and were very satisfied. As for the ocean obstacle course, Reservations opened at 7:00 a.m. on the day, but while I was entering the required information online, all slots filled up. We couldn’t get our preferred time and had to change our plans, which was disappointing. The executive lounge was comfortable and overall very good, but it was a shame that the menu was exactly the same every day. A little variety would be appreciated for guests on a Multiple Night Stay. Our kids also enjoyed the summer festival stalls and went every day! Many thanks to all the staff there. We’d love to visit again if we have another chance!

    The front desk staff...

The front desk staff were foreigners, and their Japanese was difficult to understand. We had a Multiple Night Stay, but it was disappointing that breakfast was the same every day. The pool water was dirty again this year. There were also long lines for the washing machines; with so many guests, there were not nearly enough. Because of the typhoon we couldn’t use the pool, and many people seemed bored, so I wished there had been more efforts to entertain guests. Overall, it didn’t feel worth the cost and was disappointing.

    Perfect for family trips.

We chose this Hotel because we have two children (12 and 10) and it offers plenty of pool and beach activities. We stayed for about a week on a Plan that included two meals plus lounge access. The Room and Facility were clean and nice, but the food was disappointing. We used the Hotel restaurant only once each for breakfast and dinner, but it was simply a very large buffet-style venue. While it was all-you-can-eat and drink (including alcohol), it felt hectic, not very clean, and although there seemed to be many options, there wasn’t much we actually wanted to eat. Since we could use the nearby Nikko Hotel as well, we ended up going there every day instead. The lounge was relatively calm and comfortable, so we were satisfied with that. It was still before peak season in June, but as others have mentioned, the elevators hardly ever came! With only three elevators, long lines sometimes formed. If you ask whether I would stay again, I’m not sure—but the kids seemed to have a great time. Breakfast was extremely crowded too, so I wish there were an option to switch it to lunch instead. When people say “all-inclusive” at overseas hotels, it usually means breakfast, lunch, dinner—everything is included no matter what. Is it different in Japan? It didn’t feel truly “all,” so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

It was a Hotel that children could enjoy.

We stayed here for a family trip during summer vacation. When I mentioned at the time of our Reservation that this was also a birthday trip for my husband, we found a message and a small gift in our Room, which made him very happy. There were plenty of pool and ocean activities, and our two elementary-school-aged sons had a great time. As I had seen in Reviews beforehand, there were some minor concerns about waiting for the elevator and the cleanliness of the large public bath, but considering the price, Facilities, and service, I felt it was acceptable. We would definitely like to stay again.

    It was my first stay...

It was my first stay, and I found it a Hotel that is difficult to rate. While the pool-related Facilities are well equipped, I was strictly told that towels are limited to one per person, which felt unrealistic; meanwhile, even when some guests kept deck chairs or floats reserved for long periods, there was no warning or intervention. The guest room was inconvenient with no hangers or drying rack, and soundproofing was also lacking as hallway voices were clearly audible. Meals, including in the lounge, had limited variety and were the same every day. There was no staff at the entrance to assist, so I was confused upon arrival. For a large-scale Hotel, there were only about 10 washing machines, which felt insufficient. The number of elevators also seemed limited, and sometimes we could not get on. Considering all of the above, it felt overpriced.

    I’d definitely stay here again.

We stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room with access to the executive lounge. The Room was flawless, and we had a very comfortable stay. We stayed for three nights (Multiple Night Stay), and housekeeping was basically not provided unless requested. That system was great because we didn’t have to worry about someone entering the Room while we were out. If you leave used towels, pajamas, and trash in the hallway, they will collect them and replenish fresh items. Some Reviews mention that having only three elevators causes extreme congestion, but it seemed like two additional elevators had been added, making a total of five available, so it wasn’t particularly stressful. We only used the breakfast buffet. It wasn’t the “one perfect signature dish” type; rather, it felt like a safe, well-rounded selection with strength in variety. For the large public bath, you have to bring towels from your Room, and there is no facial cleanser in the bathing area—so amenities get -1. It gets extremely crowded around 9:00 PM when the pool closes, so be aware. We used the pool from early afternoon, but perhaps because of Okinawa’s sun warming it up, it felt more like lukewarm bathwater and didn’t feel refreshing—so -1. The floating water obstacle course has fewer usable time slots than expected due to tides/wind and fitting it into your schedule, so if that’s your main purpose for visiting, I recommend checking with the Hotel in advance. There were some minor points that stood out to us here and there, but overall we had a fun and comfortable stay every day. Even though it was during peak summer vacation season (a busy period), we never felt worn out by crowds. If we go to Okinawa again, we’d love to return!

    I would stay again, but…

Stayed again this year to use the pool. As before, there was a very long line at check-in and not enough staff. There also aren’t enough elevators, so we often had to use the stairs, and the step in the guest room felt unsafe. Honestly, it can be stressful at times, but as long as that pool is there, I’ll keep coming back. The meals were satisfying as well. Improving the Facility may be difficult, but I do hope you can increase staffing.
