    This Hotel is just right.

    I stay here 2–3 times a year. It’s the perfect Hotel for meeting classmates in Kamakura, enjoying great food, and spending a fun time together. The Room is always clean, and the amenities are just the right selection. It’s close to Kamakura Station with a great location, yet it’s quiet. I really like it.

    A consistently high-quality Hotel you can rely on

    [Room & Amenities] I booked the Premium Corner Twin expecting it to be the largest and best Room, as a change from my usual Corner Twin. However, when I heard it would be on the 2nd or 3rd floor, I wondered why there were no options on the 4th or 5th floors. In the end, it did not feel as spacious as I had imagined—I mistakenly thought it would be a larger Room stretching along the road. That said, being a corner Room with large windows made it bright and airy, and it was nice to have a close view of what seemed to be the second torii gate of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. If it had been on a higher floor, I wouldn’t have worried about people’s eyes from outside and could have kept the sheer curtains open; unfortunately, I only opened them when taking photos. It may be that higher floors offer doubles rather than twins. Also, I badly hit the top of one foot on the step up into the raised area; several days after my stay it is still swollen and painful to wear shoes, so if I stay again I will pay closer attention to differences from my usual Room layout. The amenities selection was extensive and very well provided. [Service] There was no special interaction, so nothing particularly memorable—but not feeling uncomfortable at all may actually be the best kind of service. JR Hotels membership may include a one-hour late checkout, but due to my schedule I usually leave 2–3 hours early anyway; personally, benefits like free parking would be more helpful. [Onsen / Bath] By my own standards, this was top-level satisfaction for an Accommodation without a large public bath. The bathroom was spacious enough and the shower was easy to use. [Facility & Equipment] There may be building restrictions in town, but having only five floors for guest Rooms feels slightly limited. Still, everything is always impressively clean—almost like new—and that consistently satisfies me. [Meals] The breakfast buffet is MUJI-affiliated, and at ¥3,000 it wasn’t just reasonable—it offered more than enough variety. This time my favorite was the mixed rice (takikomi gohan). As I’ve mentioned on other travel sites before: because I often need an early checkout schedule-wise, starting breakfast 30 minutes earlier would help greatly. This time as well (again), I ended up arriving a few minutes late for my next engagement. [Satisfaction] This time the Room differed from what I had pictured beforehand and felt slightly less convincing for the price; even so, overall satisfaction remained high. [Overall Rating] No matter what details I write here, overall I am very satisfied.

    Simple Stay

    Stayed in late April and was upgraded to a better Room as a courtesy from the Hotel. They said it was due to the Hotel’s circumstances, but other guests received the same, so they may upgrade you if there are vacancies. I was happy that the amenities included foot-care sheets and warming eye masks. The shower height in the bathroom is adjustable, but the angle is not. The shampoo and conditioner were fine, but not my favorites. Breakfast is at the MUJI restaurant on the first floor. Many guests arrived right at 7:00 when it opened, but it was a downside that some dishes were not yet available. Overall, it was a satisfying Hotel with clean, user-friendly Rooms.

    A lovely space

    The courtyard view from the lobby was wonderful, and it was very relaxing. The Room was clean as well, and I was able to unwind. I would definitely like to stay again.

    We stayed at Hotel M...

    We stayed at Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura for a trip to Kamakura to celebrate my friend’s 60th birthday. As soon as we entered the Hotel, the pleasant fragrance was soothing, and the staff were courteous and attentive at check-in. The Room was spacious and beautifully kept. The next morning, we joined a neighborhood walk guided by a former rickshaw puller, who shared stories about the history of the temples we visited through enjoyable conversation—it was truly a valuable experience. My friend was also very happy that we chose Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura as our Accommodation, and it made for a wonderful trip overall. Thank you very much.

    Trip with my wife

    It was a very clean Hotel close to Kamakura Station, with excellent amenities. It was disappointing that the view from the window wasn’t very good. Kamakura has many places to see, and it made me want to visit again. When I do, I’d like to stay here again.

    I had another comfortable stay this time.

    Whenever I stay in Kamakura, I always choose this Hotel. When it first opened, it must have been a challenging time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the attentive service makes me feel at ease. This time, although the property is still fairly new, it seems the Room had been renovated, and it was clean and comfortable. One of this Hotel’s advantages is that parking is by Reservation, and services such as ice and coffee are conveniently located together on the second floor where the front desk is. Above all, its greatest appeal is its location—close to Kamakura Station and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Depending on the Room, you can also enjoy a wonderful view of a nearby torii gate.

    Excellent location and spotless cleanliness

    I used to feel disappointed that there were hardly any Accommodations around Kamakura Station, but after learning that this Hotel had opened—and being drawn by its very high Review ratings—I made a Reservation. The location is truly outstanding: close to the station and Komachi-dori, with Dankazura right in front of you and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine just a short walk away. The area was crowded with sightseers, yet the Hotel itself felt calm, with interiors in natural tones. The courtyard’s well-kept greenery was beautiful, and when I visited, the rhododendrons were in full bloom. It was also lovely to see maple trees—somewhere you can enjoy each season. The simple, functional Room was also very relaxing. The MUJI Café breakfast buffet was delicious; I enjoyed grilled kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), seasonal takikomi gohan (mixed rice), MUJI curry, and more. When I visit Kamakura again, I would definitely like to stay at this Hotel.

    It’s now easier to use.

    This is my fourth stay, following last year. The Room has been renovated, the steps have been removed, and it’s now more functional, which was great. I was also satisfied to be able to see cherry blossoms from the Room. However, breakfast is always the same, and I’ve started to get a bit tired of it. I felt it would be nice to have some more distinctive options, such as dishes featuring Kamakura vegetables. Still, I’d like to visit again.

    Reliable comfort

    I have stayed here many times. The Room is clean, spacious, and comfortable. At this time of year, the cherry blossoms illuminated at night along Dankazura right in front are stunning, and I also love being able to step out of the Hotel and enjoy them immediately.

    I stayed here on my previous trip to Kamakura and chose it again this time because of the great location. Kamakura Station and Komachi-dori Street, as well as convenience stores, supermarkets, drugstores, and MUJI, are all within a 3-minute walk, which is very convenient. It’s also easy to visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine early in the morning, making it an ideal location for sightseeing. This time I stayed in a Room with a view of the approach to the shrine and enjoyed the scenery, but I was slightly bothered by the sound of cars (motorbikes?) late at night. If I have another chance to visit Kamakura, I would definitely like to stay here again.

    Comfortable after all

    I came to see the cherry blossoms. It was a little early, but it’s a real plus that you can casually stroll along Dankazura in the morning when it’s less crowded. It’s also convenient that you can head out without stopping by the front desk thanks to the card key. I was able to relax in the corner Room on the 5th floor with a great view, which I’d been hoping for. The front desk service was as pleasant as ever. Everyone’s smiles really brighten the whole trip. One suggestion: since restaurant hours are fixed and there is no room service, I would like a microwave in the Room.

    My Daughter’s Birthday

    The location was perfect, and the Hotel smelled wonderful as soon as we walked in. Everything about the Room was great—the interior, the view, the bath, and the sink area. Our annual tradition of celebrating our daughter’s birthday turned into an amazing celebration again this year. However, at breakfast there were times when some items were unavailable, and clearing up couldn’t keep up, so it felt hectic and we couldn’t enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. It was disappointing because it took away from how good the food was. I also thought it might help if guests could return their finished trays to a counter or stand themselves. Still, the Hotel was excellent overall, and I’d like to stay again when I visit Kamakura.

    Thank you for your continued support. No matter when I visit, the front desk staff are always pleasant, and the Room is kept clean and well maintained, making for a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much. This time, I was happy to see that the Room hair dryer had been changed to a ReFa model. There is an excellent coffee machine in the lobby, but I would be very pleased if there were also a capsule-type coffee machine (such as UCC or Nescafé) in the Room. I would appreciate it if you could consider this.

    I stayed here for th...

    I stayed here for the first time on a trip to Kamakura with friends. The Hotel was clean and smelled wonderful. All the front desk staff were kind and helpful. The Room was also very clean. I chose this Hotel because the bath and toilet are separate, and it was absolutely the right choice. After a long day of walking, I relaxed in the bath with bath salts. The bed was very comfortable as well. They also stored my luggage after check-out, so I could take my time sightseeing. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    My Favorite Hotel

    This is my favorite Hotel, and I always stay here when visiting Shonan and Kamakura. It’s close to Kamakura Station, right in front of the second torii gate of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. There’s a MUJI on the first floor, and a convenience store next door—an excellent location. The moment you step into the Hotel, it’s surprisingly quiet compared to the bustle of Wakamiya Oji, and the pleasant aroma is very relaxing. I’d love to stay here again!

    Perfect for exploring Kamakura

    The Hotel Room was clean and well maintained. The loaner ReFa hair iron was also very helpful. The location was excellent. On the first day, we parked in the reserved underground parking and visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Komachi-dori Street. Since the station is close, we also took the train to Enoshima and visited the Kamakura Great Buddha and Hasedera Temple. On the second day, we checked out in the afternoon and drove to sightsee around Enoshima. Breakfast at MUJI cafe was delicious—especially the salad, Japanese side dishes, and miso soup—and we were very satisfied. Our child felt there weren’t enough side dishes or dessert options. One request: since the coffee service near the front desk had set hours, it would be nice if it were available anytime during the day. Also, there was a fragrance on both the first floor and the front desk floor that felt a bit strong for me. I know scent preferences vary, so this can be difficult. We had a very comfortable stay.     The front desk is the face of the Hotel—wonderful.

    This was my second stay. When I arrived at the front desk, there were enough staff so guests didn’t have to wait, and the roles seemed clearly divided—those handling check-in and those assisting—so everything moved along smoothly. With IKYU Diamond, I received some perks and felt like I got a little extra value (amenities, beer, snacks, and a 1-hour late check-out). However, perhaps because I mentioned I was here for work, my Room faced the back with a view of the parking lot. It wasn’t an “assigned by Hotel” Plan, so that was disappointing. In the Room, the step-up area under the window had been removed—maybe that was part of the renovation. Even though renovations were underway, I didn’t hear any noise and it didn’t bother me. However, there was lint on the carpet in the Room, and in the bathroom there was lint and hair left behind—unfortunately disappointing. The humidifier was also quite loud. The service from the staff was excellent overall, which made these issues even more regrettable. Still, it’s a Hotel I’d like to visit again to see the staff’s smiles.

    A Long-Awaited Relaxing Getaway

    On my first stay in Kamakura, I spent one night at the Metropolitan Hotel Kamakura, which I had been interested in for some time. The Hotel was calm, clean, and bright, with a pleasant atmosphere throughout. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I was able to relax. Thanks to that, it turned into a very satisfying trip. I would love to stay here again next time.

    Just steps from Kamakura Station! Extremely convenient!! Enjoy a relaxing stay in a clean and comfortable Room. The breakfast offers a wide variety, including delicious local ingredients. The large public bath and sauna are available at an affiliated Facility. It would be even better if they were within the premises... hoping for this in the next renovation. The staff's service was very courteous, making the overall experience top-notch!!

    Best Inn for Exploring Kamakura

    I stayed here to enjoy two days in winter Kamakura. The room's spaciousness, cleanliness, and well-equipped amenities were impressive and comparable to high-grade hotels. It was a stay for our wedding anniversary and retirement celebration trip, and my wife was very satisfied—it turned out to be a wonderful gesture of gratitude. I highly recommend the morning Kamakura stroll guided by the rickshaw driver to anyone planning to stay here.

The room cleaning was impeccable, allowing for a very pleasant stay.     This is a Hotel I would like to stay at again.

    This is my fourth stay here, and I have decided that this hotel will always be my accommodation in Kamakura. This time, I stayed in the Superior Twin Room again. Sunlight streams through the large windows along the main street, offering a view of Kamakura's townscape, and the sofa by the window provides a perfect spot to relax. I also love the simple yet sophisticated interior design. The hotel staff are always pleasant, and I look forward to staying here again next time. Thank you in advance for your hospitality. P.S.: I really liked the "raised seating area" by the window in the room, so it's a bit disappointing that it will be removed during future renovations. However, prioritizing accessibility with barrier-free designs is an understandable choice!

    A Hotel where the only word that comes to mind is comfort.

    Now in its 6th year since opening in 2020, Metropolitan Kamakura Hotel offers a unique charm. While there are many historic hotels, this one is my absolute favorite. Located on the approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, it boasts an unparalleled location yet provides a serene and calming atmosphere as soon as you step inside. The front desk staff's composed demeanor and gentle words alone make it worth visiting. The Room design is simple with white tones and wood accents, creating the perfect environment for relaxation. With no on-site restaurant or banquet hall, the hotel ensures a truly quiet stay. Breakfast is served at the renowned Cafe&Meal MUJI. In an open space with high exposed ceilings, guests can enjoy buffet-style dishes made with local ingredients. Personally, I find their salad, MUJI curry rice, yogurt, coffee, and juice more than satisfying (laughs). I may not be an ideal guest for such a wonderful Hotel and feel apologetic about that. But I hope to visit again soon. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Kamakura Tour

    We stayed as a family of four (4 years old and 2 years old). Although our original check-in time was scheduled for 3:00 PM, due to strong winds and fatigue, we arrived a bit earlier. The room was already prepared, and we were kindly allowed to check in early. The bath amenities had a lovely fragrance. I couldn't figure out what brand the body soap or shampoo was, but if anyone knows, please let me know! Breakfast at MUJI was excellent. If you're staying here, I highly recommend including breakfast in your plan. The location is perfect for exploring Komachi Street and visiting temples. We enjoyed scenic views while riding the Enoden train and followed our plans to visit the aquarium and nearby select shops without any issues—both adults and children were thoroughly satisfied! In fact, my child said they didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay. I also had an amazing experience overall. Thank you very much!

    Couple's Kamakura Trip

    We stayed for two nights as a couple. The location is excellent, just a 2-minute walk from the station! The Room and meals were very satisfying, and the service was exceptional. We will definitely stay again.

    Wonderful Hotel

    I stayed with my two children, making a total of three people. The accommodation was conveniently located near the station and close to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Komachi Street, which were part of our plans. The room, hotel entrance, lobby, and decorations throughout were lovely. We all had a very satisfying one-night, two-day stay. I would definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance.
