The level of the Club Building is...

I stay in the Club Wing for four nights once a year. This was about my fourth stay. Perhaps due to cost-cutting, this stay was different from previous ones, and I was simply disappointed and surprised. First, the airport taxi Reservation I requested by email had not been arranged, and there was no explanation at all. They prioritized check-in and told me afternoon tea hours were already over. (In the end, I did receive it.) There were no amenities such as toner. It was difficult to get through to Instant Service. Although lounge access (which we pay a child rate for) was the same as always, the restaurant offerings were questionable. I want the Club Wing to remain exceptional. That is what motivates me to work hard all year, and why I could justify paying a higher room rate. Until now, I had been amazed by the depth of service and felt there truly was a place like heaven. It does not need to evolve—please at least restore it to how it used to be.

    Everything is spacious.

We used to visit Ishigaki when our children were little, but this was our first time back in a long while. This time, at our now-grown children’s request, we booked two Rooms in the Bay Wing. Perhaps because we stayed in September, the building was quiet and the pool was not crowded. I was surprised at breakfast to see how many guests were actually staying there. The breakfast restaurant had large tables and generous spacing between them, so we could relax comfortably. It felt much more spacious than the older wing, and the lawn garden is expansive—truly a wonderful Hotel. Our whole family was very satisfied. A few requests: The glass-walled bathroom is beautiful, but even for parents and children it can feel awkward if you’re different genders. Because you have to close the doors around the vanity area for privacy, no one can use either the toilet or sink while someone is bathing. A curtain on the outside of the bath would be appreciated (though it might not suit the design). Since we swim in the sea or pool every day, we wanted to do laundry, but there are too few washing machines. Also, Room cleaning is late. We go out during the day and come back around 4:00 p.m., hoping to shower and relax before dinner, but that’s often when cleaning starts. The staff work hard, so I assume this is due to understaffing—I felt this strongly at check-out as well. Around 11:00 a.m., when many guests are checking out, there was only one person at reception. There was no guidance on where to wait, so the line became chaotic—people who arrived later cut in front of those who had been waiting on sofas. At minimum, there should be two staff members at reception around 11:00 a.m. Regarding amenities: they are in white bottles with small black text (shampoo/body lotion), which makes them hard to identify at a glance. I understand matching white bottles may suit the Room design better, but using different bottle colors would improve visibility and be more user-friendly. Finally: we understood when making our Reservation that facilities such as pools differ between Ocean Wing (older wing) and Bay Wing; however, I wonder whether first-time guests can easily grasp this distinction. When you open a typical Reservation site page, Rooms from both wings appear side by side as similar options. I worry some people may arrive thinking “Oh—is that how it works?” There’s no doubt this is an excellent Hotel.

    Compared to before

    1) The lounge operates on a reservation-only, two-session system, so it doesn’t feel like a lounge and feels rushed—more like lining up for a restaurant. I’d like it to be a space where guests can relax anytime (even if that means raising the price, etc.). 2) It’s difficult if amenities such as toner that were previously provided are no longer available. I pack assuming they will be there.

    It’s been a while.

I don’t want to be too harsh, but it was honestly terrible. The Room felt more like an apartment. The photos are misleading, and I found it pretty disappointing. It smelled musty, and you have to step outside from the lobby and suddenly walk through a very hot area—it was exhausting. The location offers nothing but a view of people walking by, which is almost laughable. The Japanese breakfast was the only decent part. It felt the same at Manza as well. This kind of thing seems to happen quite often when making a Reservation through IKYU. I can’t recommend ANA Hotel—please be careful. It might be fine if your children are still very young.

    We’re sorry to hear that.

We stayed for four nights as three adults: a couple and our college-aged daughter. 1. Guest Room: -1 point We stayed in a family room with bunk beds, but we ended up not using them. It may be good for families with small children, but on the third night there was loud stomping from the floor above, and we could easily imagine children jumping off the bunk bed. We contacted the front desk and it quieted down, but it was disappointing. 2. Breakfast: -1 point You can choose between Japanese-style and Western-style breakfast restaurants. Day 1: Japanese-style, waited 30 minutes. Day 2: Western-style, waited 20 minutes. Day 3: Western-style, no wait. Day 4: Western-style, waited 10 minutes. They should provide services such as informing guests of expected wait times in advance—disappointing. 3. Dinner: -1 point There seem to be Western, Japanese, Chinese, and teppanyaki options, but the Chinese restaurant was not operating and teppanyaki was fully booked. That left either a Western buffet or Japanese food—clearly overcrowded for the number of guests. In the end we did not eat at the Hotel and went into town instead. On Ishigaki Island overall (not just this Hotel), it seems there are more guests than restaurants; even when calling ahead you are often turned away. 4. Location: -1 point From the airport it’s about a 20-minute taxi ride costing around JPY 2,500. To downtown it’s about a 15-minute taxi ride costing around JPY 1,500. Many Resort Hotels offer Shuttle Service between the Hotel and downtown; I think this Hotel could do something similar. 5. Facility: -1 point The Hotel pool is child-oriented at about 1 meter deep—best for families with small children. The sea in front of the Hotel is also calm and suitable for kids. We tried snorkeling but didn’t see any fish there. In the end we went to Yonehara Beach instead—the water was beautiful and there were plenty of fish—but it was disappointing to see litter scattered along the path from the parking lot to the beach area."""

    Club Lounge Access Package

Although the forecast showed rain, we were blessed with wonderful weather and were able to relax. Perhaps because it was the end of summer vacation, there were fewer guests, and the pool and beach were very comfortable. The ocean view from the 8th floor was fantastic. The lounge was quiet during cocktail time since it was separated from families, but afternoon tea and breakfast were crowded—more like a family restaurant—which was disappointing. It seemed there were many guests with children under three. One more thing: the pool is fully visible from the check-in area, so I would appreciate some landscaping or plants for privacy. I wanted to use the pool but hesitated because it felt like other guests could see us. Throughout our stay, the staff were pleasant and helpful, and we had a comfortable three days. I would like to return again.

    The breakfast was delicious.

I had high expectations because I’d heard great reviews about the Bay Wing breakfast, and each dish was truly delicious. Many of the staff were from overseas, and they seemed unfamiliar with the work at times—I often heard “I’ll check,” and their handling of luggage felt a bit awkward. The Room had a nice view, but the shower water pressure was weak. For the same price, I preferred Fusaki.

All staff greeted us with smiles and provided excellent service, making our holiday very enjoyable. At the Club building pool, prohibited activities such as children diving in and using inflatable rings were noticeable. It didn’t feel like a pool where you can relax quietly. I think it would be better to limit use to guests aged 13 and over.

    A reliable, high-end Hotel

We stayed here for a family trip during summer vacation. Due to the typhoon, we couldn’t use the outdoor Facilities, but we still had plenty of fun indoors. In the end, it really is a reliable, consistently excellent Hotel. Every service offered is of a high standard. It felt like there was nothing at all to criticize. I think our satisfaction would have been even higher if the weather had allowed us to use the outdoor Facilities... Personally, dinner at the Japanese restaurant Yaeyama left a strong impression on me, and if we visit again, I’d like to dine there again. The food and service were both extremely satisfying. Thank you very much.

Staying in the Club Building is not recommended for families with children.

First, the guest room felt quite small for a family stay. The extra bed in particular was very basic, and given the Hotel’s price range, I expected something more substantial. As others have noted in their Reviews, the explanation about the club lounge is extremely unhelpful. For first-time users, it is hard to understand what is included and what services are available at which times. We stayed for two nights, but our water was not replenished during room cleaning. When I requested bottled water at night, a staff member told me that it is not provided after 10:00 p.m. If such a rule exists, it should be clearly communicated to guests at check-in or in the room. If they enforce strict rules even for water service hours, they should be even more thorough with advance explanations. Regarding the club lounge: breakfast was delicious and we were satisfied with that. On the other hand, afternoon tea did not feel particularly special, so I would recommend not setting expectations too high just because you book a Plan with club lounge access. What concerned me most this time was billing. At checkout, my wife paid charges that should not have applied to our 3-year-old child, including resort fees and club lounge fees. I only noticed because multiple Reviews from other guests mentioned similar billing issues. This made me wonder whether it was not just a one-time mistake but intentional overcharging by the Hotel. At minimum, families traveling with small children should check each line item on their bill carefully at checkout. They expect guests to follow detailed rules such as “no bottled water after 10:00 p.m.” and staff make snide remarks along the way—yet they casually charge fees that should not apply. I found this level of service very disappointing. I stayed expecting an Ishigaki Island Resort Hotel experience, but my dissatisfaction came less from the Facility itself and more from basic issues such as poor explanations, service response, and billing accuracy. There were some positives such as breakfast in the club lounge; however, considering this price range of Hotel overall, I personally would not choose to return.

    Thank you for your support.

Thank you very much for your help. I had checked the Reviews in advance and had some concerns about the service, but after actually staying there, those worries proved unfounded. I’m a light user who stays at a Hotel only a few days a year, but I was satisfied with everything.

    Encounter Sea Turtles

A three-generation adults-only trip with my mother and son. We stayed for 4 nights in the Club Wing Private Garden. The space was beautiful, spacious, and truly relaxing. Breakfast was served at the club-exclusive venue, where you can order dishes as well as enjoy the buffet. Around 7:00 a.m. it was quiet and we could enjoy a peaceful morning, but once around 8:00 a.m., there were many families with children due to the season, it got quite noisy, and the buffet food was a bit messy—which was a little disappointing. That’s not really the Hotel’s fault, though. It would have been perfect if seating could be arranged to separate areas. The Agu pork sausages, daily-changing dressings, and cheeses were delicious. We also used afternoon tea and the night bar once each—both felt like special experiences. The night pool was also wonderful. It was easy to get to from our Room, and the Private Garden Room option was excellent. We borrowed goggles and fins at the beach. I wasn’t expecting much—maybe just a few tropical fish—but there were lots of clownfish and colorful fish. We even encountered a sea turtle and got to swim together. It became an unforgettable memory. It was my first time in Ishigaki Island, and we were blessed with great weather—it turned into an amazing trip. It’s a great Hotel, and all of the staff were friendly with warm smiles, which made us feel very comfortable. We will definitely come again. Thank you very much.

    We made wonderful, h...

We made wonderful, happy memories at this Hotel. Even though it was the busy Obon season, we didn’t have to wait long, and the front desk staff were quick and courteous. Their explanations were clear and easy to understand, even for first-time guests like us. Since we had no guarantee of an ocean view, we weren’t expecting much—but the view from the large window was outstanding, with a beautiful ocean panorama. There was nothing blocking the view right in front of us, and our children were thrilled. We also joined a snorkeling activity we had reserved in advance, and never imagined we would get to see sea turtles—our children were overjoyed. The guide carefully watched our child’s pace and adjusted everything to suit us. The conversation was fun throughout, making it a truly special memory. The photos they took for us were also wonderful, and we keep looking back at them fondly. During our stay, we accidentally soiled the bed. When we contacted the front desk, housekeeping came right away. They responded with a smile without showing any displeasure, which really put us at ease. Just one thing: while we were in the Room, housekeeping came in and handled everything very politely; however, they left without letting us know they had finished. It bothered me that they seemed to slip out unnoticed. I felt a little disappointed because if they had told us they were done at the end, I could have thanked them directly. On the final night came the fireworks display we had been looking forward to. Because heavy rain fell just beforehand, when we asked at the front desk whether it would go ahead, we were told it would most likely be canceled. Still half expecting it not to happen as 9:00 p.m. approached—the fireworks went up. It was our family’s first time watching fireworks together like that, and it truly moved us. We watched from our Room; with nothing obstructing the view from the window, we could see them beautifully. Despite the rain just before start time, thank you to everyone who prepared for it until then—and for making the decision to hold it. Everything about this stay exceeded our expectations. Each day when we went out sightseeing or activities around town (and beyond), coming back to this Hotel was something else I looked forward to as well! Even during such a busy summer holiday period with so many guests every day (and beyond), you showed thoughtful attention down (and beyond) even small details! Thanks all of you! We truly enjoyed an unforgettable trip! We would love (and beyond) stay again!

    I used the Club Wing...

I used the Club Wing, but was the staff short-handed and mostly inexperienced? Whenever I called, it took a long time for anyone to answer. When I asked for a taxi, they only made the Reservation at the requested time, causing significant inconvenience to the taxi company. I asked them to open a pool umbrella, and was told they would inform the manager next door, but nothing happened even after more than 30 minutes. When I looked at the neighboring pool, several umbrellas were already open. I went back to the front desk to ask again and was told again that they would pass it on—then I was left waiting for another 30+ minutes. When I asked yet again what was happening, I was told that umbrellas would be opened from 12:00. It was just after 11:00, so I moved to the neighboring pool. The service at the Club Wing pool was terrible. I thought it was excellent on my first day and made a Reservation for next March, but now I am considering another Hotel.

    We had a wonderful time.

With the addition of new Facilities, the Room, surroundings, and hospitality were excellent. The food was also delicious, and I would like to stay again. However, one small concern was that there did not seem to be enough staff at checkout time, so moving our luggage from the Room and checking out did not go smoothly (in the end, we came back in the afternoon to check out). Perhaps due to an increase in international guests, it felt like there were slightly too few front desk staff. On club floors and similar categories, it would be helpful if quick billing could be handled in the Room.

    I like it.

Some Reviews mention having to wait, but even though we visited on a Sunday during summer vacation, we didn’t have to wait much at all, and the staff were kind and attentive. The kids being a bit noisy was only for a short time and didn’t bother us. The amenities are used by men as well, so the scent felt slightly more masculine. Given current trends, it may be better to bring your own skincare and cosmetics.

    Family Trip

We stayed here last year and had a great experience, so we chose to stay again this time. However, during the busy season, it felt like the staff were overwhelmed and unable to keep up. For our group and others as well, there were times when drinks ordered poolside never arrived, and the staff seemed to be having a tough time. (Last time there was a drinks refrigerator on the poolside, so it was convenient to grab water right away, but this time it wasn’t there—I wondered if there had been some issue.) Next time, we will avoid peak season and stay at a more relaxed time.

Overall, it was disappointing. First, check-in. I was told I would be contacted once the Room was ready, but even after the 15:00 check-in time passed, there was no message. Guests who arrived after me were being shown to their Rooms. Only after I asked twice did I finally receive a room key. In short, there simply aren’t enough staff. There were also not enough slippers, and even when I requested extras, they took a long time to arrive. It would have been better if they could have handed them to me at the front desk near the lounge on the spot, but instead they said they would bring them to my Room. Since I had to go out, I asked them to hang them on the doorknob—but when I returned, they had been placed inside the Room. So someone entered… For afternoon tea, about 10 minutes beforehand I was told it was available without a Reservation. I said I would quickly leave my bags in my Room and come back, but when I returned to the lounge, we were kept waiting and then told that this time slot wasn’t available after all. They suggested a paid option called “Palette” if we wanted a break. That’s not acceptable when we’re already paying a lounge fee. If the venue couldn’t be used, weren’t there other options—such as takeaway to our Room or allowing us to use Palette in place of the lounge? Because we were traveling with a child, an Ocean Wing family venue was prepared during evening cocktails. While I appreciated the consideration, the difference from the lounge itself was shocking—there was zero sense of luxury; it felt like a banquet hall buffet at a regional Hotel. The menu was also mostly the same for both days. At checkout as well—we had to stand at the counter. Isn’t check-in/out supposed to be done in the lounge? On top of that, when settling resort fees and lounge charges, we were billed for our child’s lounge fee even though our child is under 6 years old. We pointed it out on site; there wasn’t even an apology. The statement we received showed something like “3 guests → 2 guests,” and they didn’t seem willing to reissue it properly either. Everyone should check their bill carefully. A lot happened throughout our stay—and because this is how it ended too—it left us with an unpleasant feeling overall and many disappointments. Even if we stay again someday, we won’t choose Club Tower—and honestly will probably choose another Hotel instead.

Thanks to you, we had a very satisfying stay.

This was our first trip to Ishigaki with our elementary school-aged child, and we had great weather throughout our stay, so we really enjoyed everything, including the pool and the ocean park. Thank you very much. As for the Room, we were upgraded from the Room we had reserved (I will refrain from naming it specifically) to an even better one, which made for a wonderful stay. The Garden BBQ we used for dinner (for an additional fee) offered plenty of food and a great atmosphere, and our child was very happy. A couple of points I noticed regarding breakfast (included in the rate), although we went at a late time: - Refills for items that had run out were slow. - Some foreign children occupied the pancake machine area for a long time, making it difficult for our child and other children to use it. Also, as clearly stated on the Hotel website, a Facility usage fee applies to guests aged 13 and over; however, we were also charged this fee at checkout for our 9-year-old elementary school-aged child. When I mentioned that it should not apply to an elementary school student, I was told that because the Reservation was made as an adult (perhaps without careful confirmation), the fee would apply. After I reiterated that our child had been booked as an elementary school student in the Reservation, they finally removed the Facility usage fee for our child. I would appreciate more consistent handling of this in the future. That said, this Hotel is high quality overall—including the pool—and we were very satisfied with our stay. We would definitely like to stay again.

My in-room dining order was forgotten.

I stayed in the Bay Wing. It was my first time staying in Ishigaki, but I had stayed at InterContinental several times before, so I had high expectations. Since it’s a new wing, the ocean-view Room was clean, and I felt choosing this one was the right decision. After sightseeing, I checked in and ordered in-room dining. Even after waiting about an hour, it didn’t arrive. Since it seemed busy with many guests, I decided to wait a bit longer. As nearly two hours had passed, I checked—and it seemed the order had been forgotten. Because it was already past 9:00 p.m., I was told that only the night menu could be offered at that point. They apologized and said it would be complimentary, but since I had been looking forward to a proper dinner like a burger and Yaeyama soba, there was no way a salad would satisfy me... so I went out to find something to eat. I don’t know if this was due to kitchen circumstances, but since it was clearly the Hotel’s mistake, I would have appreciated a more sincere response. At checkout the next day when asked how my stay was, I also felt disappointed that yesterday’s issue didn’t seem to have been shared. However, after reading other guests’ comments, I also started to feel that service quality may gradually be declining.

Please enjoy breakfast at the club when you have enough time.

This was my third stay at the Club. When I stayed right after the Club building opened, everything impressed me, but since then the quality has declined. This time, breakfast was the issue. Salads and similar items were buffet-style, but the main dishes and Japanese set meals had to be ordered. Even after waiting more than 30 minutes, they still didn’t arrive. When they finally did, we had ordered for three people but only two servings came. Our departure time was approaching, so we canceled the remaining one—then just as we were about to leave our table, they brought it out anyway. We could barely eat it, which was a waste. At the buffet as well, there weren’t enough plates. We told staff multiple times that there were no plates available. Ice and drinks also ran out and were not replenished for a long time. I regretted not going to the buffet in the neighboring building from the start. Not everyone has plenty of time in the morning, so I think you should reconsider making guests wait so long with an order-based system. This is a harsh comment, but everything else was good.

    Summer Vacation

We stayed in the Club Wing. The buffet was served in a spacious setting and the food was delicious. Access to the beach was also convenient, and it was a very satisfying environment for our whole family, including our children. The only downside was that there was often a wait because only one staff member handled reception at the Club Wing. There was also very little guidance about on-site rules (for example, where swimwear is allowed), so we had to ask each time. In addition, the lounge required reservations, which made it difficult to use. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again.

Overall, the stay was comfortable. The food was especially delicious. The Japanese dinner is highly recommended. As for the Facility, there are far too few washing machines. I would like at least four on each floor. If I recall correctly, there were a total of seven across two floors in the entire Ocean Wing building. I gave up and drove a rental car to an outside laundromat.

    It was a pleasant Hotel.

We stayed at the Club InterContinental for 2 nights and 3 days. We arrived around 1:30 pm, but we were not able to enter our Room until 3:00 pm. If we had been told in advance what time the Room would be ready, we could have gone to the pool or a café, but instead we were shown to the lounge, given an explanation, and then made to wait for over an hour, which felt like wasted time. At the Club Lounge meals, there were small issues such as incorrect orders, receiving the same item twice, and not having chopsticks nearby. It didn’t matter for us since we don’t have small children, but Bay Wing and Club InterContinental guests were told they cannot use the Ocean Wing pool. Since only the Ocean Wing has a water slide, I thought elementary school kids would probably want to go there. The stargazing tour was wonderful—we could lie on beach chairs and look up at a sky full of stars. All of the food was delicious, and our Room was clean and comfortable throughout our stay.

I stayed in the Club Building for 6 nights.

My first trip to Ishigaki Island was a truly memorable stay. The Room was new, clean, and spacious enough. The bed was also very comfortable. I had breakfast every day at the Club building, and I was satisfied with both the presentation and the taste. The only downside was that the restaurant seemed understaffed. At SALTIDA, I had to go find a staff member twice just to place an order. My companion’s dish arrived 40 minutes after ordering; when we asked to confirm whether the order had gone through—ready to cancel and leave if it hadn’t—the dish came out a few minutes later. I understand our timing overlapped with an eight-person group who sat down before us, but we still waited quite a while until their ordering was finished, and then nearly 30 more minutes passed between my dish arriving and my companion’s dish being served. The staff positioning and table assignment did not seem well managed, so they were not able to keep an eye on us. I also felt some understaffing during breakfast at the Club building, though not enough to be frustrating. However, the menu explanations felt somewhat cursory; I think it would be better if they were explained more carefully.

    It was disappointing.

I visit Ishigaki Island often, but this was my first stay here. I was looking forward to the club lounge access. The Facility was clean, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious Ishigaki-style stay. Thank you as well for accommodating my Room Service requests individually. On the other hand, there were several disappointing points regarding the service I had expected. - Even though I requested housekeeping at a specific time, the Room had not been cleaned when I returned in the evening after going out. It also seemed that my phone request had not been handed over properly, and I had to explain everything again. - After cleaning, there was no replenishment of mineral water. Some of the empty plastic bottles I had placed together so they were clearly trash were left behind, and the hand towel at the sink was not replaced. - The fruit delivered via Room Service came without plastic wrap or any cover, which raised some hygiene concerns. - At breakfast, the machine for warming bread remained broken, so I ate cold bread. The selection is not very large, and the taste is fairly average. - Upon arrival at the Hotel, an experienced male staff member outside did not feel welcoming. When leaving my luggage, he asked whether there were any fragile items, but his wording did not feel gentle and left me uncomfortable. Also, there was no bath chair in the guest room at first. One was brought to me upon request, but it was so low that it felt like it might be for children; with my bad knees it was difficult to sit down and stand up. Because this is a Hotel used by guests of many age groups, I would appreciate more user-friendly equipment. At check-in we were given soap as a gift; however, there was no explanation of the scents and we were made to choose in a very businesslike way. Until we arrived at our Room, our escort made no small talk and felt mechanical. The lounge atmosphere also made it hard to visit without a Reservation. The afternoon tea was delicious, but service quality varied greatly depending on staff members. Overall during my stay, it felt like things didn’t quite reach where you need them—like I always had to ask questions myself or look things up, and I contacted reception many times. For an InterContinental experience (especially), it felt like such a missed opportunity. If service standards and attention to detail improve further, this could become an even more wonderful Hotel. I would like to return once improvements have been made.

While there were some positives, I felt the service and coordination fell short for the price range.

I stayed here expecting the standards of the ANA InterContinental brand. There are positives—the pool, beach, and dining were enjoyable, and it does feel like a resort. I don’t think it’s a bad Hotel. However, during this stay in the Ocean Wing, I was quite disappointed with the in-room Facility quality, service response, and internal communication within the Hotel. First, the shower water pressure was extremely weak—uncomfortable even for normal use. The hair dryer also had very low airflow and felt underwhelming for a Hotel in this price range. What concerned me even more was communication and handover between staff. There were multiple occasions where information about cleaning requests or guidance provided by the Hotel was not correctly shared with the front desk. Each time, I had to explain the same thing repeatedly, which caused anxiety and stress during my stay. The most disappointing part of this experience was that many staff members seemed to have an attitude of “as long as I handle my own task.” It felt like there was little awareness of proper follow-up after handovers, addressing guest concerns proactively, or taking responsibility as a whole Hotel. It didn’t feel like they were truly engaging with guests. Some staff members were courteous and helpful, but overall it did not feel like service quality that matches the price or brand. Compared with other Hotels in a similar price range, Hilton or Marriott felt more reliable in terms of Facilities, staff communication, and consistency of service—honestly, they left a better impression. Personally, I think staying in the Bay Wing would be more satisfying. For couples or adults-only stays—and for those who prioritize Facility standards and service quality—I recommend considering the Bay Wing rather than the Ocean Wing. If your main purpose is to spend time at the pool or beach as a family, then the Ocean Wing can still be an option. At this price point, I would like to see improvements in room Facilities quality, staff responsiveness, and accuracy of internal information sharing within the Hotel.
