I was looking forward to enjoying the open-air bath in winter, so it left me with a disappointing impression.

This was my first stay since the Accommodation changed its name. I had expected the entire building to have been renovated, but it didn’t seem to have changed much. Although the balcony is spacious and appealing, I was concerned about being seen from guest rooms on the upper floors, and I felt that additional measures such as screens or partitions would be helpful. Also, the temperature of the open-air bath on the balcony was low. Even though I requested adjustments several times, it remained lukewarm until the end and I couldn’t warm up properly. Since I had been looking forward to enjoying an open-air bath in winter, this left a disappointing impression. In addition, having the washing area outdoors is tough on cold days; it was windy that day as well, and washing outside was quite difficult. It’s not easy to use comfortably in winter or on cold days. Dinner was more than we could finish; however, the sashimi and sirloin were delicious. As for service, although our young attendant still seemed inexperienced, they did their best to assist us, which was appreciated. We could clearly feel the Ryokan’s appeal through the scenery and hospitality, but there were also several disappointing points for winter stays—such as privacy concerns on the balcony, temperature control of the open-air bath, and the outdoor washing area. Especially for guests whose goal is to enjoy an open-air bath during colder seasons, improvements in these areas would likely lead to higher satisfaction.
