    It was a wonderful time!

I stayed here to celebrate my mother's birthday. From the warm welcome with everyone's lovely smiles, I felt truly at ease. The Room was absolutely amazing! It was impeccably clean, and the private open-air bath in the guest room seemed to have an automatic circulation system, keeping it very hygienic. Since the location is in the mountains, there were some insects, but insect repellents were provided, so I had no issues and enjoyed a comfortable stay! The meals were exceptionally delicious. The dishes and flower garnishes used for presentation added a visual delight that showed great attention to detail. At night, when I went to retrieve something from my car, a gentleman kindly spoke with me. His thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on me. The conversation was delightful—thank you so much! The mandarin orange juice we received as a farewell gift was absolutely fantastic. I will definitely come back again! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

    Welcome Baby Certified Accommodation

I usually go on trips about four times a year for two nights and three days. In the past, I often stayed at high-class accommodations, but since my child was born last year, I wanted to stay at a ryokan where children can also enjoy themselves. Before staying at this accommodation, we stayed at another place we frequently visited before having our child. However, the lack of attention and inadequate services due to having a child made us feel quite uncomfortable. In contrast, the warm hospitality here truly made me realize why it is certified as a "Welcome Baby" accommodation. During meals, even when our baby cried, the staff kindly called their name and comforted them without showing any displeasure. There were also thoughtful touches like a room with books that children would enjoy. I felt this was an accommodation where even parents with 1-year-olds could stay with peace of mind. When stepping out onto the balcony with an open-air bath attached to our room, we were surrounded by nature and completely separated from the hustle and bustle of city life—it was truly relaxing. If I had to point out one downside about the room: when opening a small cabinet next to the TV, there seemed to be some scattered debris or possibly insect remains—it wasn’t clear what it was—which was disappointing. Other than that minor issue, there weren’t really any unpleasant points during our stay. Even though I'm not fond of insects in general, there were fewer than expected and well within my tolerance level. I’d love to spend more time on the balcony during winter! This is definitely an accommodation I'd like to visit again!

    Highly satisfied!

This was our second stay. We stayed as a family with two small children, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful consideration for families with kids, which made our stay very comfortable. The atmosphere of the room and the bath were also wonderful.

Surrounded by lush greenery, the chirping of birds and the soothing sound of rain provide a relaxing experience for all your senses.

We arrived early due to the rainy weather, but we were greeted with an umbrella and guided to the lobby, which was very helpful. The greenery of the trees visible from the lobby was vibrant and delightful. The flowers on display were beautiful, showcasing the accommodation's sense of style. The room had a calm and refined Japanese-modern design without excessive decoration, which we loved. From the room, we could see trees painted in deep green hues; despite the rain, the sound of raindrops was soothing. Enjoying Kanagawa's local sake and a delicious dinner left us slightly full but allowed for a good night's sleep. In the morning, while soaking in the open-air bath, I could hear birds chirping—both my body and mind felt rejuvenated. The open-air bath attached to our room had an extendable roof cover that kept us dry even in rain—truly impressive! Thanks to this feature, we soaked in Onsen multiple times at leisure; it left our skin feeling smooth and refreshed. However, during dinner when wasabi rice was served, I thought it would pair well with bonito flakes (katsuobushi). After finishing my meal and asking about it later on—I found out they did have some available! I regretted not asking earlier.

I had a relaxing and enjoyable time.

We chose this accommodation for the first night of our 3-night trip during a long vacation. It was raining all day on the day of our stay, and although we checked in a bit earlier than scheduled, the staff welcomed us warmly. Regarding customer service, while some staff seemed inexperienced, their earnest efforts were heartwarming and left a positive impression. The room and its onsen were impeccably clean and well-maintained. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. By the end of dinner, I was so full that I worried about eating dessert; however, before I could ask, a staff member kindly offered to bring it to my room. Thanks to their thoughtfulness, I enjoyed dessert leisurely in my room. From check-in to check-out, we indulged in the onsen in our room multiple times and had a truly relaxing time. It’s unfortunate that this accommodation is far from home as we would love to visit more often! While everything deserves a perfect score of 5 stars, I rated the facility 4 stars because there were only stairs leading to our room. To all the wonderful staff who took care of us during this stay—thank you for your exceptional hospitality! We look forward to staying with you again next time!

This is an accommodation we would love to visit again.

The bath, meals, room, and staff were all exceptional. The open-air bath in the room offered a stunning view of cherry blossoms and fresh green maple leaves, with the soothing sound of warblers in the morning. Both dinner and breakfast were not only visually appealing but also showcased the high level of skill and delicacy in Japanese cuisine, complemented by exquisite tableware that left us deeply impressed. The room was spacious with large windows that let in plenty of light; its open layout without partitions felt very liberating. The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary items such as premium beer, oolong tea, mandarin orange jelly, and water. Although there was a slight chlorine smell in the large public bath area, its wide windows provided a great sense of openness. At the post-bath lounge area, we enjoyed ice cream, small beers, Yakult drinks, and fruit milk—though my wife mentioned it would have been even better if coffee milk had been available. One minor concern was the security camera above this lounge area; while understandable given current times, it did create a slight feeling of being watched. Overall though, this is an outstanding accommodation offering high satisfaction levels. While we may not be able to visit frequently due to cost considerations (unspecified here), we will definitely return again someday! Thank you for your hospitality!

    Highly satisfied

We stayed here while my wife was pregnant. We are very grateful for the thoughtful consideration given to meals and drinks. It became a wonderful memory before the birth of our child. Thank you very much. We reserved the shuttle service in advance, and they picked us up at the rotary of Yugawara Station. Both dinner and breakfast were served in our room. Dinner included a wide variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. Our room had a shower and an open-air bath, so we were fully satisfied without needing to use the public bathhouse. Breakfast also offered many dishes and was very satisfying.

Everything was absolutely satisfying!! The meals were exquisite with attention to detail, and everything was delicious, especially the sashimi. I would definitely love to stay here again!

    It was warm hospitality.

The staff provided very polite and warm hospitality. The public bath was compact with only an indoor bath, but it was always available, and I appreciated the ice cream and juice offered in the relaxation area after bathing! Dinner was not particularly impressive—neither good nor bad. Breakfast had a variety of side dishes for rice, allowing me to enjoy small portions of many items, which was satisfying! However, the dining area is not partitioned, so I found it a bit hard to relax due to hearing other guests' conversations. Considering the accommodation price, semi-private spaces would be preferable. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay with plenty of amenities in the guest room and complimentary items in the fridge. The lounge services like coffee, tea, and ice pops were delightful as well. The staff's hospitality made for a comfortable experience overall.

    I felt very relaxed.

The open-air bath in the Room and the chairs on the balcony were very relaxing. However, there were a few hairs from previous guests in the Room, and I was slightly concerned about the cleanliness. The food was delicious, but having partitions between tables would have made dining more comfortable.

    The accommodation at...

The accommodation at Ashikari offers a sense of cleanliness and openness, with charming flower decorations placed thoughtfully throughout the facility. The large public bath provides a variety of drinks and ice cream options. The onsen has a lower temperature, and it was difficult to make it hotter with the push-style water control, but this allowed for a longer and more relaxing soak. Amenities were sufficient, and the yukata patterns were to my liking. For meals, being able to choose from breakfast menu options was appreciated, and the white rice was delicious. The staff were kind and attentive, making it a pleasant stay at this accommodation.

    Exceptional Hospitality

We stayed at the accommodation as a three-generation family to celebrate my mother's birthday. With two infants, we were initially worried, but the staff were very kind to the children. The amenities and public bath even had baby baths, and we could borrow picture books at the front desk, making it very baby-friendly and much appreciated! The showerhead in the public bath was from ReFa, which I had always wanted to try, so I was delighted. The additional birthday cake was also incredibly delicious and surprising. We would love to visit again!

It was a wonderful accommodation where you can relax comfortably.

This was my fourth visit and the second since the renovation. The food is always incredibly delicious. This time, I enjoyed a meal in the room, allowing me to relax and savor it without any worries. The variety of sake was abundant, which made me very satisfied. The hospitality was excellent, making my stay very pleasant. At this nature-rich accommodation, I could enjoy an extraordinary experience of soaking in onsen while listening to birdsong. I hope to visit again during the autumn foliage or cherry blossom season.

    I felt completely refreshed.

Stayed in the Yakumo Room. The staff member in charge of the room was a foreigner, but it was clear they were diligently studying both Japanese and hospitality. Their sincere smile and service left a very positive impression. The amenities and facilities were excellent, especially the bath with its stunning view of the lush natural forest next door. The Manyo Garden was also wonderful, providing a truly refreshing experience. However, dust was noticeable in several areas, indicating that cleaning could be improved.

    Highly satisfying

Stayed for my wife's birthday. The room was "Izayoi." The high ceiling and exposed beams added a wonderful charm. The glass windows emphasized the sense of openness, which was very pleasant. The open-air bath attached to the room had a perfect temperature, allowing us to stretch our legs and relax comfortably. The large public bath was slightly hotter. Each dish in the meal was carefully prepared with just the right seasoning, allowing us to enjoy seasonal flavors fully. While Atami and Hakone are known as onsen towns with plenty of sightseeing opportunities, Yugawara offers fewer attractions but makes up for it with well-equipped onsen accommodations like this one, where you can enjoy a long and relaxing stay. The staff were charming and attentive, making our stay very comfortable. One note: Perhaps due to the season, there were many bugs like stink bugs attracted to lights at night, which surprised us a bit. However, it was reassuring that the accommodation provided insect repellent sprays as part of their measures against this issue. They also mentioned efforts such as tree trimming and pesticide spraying by professionals to address this problem. Turning off lights when not in use can help prevent bugs from gathering; if guests are mindful of such actions during their stay, everyone can have an even more pleasant experience here!

The open-air bath's sense of freedom

I stayed in a detached Room called "Kokonoe." The Room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with amenities, offering a luxurious experience. The private open-air bath in the Room was particularly amazing. Located on a spacious balcony, the open-air bath features natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. The water was soft and soothing, and above all, the view from the balcony was breathtakingly open with a panoramic view of the mountains. The meals were also incredibly delicious, making it an unforgettable one-night stay. Thank you very much!

We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room had a beautiful natural Japanese-modern style, with high ceilings that provided a sense of openness and bright natural light streaming in, allowing us to relax comfortably. We brought our 1-year-old child, and the ryokan staff warmly welcomed us with smiles. They also provided thoughtful amenities such as kids' meals, safe and cute children's slippers, and picture books available for borrowing freely. These details were very helpful. Thanks to this, our child was entertained and had a great time, making it a very satisfying stay for all of us.

    We stayed at the acc...

We stayed at the accommodation for our 5-month-old baby's first trip. The room layout was spacious, the facilities were well-equipped, and baby items were provided, allowing us to have a very comfortable stay. Additionally, we chose a plan with in-room dining for both breakfast and dinner. The staff who served us adapted flexibly to our infant's needs, providing excellent service. This made our trip truly wonderful—thank you so much! However, because everything else was so great, some minor details stood out: - The chair outside the bathroom was broken (it disrupted the overall atmosphere; repairing or removing it might be better). - Some small flaws in the outdoor bath area were noticeable (likely due to renovations of an older building; there were a few patched-up areas that caught my attention). I understand that maintaining high quality across such a large facility is challenging. However, considering the price paid for an escape from reality, improving these aspects would enhance the experience even more. Lastly—and this may be due to my own expectations—when checking in, I was asked about my child's name and our wedding anniversary (which had been one week prior), but nothing came of it afterward. It felt slightly disappointing as I had expected something after being asked those questions (perhaps it's better not to ask if there's no follow-up). Despite these points, we had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again! We look forward to seeing further improvements in quality at this accommodation!

The bath, room, meals, and service were all wonderful at this accommodation! We had a 6-month-old baby with us, and the warm hospitality of the staff was truly appreciated. If I had to mention one thing, the corners of the table legs were not rounded, and there was a moment when our child almost bumped their head. Adding corner guards to furniture would make it even safer. We had a lovely time as a family. Thank you very much!

    Relax with your family

We chose a separate accommodation to relax after our child became an adult. The room's open-air bath was wonderful, and the stars were beautiful. The meals were very satisfying, allowing us to feel the seasons. We would love to visit again in a different season. The service was subtle yet excellent. Since it was an adults-only stay, it was calm and peaceful, which we appreciated.

It was an accommodation full of hospitality.

Although we arrived during a severe storm, we were smoothly welcomed without getting wet. Since our Room was in a separate building, we walked along the stone-paved path to the dining area. However, the distance was short and there was a covered outdoor corridor, so we didn’t get soaked. We stayed in the Room called "Tomose," which had an open-air bath with ample space and great water quality—truly satisfying. Despite the rain, there was a remote-controlled shade over the bath that allowed us to avoid getting wet. The next day brought clear skies without a single cloud, and even then, the shade provided perfect sun protection. For meals, we chose a small portion Plan but still felt fully satisfied by the end of it. The elegant and delicious dishes paired wonderfully with drinks. All staff members were courteous and attentive in their service, making our stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing—we would love to visit again!

    I have become a fan of Ashikari-san.

After completing the reservation, we received a call with shuttle service details. During the shuttle ride, we were pleasantly surprised by a mini sightseeing detour. The ryokan exudes traditional charm, with well-thought-out interiors featuring high ceilings and impressive wooden beams. The room design is excellent, offering a sense of openness with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The bathroom includes two sinks (a delightful touch), a bright shower booth with glass windows, and an overall airy atmosphere. The private open-air bath attached to the room offers stunning views of distant mountains and lush greenery—a truly exceptional experience. The amenities are high-quality, and complimentary drinks were much appreciated. Meals were exquisite and perfectly suited to the reputation of this kaiseki-style ryokan. Above all, the staff's thoughtful hospitality was outstanding, making this accommodation one we would love to revisit.

Today, I stayed in the Katsuragi Room. This is my second time using this Ryokan, and everything—service, room, Onsen, and cuisine—is absolutely exceptional. Staying with my 5-year-old son.

This was our first stay, and I visited with my 5-year-old son. In general, at Onsen Ryokans, I tend to worry about my child’s loud voice disturbing other guests. However, the soundproofing between rooms here was excellent, and our room even had a private open-air bath. This allowed us to relax without being overly concerned. The service and meals were also thoughtfully tailored for children, and my 5-year-old son seemed very satisfied. We would love to stay here again when we visit Yugawara.
