An Accommodation with attentive, thoughtful hospitality
We stayed for two nights during the Obon holiday period in August. From our email exchanges before arrival, we already felt this was a very attentive Accommodation, and our stay fully matched that impression. The Accommodation has the charm of a traditional Japanese Ryokan, yet it never feels outdated—rather, it is elegant and calming. What impressed us most was how spotless everything was throughout the property. We didn’t see any noticeable dust or litter anywhere, even in shared areas such as the lobby, public bath, and massage area. Needless to say, the Room was also cleaned with great care, including the private open-air bath. The Onsen water in our Room was at a perfect temperature, allowing us to relax and soak comfortably. Even after bathing we stayed warm for a long time—it truly felt like high-quality Onsen water. We only used the public bath once or twice because it felt a bit shallow for us, but both the washing area and changing room were spacious and very pleasant to use. The private bath was also excellent; however, the tub floor was extremely slippery and I nearly slipped and fell. I noticed there was a warning sign afterward, but it might have been helpful to be told in advance. What made us happiest about both the public bath and private bath was that towels (both large and small) and amenities were provided there. These days many places ask guests to bring towels from their Room to the baths, which is often inconvenient. Here, towels were available at every bathing area—and there were plenty of towels in the Room as well—so we could enjoy bathing very comfortably. The only Facility/amenity improvement we would hope for is regarding the indoor sandals (zori). The straps were quite tight for me; my toes rubbed painfully and my skin peeled. If possible, it would be nice to have an alternative option such as simple sandals so guests can choose what fits best. The food was delicious with no particular complaints; we gave 4 stars simply because we hope it will become even better over time. Overall: comfortable and impeccably clean Accommodation; every staff member (including housekeeping) was genuinely kind, friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. It’s an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

A Ryokan Like an Art Museum
Beautiful paintings are displayed on the Ryokan’s corridor walls, and you’ll see one right in front of you when you step out of the elevator. Many of the artists were names I recognized. On the first floor, there is a space where paintings are exhibited and you can relax and chat while enjoying coffee or tea. I love viewing art, so it felt like visiting a museum for free. The service was excellent, and the meals were delicious with just the right portions. When I mentioned that I have back problems, they arranged a table and chairs for in-room dining. You can also see Mt. Fuji beside Awashima. The sea was clear and beautiful with high transparency. It was much less crowded than places like Atami, making it easy to get around comfortably.

It had a calm and serene atmosphere.
This was our first stay. The room with an ocean view offered a great scenery, and we could even faintly see Mt. Fuji, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere. Since I was traveling with my elderly mother, I chose accommodation with a private bath in the room instead of using the public bath for safety reasons. After reviewing many photos of accommodations in Izu, we decided on this one. The private bath in the room felt more like an indoor bath, which was slightly disappointing. However, what bothered us more was the strong chlorine smell that lingered on our bodies even after bathing. We reported this issue to the staff at the accommodation. My mother eventually gave up on using the private bath and tried out the public bath instead. The hinoki (cypress) wood bathtub provided a very pleasant experience and left us satisfied. Since there is an alternating schedule for men’s and women’s baths, we used another section of the public baths in the morning; however, it had significant steps that required extra caution during use. While my mother expressed her wish to revisit during another season, it would be difficult for us to return unless improvements are made regarding the situation with the private bath—something we found quite unfortunate.
