We hope it will be made even more comfortable.

It was really inconvenient that the clothes rack was placed near the entrance. There is a closet at the very back of the Room, but I think it would be much more practical if there were just a few hooks on the wall by the entrance. The breakfast buffet had the same menu every morning, so for guests on a Multiple Night Stay, half of the enjoyment is lost; I felt that having some rotation would prevent it from getting repetitive. The Hotel staff were polite and kind, and the bath was comfortable to use.

    Free drinks

It would be great if a free drink option were included with dinner. Since drinks are available in the lounge after bathing, it would be nice to have a similar service in the dining area as well. Otherwise, we were quite satisfied!

With every visit, an even better Accommodation

I’ve stayed here several times since it opened. The Accommodation features German-style interiors and a fairy-tale world inspired by the Brothers Grimm. There are two Room types: “Hansel and Gretel” in a green theme, and “Little Red Riding Hood” in a red theme. “Little Red Riding Hood” also has pink-toned walls for a stronger storybook feel. The suite-type Deluxe Twin is this one, but personally I prefer the calmer green Room. The highlight is, of course, the Onsen. You can enjoy three different Kusatsu hot spring sources as free-flowing baths throughout the night. Each Room also has a relatively large open-air bath. It’s a Japanese-style wooden tub; this one is not free-flowing—you fill it each time by pressing a switch. The free-flow offerings change by time slot, with items like hot chocolate and nuts available. I’m happy with the selection, but it’s slightly inconvenient that the serving area and seating are in separate rooms, so you need to step into the hallway and carry your drinks to the next room. Since they’re adjacent spaces, combining them into one larger lounge would make it easier to use. Also, if you choose the later dinner seating, an additional light dish of soup and sausage is served. This is highly recommended. The restaurant hosts “Manos,” a long-established Russian restaurant from Asakusa. When it first opened there were items like piroshki and Russian tea as well, but now creative French cuisine is the focus. You can still sense Manos’s character in classics like stuffed cabbage rolls. This time in particular, I was impressed by the excellent service from the female staff member who looked after our table. Her explanations of each dish and ingredient were thorough, delivering truly high-quality service for a French restaurant. We enjoyed our roughly two-hour meal from start to finish. The food keeps improving with every visit. This time especially, the roast beef was outstanding—an exceptionally well-composed plate right down to the sides and horseradish sauce. The takikomi rice at the end and red miso soup were also delicious. On the other hand—and I feel this every time—compared with how complete everything else is across the course menu, I’d be glad to see just one more touch of creativity in dessert. I’ve stayed here multiple times since opening, and each visit shows steady improvements to points that previously stood out—overall quality as an Accommodation continues to rise. With its Onsen, cuisine, and service all becoming more refined over time, it’s getting closer to my ideal Onsen Accommodation. I’d love to return again in another season.

The building, interior, and bath were great, but…

I was a little disappointed that the all-you-can-drink alcohol in the lounge was limited to beer only. Also, I was disappointed that the food overall was quite lightly seasoned and tasted bland. I had been looking forward to the tomato ramen and soy sauce ramen in the lounge as well, but they were also lightly seasoned. The tomato ramen in particular had no tomato flavor at all. It was nice that extra tomato was available, but even after adding it, it still didn’t feel like I was eating tomato ramen. It was very different from what I had imagined, which was very disappointing. The bath wasn’t very large, but it warmed me up well and felt great. If I had to ask for one thing, I wish the changing area were a bit more spacious. The open-air bath in the guest room was excellent.

    A clean and comfortable Hotel

We were satisfied with everything—the bath, the service, and the Facility. It made for a wonderful trip. The meals were delicious as well, but dinner could be a bit more casual. The breakfast buffet had a great variety and was tasty, but personally, I’d be happy if there were scrambled eggs and sausages.

We made our first stay at La Vista.

After seeing posts saying “La Vista Hotel is wonderful,” I’d been wanting to stay at La Vista Hotel at least once, and this time I made my debut in Kusatsu. From the beautifully maintained garden at the entrance to the lovely interior design throughout the building, everything was impressive. Even though there were only two of us, we stayed in a four-person Room with an open-air bath, which was spacious and fantastic. They offered complimentary beer and ice cream after bathing, and in the morning there were Yakult drinks and milk available—truly attentive service. Since it’s far from Yubatake, they provide a Shuttle Service by car. All the staff were cheerful and welcoming. As others have said, breakfast was on a higher level than typical buffets—beyond satisfying. It was a wonderful Hotel where you can fully enjoy Kusatsu’s famous hot springs. I’d love to visit other La Vista locations as well.

Definitely! I’d love to stay here again.

It was a very beautiful Hotel with great service, and I felt the staff’s hospitality and attentiveness were wonderful. The in-room open-air bath was also excellent! I think guests would be even happier if there were direct access from the shower room to the open-air bath. The distance is short, but I couldn’t help worrying about water dripping while moving around when wet, so with a little improvement it would be perfect. For guests, dining is also an important point, and it was very good! I also posted photos—late-night ramen was delicious, especially the tomato ramen recommended by the staff. It’s a Hotel that made me want to visit again after a long time. To all staff members (including makeup and bed-making), thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

    This was my first st...

This was my first stay here. It was also my first time visiting Kusatsu Onsen and staying at La Vista, and it was an Accommodation that made me want to come back. The Room had a calm atmosphere and felt just the right size—not too large or too small. In addition to the sink, it was very convenient to have running water available in both the toilet area and the Room. I think this Hotel is also well suited for a relaxing stay indoors, so I felt it would be nice if the in-room TV could connect to the internet. Dinner was also very delicious. The cabbage roll, Joshu Wagyu beef, and the Vienna coffee after the meal were especially memorable. For dessert, since it included ice cream and half a peach, it would be helpful if a knife and spoon could be provided in addition to a fork. Breakfast offered a great variety and tasted excellent as well. I had the soy sauce–flavored late-night soba; it was light, simple, and delicious. All of the staff were pleasant, which made for a comfortable stay. Although I assume there were many guests staying at the same time, I didn’t particularly notice any noise or voices and was able to relax. I’d like to visit Kusatsu Onsen again, and when I do, I would like to stay at this Accommodation.

    All-inclusive Onsen indulgence

We checked in and went straight to the private bath. It was a Plan that allowed check-in at 2:00 PM, but the large public bath and lounge cannot be used until 3:00 PM. After 3:00 PM, you can enjoy the lounge, large public bath, private bath, guest rooms, as well as Onsen, drinks, ice cream, and more. The breakfast and dinner were also delicious. We fully enjoyed three different types of Onsen in the property.

We were extremely satisfied with our stay.

We stayed for two nights in a Deluxe Twin Room with a semi-open-air bath. The Room was spotless and well designed, and the bath (Onsen) was wonderful and truly refreshing—though I may have overdone it because it felt so good. The staff were also extremely pleasant and attentive. The dinner course was exceptionally high quality; every dish was outstanding, the portions were just right, and the timing of each course was perfect. Among the Western-style meals I’ve had at Hotels I’ve stayed at, this ranks near the very top. The breakfast buffet also offered a wide variety of items, with equally high quality, and everything was delicious. This isn’t the Hotel’s fault, but the only thing that concerned me was dinner on the second night. Guests at nearby tables were constantly sneezing and coughing, which made me a bit uneasy about catching something.

    Highly satisfied.

This was our first trip to Kusatsu, and we stayed here. The Reviews were great, so we arrived with high expectations—and it truly lived up to them! The Room was spacious, and having the bath and toilet separate was a real plus. We wondered if Kusatsu’s hot spring water might be good for skin and hair. My spouse and I both have sensitive skin, but we didn’t feel itchy at all—our skin felt moisturized, and our hair became soft and smooth too! What made it even better was the wonderful group of guests. We were able to relax in a calm atmosphere. We also really enjoyed the food—both the dinner course and the breakfast buffet were delicious. We also appreciated the lounge food and drinks that changed throughout the day. If I could make one request, I would be happy if the slippers were disposable. This is a Hotel we’d love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    The Onsen is amazing.

This was my first stay. Since the property is for guests aged junior high school and above, it had a calm atmosphere and I was able to relax. Dinner was a course meal at the restaurant, but the seat we were shown to was a window-side counter seat, and the setting sun was dazzling... They lowered the blind partway through, but since other seats were available, it would be better not to use that seat at that time. All of the dishes were delicious. The breakfast buffet also had a great variety and was very tasty. The large public bath happened to be empty when I went, so I was very satisfied. In the morning, I used the open-air bath in my Room while being soothed by the sound of Japanese bush warblers. The service, including drinks, was attentive and made for a comfortable stay. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

No matter how many times I stay, I’m always satisfied.

This was my fourth stay. I love Kusatsu and visit three or four times a year, and I have stayed at La Vista Kusatsu Hills four times in a row. I am very satisfied with the large public bath, the private reservable baths, and the open-air bath in the Room. The view from the hill is also wonderful. I also enjoy the meals—not only the dinner course, but especially how delicious breakfast is.

Due to a malfunction of the private open-air bath drain valve, the in-room open-air bath is unavailable.

I was dissatisfied with the Hotel’s response to the outdoor bath malfunction. I would have appreciated more considerate service. It was disappointing and left a bad aftertaste on my trip. When using the large public bath, many guests entered without washing first, so I think the Hotel should post notices or otherwise inform guests.

    A cozy, quiet accommodation

I stayed here toward the end of July, and it was a very comfortable Accommodation. Not only was the Room spacious, but it was also great that there was an air purifier and a TV placed exactly where you’d want them. The open-air bath in the Room looked small at first glance, but it was larger than expected, and it was very relaxing to soak while enjoying the view. The Onsen on the top floor was also wonderful—especially the scenic bath, where you can soak while looking out over the townscape of Kusatsu and feeling Kusatsu’s cool breeze. As an aside, I really liked the body wash amenities provided in both the public bath and the in-room bath; they smelled great. The public bath also offered a “shampoo bar” selection, which I thought was a thoughtful touch. The four private baths were excellent as well—you can fully enjoy some solo time while experiencing two types of Onsen: Bandai-ko and Yubatake. Also impressive is the lounge service on the same top floor as the Onsen. There wasn’t just late-night soba; there were also ice cream at snack time, sausages and soup at night, and even an apple juice tasting in the morning… The variety of offerings kept things interesting throughout my stay. For meals, dinner was a French course meal and breakfast was a buffet. Both felt perfectly satisfying—exactly what you want from hotel dining. At dinner, I especially remember the Joshu beef roast and after-dinner drinks. At breakfast, the omelet and Mizusawa udon stood out. Overall, this is an Accommodation with wonderful hospitality and service. If I had to mention one minor point: the pickles served with the lounge sausages were extremely sour and didn’t suit my taste. I’d love to stay again next summer.

The view of Kusatsu Onsen from the 6th-floor panoramic bath is wonderful.

Kusatsu Hills is an adults-only Accommodation for guests aged 18 and over—perfect for those seeking relaxation. Perhaps due to rising prices, the milk served at the 6th-floor morning lounge is now only plain. It used to come in four flavors. Since some guests don’t like plain milk, I would like it to be brought back.

    I’m completely satisfied again.

This was my sixth stay. I always stay for two nights and three days, and this time again the staff were extremely courteous—everyone was kind and helpful. The property is clean, the in-house services are plentiful, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. The Room was comfortable, and I had no complaints about the amenities at all—my stay was stress-free from start to finish. Dinner was delicious, with just the right amount for a course meal, and breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options; everything tasted great, with a well-balanced selection that left me pleasantly full. My favorite feature is the in-room Onsen: each time, you can fill it with fresh water at the push of a button. Some people mention that they can’t get in right after check-in or that the water is too hot, but if it’s hot, simply press the button as soon as you arrive and let it cool while you take a break in the lounge—by the time you return to your Room, it’s at a comfortable temperature. You can also let it cool while you’re out for dinner or late-night noodles; when you come back, you can enjoy your Onsen. A constantly filled bath or a flowing bath is nice too, but I think what makes Kyoritsu Resort special is being able to enjoy fresh Onsen every time at the touch of a button. It feels like such a luxury—and I truly appreciate this system. I had another very comfortable two nights and three days. Thank you very much.

    We stayed for two ni...

We stayed for two nights in two Rooms for three people, mainly because each Room has a private open-air Onsen bath and the price was fairly reasonable. Overall, the staff came across as calm and businesslike—neither especially friendly nor rude—just focused on working efficiently. These days, that may feel more comfortable than being overly attentive. I had a few minor complaints during the stay, but with expectations at the level of a Business Hotel, they didn’t bother me much. However, two issues still left me dissatisfied. First: we left our suitcases before check-in, and it was good that they were delivered to the Rooms in advance—but with two Rooms and two suitcases, it seems obvious that one should go to each Room. Instead, both suitcases were delivered to one Room. If they weren’t sure, I would have preferred they hand them to us at check-in. The person whose suitcase didn’t arrive was quite upset. Second: when I requested a different size of loungewear and it was delivered, the attitude really annoyed me—after ringing the bell there was immediate repeated knocking without pause, and then silent, unfriendly behavior when handing it over. In the past I might have demanded to speak with the manager (laugh). That said, the Onsen was excellent and the food was delicious, so if I come back to Kusatsu again, I may stay here again. Thank you in advance if so.

    Golden Week

Overall, my stay was comfortable. Dinner included many dishes and was delicious. I would have liked the breakfast buffet to offer a wider variety. The bus to Karuizawa encountered traffic on the way, but thanks to the driver’s consideration it was comfortable. Because this bus service was available, we were able to add an extra night in Karuizawa. It might be worth promoting it more as a Karuizawa Multiple Night Stay option. The private bath did not have a washing area, so we moved to the large public bath. I wish the private bath had a washing area. For many women drying their hair after bathing, it felt like there were too few seats in front of the mirrors and too few hair dryers in the women’s bath. I would like the body towel to be a bit thicker. I used the spa treatment, and since various products are applied to the body, it would be great if loungewear could be provided before and after the treatment if possible. Differences from what I expected compared with Kyoritsu Resort Ryokan in Hakone: There were no small Häagen-Dazs ice creams or small snack packs. In the women’s bath there were no ReFa hair dryers, and many of them had weak airflow. Also, there wasn’t a full set in my Room including coffee beans for hand-grinding unless requested at reception. Same as what I expected compared with Kyoritsu Resort Ryokan in Hakone: The late-night soba (ramen) was very good in both taste and portion size. The staff were kind and courteous.

Recommended for families looking to relax and unwind.

In addition to the excellent hot springs, the private open-air bath that requires no Reservation was very convenient, and we enjoyed it comfortably. The Room was new, spacious, and comfortable, so we were able to relax and take it easy. What was disappointing was that breakfast Reservations are made after dinner, so since we had a late dinner there were few time slots left for us. It would feel fairer if guests could choose in check-in order. Our breakfast Reservation was from 8:45, but both food and drinks stopped being served at 9:30, so it felt very rushed. If the time is that limited, I would have liked to be informed when selecting the time. Also, although it can’t be helped, some items were not replenished. If they won’t be replenished, I think it would be better to remove them from the menu display so guests aren’t disappointed. It was especially unfortunate because the food itself was delicious. Despite all that, it was a wonderful Hotel where we would like to stay again if we have the chance.

Very good, but once is enough.

The atmosphere and service were excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. However, personally, I felt that visiting once was enough. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Thank you for upgrading our Room. Even though we arrived early, thank you for letting us wait inside. The yukata were cute, but there weren’t enough for everyone, and I felt sorry that the foreign guest who wanted to wear one couldn’t. The French-course beef was tender and delicious.

    The fairy tale–theme...

The fairy tale–themed Room decor was charming, and having a vanity table was convenient. Since there were no small children, the large public bath and restaurant were not noisy, so we could relax in peace. It was also great to enjoy waters from different Onsen sources. Above all, I was surprised by how extensive the lounge services were. The Western-style dinner course looked beautiful, but the quality of the ingredients was not very good. It also felt a bit odd that the staff explained one by one which knife and fork to use. After visiting many Onsen, this has become one of my favorites. I would definitely like to come again.

    Buffet Restaurant

The food selection felt a bit limited. I requested breakfast at 8:30, but as I was nearing the end of my meal, the staff began clearing away the dishes little by little. They told me to make sure I didn’t leave anything behind, which didn’t feel very pleasant. Even if there is only one guest, shouldn’t all dishes be available until the end? If breakfast ends early, I think the serving time should be set earlier.

It was a wonderful Hotel with attention to every detail.

I stayed for one night and two days. It was a wonderful Hotel filled with the expertise, ingenuity, and thoughtfulness of Kyoritsu Resort. There are countless highlights to mention, but in addition to the various inclusive services, excellent meals, and well-maintained Onsen: - Attentive service even before check-in time - User-friendly bath layout and thoughtful arrangement of items in the Room (clever design seen throughout) - Spacious bathtubs and impeccably clean private baths (foot mats replaced every time, Onsen water constantly flowing to maintain cleanliness, slatted flooring for comfort) - Cleanliness maintained & warm approach to open-air baths (overflowing Onsen water flows along pathways) I believe these reflect their expertise in Hotel management. I would love to stay again!

    This hotel, located ...

This hotel, located on a hill, offers stunning views. While enjoying the terrace in winter might not be possible, it would surely feel wonderful to relax and gaze outside during other seasons. The room was a standard twin with a sofa and had ample space for two people. The open-air bath provided a lovely view of the Onsen town below, but since it wasn’t free-flowing, adjusting the temperature and filling the tub each time felt slightly inconvenient. Although we didn’t use the large public bath, we were lucky to enjoy our preferred private bath at just the right timing. It was also great that private baths are available 24 hours. Thanks to our late check-out plan, we could leisurely enjoy our stay while most guests had already checked out. At the restaurant, we were seated at a table near the courtyard with waterfalls; however, unlike other tables angled towards the windows for better views, ours was parallel to them. This meant one person faced away from this beautiful scenery and instead saw only other tables or staff moving around inside—quite unfortunate given how lovely the view is (watching constant movement can be dizzying). Adjusting chairs sideways or angling tables towards windows would enhance this experience. As for meals: while roast beef was delicious overall dishes felt average—not particularly impressive nor disappointing either way. What surprised us most about their all-inclusive plan was its last order being called after just 50 minutes! By then main courses hadn’t even arrived yet; when informed "last orders," I requested wine pairing my upcoming dish but still had unfinished drinks left over from earlier courses—staff asked whether finishing quickly before swapping glasses seemed feasible which led rushing through remaining portions hurriedly instead ideally aligning final orders alongside mains timing-wise better suited expectations here too perhaps? Breakfast seating counter-side overlooking windows spared distractions allowing relaxed enjoyment amidst varied buffet offerings neatly portioned avoiding crowd congestion altogether pleasant surprise desserts abundance tempted overeating indulgence though! Having visited Kusatsu many times previously staying overnight marked first occasion experiencing Yubatake light-up event firsthand memorable highlight indeed utilizing shuttle bus one-way return stroll leisurely back proved equally enjoyable addition overall trip satisfaction!

    Thoughtful hospitality is appreciated.

The Onsen, room, and meals were all excellent. This time, we stayed in a loft room inspired by Snow White with my son and his wife, making it four of us. The loft had two separate bedrooms, allowing us to sleep comfortably without worry. The decorations were charming, and the room was very convenient and comfortable. During dinner, although we hadn't mentioned anything specifically, the staff seemed to notice the maternity badge and thoughtfully adjusted things like the meat's cooking style. Our family was deeply moved by this consideration. However, it was disappointing that the unlimited salmon roe from La Vista's breakfast buffet in the past was no longer available. We hope it will make a comeback someday! We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

    Unfortunately.

Shuttle service available from Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station, and in the evening, there is a direct bus from the Hotel to Yubatake. The staff's attentiveness is excellent. When the window in the guest room's Onsen couldn't be opened, they responded immediately. From 3 PM, there is a lounge on the sixth floor offering beer and snacks, and light meals are available at night. The downside was dinner! It was very disappointing. My companion ordered Wagyu beef which was normally tasty; I ordered veal, but it arrived blackened and tough—inedible! We also ordered a cheese platter that came with just one cracker and four tiny dried pieces of cheese! Dessert was a dry apple pie. We ended up going to have light meals instead. Overall, the food lacked flavor and felt dry. Dinner on the second night was average. Breakfast was delicious with a buffet style offering plenty of small dishes to choose from.

    I had a pleasant stay.

I have stayed at several La Vista accommodations in the Kanto region, but this time I chose this hotel to celebrate my husband's birthday. Since the hotel is located on a hill, the view from the open-air bath in our room and the large public bath was spectacular. Additionally, we enjoyed the free private baths, each uniquely designed. The complimentary services such as welcome drinks, late-night ramen noodles, ice cream bars offered by Kyoritsu Resort were delightful. On top of that, they provided free drinks including Premium Malts beer and snacks, which showcased their excellent hospitality. However, I was disappointed with the food—especially dinner presentation and flavor—as well as tableware quality. It felt more like a local Western-style diner rather than a hotel (or even across Kyoritsu Resort Group). The bouillabaisse lacked depth of flavor as if it wasn’t simmered enough; ingredients didn’t absorb much taste and both it and its soup were served lukewarm. While the Joshu Wagyu roast beef was delicious, when a cheese platter arrived later on it was so poorly presented that I couldn’t help but laugh awkwardly. Many hotels use frozen bread or desserts (in this case apple pie), but perhaps due to improper preparation after defrosting—the bread lacked moisture becoming slightly hard over time while apple pie turned soggy—further lowering overall dining quality perception for me.
