Stay in a Club Floor room
Arrived at the Hotel at 3:00 PM. Check-in was in the lounge. I was shown an information sheet and told there was also one in the Room, so I thought I could read it later and went straight to afternoon tea. The smoked potato chips snack was not replenished. I felt that unless you check in at 2:00 PM, you might not be able to fully enjoy it. When I entered the Room, I couldn’t find the information sheet. For Wi-Fi, I only used the password by checking the Hotel’s brown manual. After returning home, I read a blog by someone who had stayed there and learned that we were free to drink whatever was in the refrigerator (I didn’t open it because I assumed it was empty). That made me wonder if this had been written on the information sheet. Come to think of it, there were wine glasses in the Room. I got thirsty at night—if only I had known there was another bottle of water in the refrigerator. Explanations really need to be given verbally as well. For a club-floor Room, having only water is enough; you can always go to the lounge for other drinks anyway. How are unused drinks in the refrigerator managed? Wouldn’t switching to water only reduce costs? (Just my amateur opinion.) There is Shuttle Service from Otsu Station, and the large public bath was great. The Room itself was excellent, and the staff were pleasant as well. Still, not being able to find that information sheet in my Room is what stayed with me most.

Be moved by the breathtaking view of Lake Biwa stretching out before you.
The Room was clean, and Lake Biwa stretched out right in front of us—it was wonderful. It was also close to the Michigan Cruise departure and arrival point, and there were many Shuttle Service buses from Otsu Station, which made sightseeing very convenient. We really appreciated having a large public bath, but it didn’t seem spacious enough for the number of guests, so it often felt crowded.

Accommodation for a Siblings’ Gathering
We used this for a fraternity trip. The view from the Room was great, and it was clean and comfortable throughout our stay. Luckily, fireworks were launched over Lake Biwa and we could see them from the Room, so everyone was very satisfied, saying it became a wonderful memory! We knew there were no toothbrushes provided as amenities, but we would have appreciated having hairbrushes in the public bath area, even disposable ones. It was a bit disappointing that drinks during dinner service were delivered somewhat slowly, but overall it’s a good Hotel and we would like to stay again.

It was a wonderful Hotel.
I contacted the Hotel in advance to discuss check-in and dinner times, and they responded very quickly and pleasantly from the start. Everyone at the Hotel, both at the front desk and in the restaurant, was wonderfully hospitable. Both the Italian dinner buffet and the breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious dishes. The Onsen had soft, soothing water, which was also great. It was a truly wonderful Hotel in every way.

We were soothed by the perfect setting.
This was my first stay, and I was looking forward to it because the Reviews said the staff service—including in the lounge—was outstanding. It truly lived up to the Reviews, and I was satisfied with everything. The staff were genuinely polite and attentive, and I had a very comfortable stay. Their constant smiles and the “welcome back” greeting in the lounge were wonderful. I ended up drinking and eating too much, so I couldn’t eat any of the Italian dinner at all. Although I went to dinner feeling full, what disappointed me was that even though it was a buffet, when I arrived at 7:30 p.m., there were noticeably few dishes and many items were empty. It felt unfortunate that we had to ask staff to bring out refills, so I left without eating much. Perhaps because I didn’t eat dinner, breakfast in the lounge was excellent. There weren’t a huge number of items, but everything felt carefully prepared—so much so that there almost wasn’t enough freshly cooked kama-meshi—and I fully enjoyed Shiga’s local flavors. This is a Hotel I definitely want to return to. The Onsen and the Room were both amazing as well, but there’s too much to write here—I’ll share more on my next visit. Thank you very much.

I was very satisfied, so I immediately made my next Reservation.
I visited for my birthday. I’ve used the restaurant many times, but this was my first stay. As it was for a special occasion, I chose the “Lumina” Room (40 sqm with a lake-view terrace). It was truly comfortable, and despite the unfortunate weather, I felt great throughout my stay. When I was in the Room, I relaxed in the chair by the window to read and leisurely gaze out over Lake Biwa. Having time like this is exactly what makes a lakeside Hotel with a great view so special. For dinner, I chose the Italian buffet. I also ordered the half all-you-can-drink option, so I could enjoy the dishes with sparkling wine and white wine. The staff’s service was excellent as well. I had an even better time than expected, so I’ve already booked another stay for early next year. I’m looking forward to it.

Don’t do it! Biwako Hotel
I stayed here for the first time because I trusted the high Review ratings. I arrived early (13:00) to park so I could ride the Michigan. Since check-in is at 15:00, I spoke to the front desk, and they said I couldn’t enter the Room yet, but they would store my luggage and were fine with me using the parking lot. On top of that, they told me that if I made a Michigan Reservation through the Hotel, it would be 600 yen cheaper per person. After returning for official check-in, I was about to head out to explore the area when a front desk staff member said, “It will start raining soon—please take an umbrella.” It was cloudy, but I never expected rain so quickly; within 10 minutes there was heavy rain… My wife and I were really glad we borrowed umbrellas. I was impressed by their quick thinking. The Room was beautifully prepared—I couldn’t help taking photos. The spectacular view of Lake Biwa from the Room and the fountain at night were also magical. Dinner at the Italian restaurant wasn’t overly seasoned, and we enjoyed a wide variety of dishes. The bath was relaxing and soothing as well. The breakfast buffet tasted great, and staff promptly cleared used dishes, which made it very pleasant. However, only one thing disappointed me: the line for salads and egg dishes was combined and became very long. Oh—and one more thing: the toothbrush wasn’t great. Early in the morning while looking out from my Room, I saw many people walking or running along Lake Biwa—it looked like they were really enjoying it. Next time, I’d like to come prepared to do that too. Just as in the Reviews, this Accommodation deserves 5 points. Thank you very much—I truly appreciate it.

Overall high quality
Overall, I thought this was an excellent Hotel with a high standard. It’s also nice that even if you arrive early, you can enjoy yourself at the adjacent Round1. The large public bath has both pros and cons. You don’t need to bring towels from your Room, and you can choose hot or iced sencha, barley tea, and water—the barley tea is especially good. The hair dryer is a great Panasonic model (around ¥30,000). If I had to say one thing, T3 would be even better. The large lockers with keys are also a plus. On the downside, there were no lotion-type amenities, so my skin dried out. I’d also like razors to be available in the bath area—bringing my own is inconvenient. As for the baths, only the outdoor bath next to the indoor bath oddly has window screening that blocks the view, leaving almost no sense of openness. Why is it fine for the indoor bath? The food quality is on the higher side. Everything tastes good, and even the fruit is properly ripe. Desserts are decent. The bread is tasty, and the whipped butter is nice as well. The soup is rich. However, I’d like a bit more space around where items are placed—it feels cramped. Also, personally I don’t agree with ringing a bell every time new dishes are ready because it creates long lines; quietly replenishing items would be smarter.

The No. 1 Hotel on Lake Biwa
I often stay here because it’s only about an hour from Osaka. The Room has a bright, open feel with a lake view. However, there is a single sofa for enjoying the view, but it’s uncomfortable, so I don’t think it’s necessary. The lounge featured a 5th-anniversary revival, which brought back memories and felt nostalgic. Amenities like toothbrushes that most Hotels provide were not available for years to help protect the Lake Biwa environment, but I was told that due to complaints in recent years, they are now provided free of charge if you ask. However, even though I’ve stayed many times, no one ever mentioned this to me, so when I forgot mine I had to go buy one at a nearby drugstore. If the policy changed, I wish you had informed guests. The next day I bought many souvenirs at the shop, but was told that individual bags would cost 5 yen for plastic bags. I was disappointed that such a well-established Hotel as Biwako Hotel doesn’t provide souvenir bags.

The view from the Room and the Hotel service were excellent.
We stayed in a twin Room with breakfast included, and the Room was spacious with a great view of Lake Biwa right in front of us. My wife also used the spa, and she was very satisfied as it was spacious, well equipped, and had a great view as well. Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, including many local specialties. The staff were extremely helpful with parking and information about nearby shops. The only reason I deducted one star for dining was that the tapas with champagne free-flow on the rooftop terrace had to be moved to the second floor due to cloudy weather, which was disappointing; however, we still enjoyed it in the cool air. It’s a Hotel we would like to stay at again.

Lake Biwa
I treated my wife, who I’m always causing to worry, to an extraordinary three-day getaway so she could truly relax. The view of Lake Biwa from the large windows was magnificent—especially the morning glow and sunrise, which were wonderful and left us feeling refreshed. We both had a very comfortable stay. The tempura rice bowl we took out on the first day and the Japanese lunch set with the cruise on the second day were both delicious. Breakfast in the private lounge and the variety of offerings were also very satisfying. However, perhaps because the Room humidity was high, it was unfortunate that we had two uncomfortable nights’ sleep, and I also noticed an odor in the bedding. If these points could be improved, I think it would be a perfect stay.

We stayed with our 2.5-year-old grandchild. They were very happy to see the boats from the Room. The pool was 60 cm deep—just the right depth for them to stand—so we felt safe and they had a great time playing. Thank you to the staff for your kind and attentive service.

It was a wonderful stay.
As a special treat for myself, I stayed in a Room with the bed placed by the window overlooking Lake Biwa. There was a desk at the head of the bed, also designed to enjoy the lake view, so I could see it throughout my stay. I could also step out onto the balcony and feel connected to the lake, enjoying the fountain at night and the sound of waves in the morning. I would like to stay at this Hotel again in the future.

We highly recommend the Club Lounge!
This is my second stay, mainly for the club lounge. As expected, the lounge here is very comfortable. They have a non-alcoholic cocktail menu for those who don’t drink much alcohol. The craft beer is also delicious. The Darjeeling iced tea is made to order and tastes great. The food is refined and high quality. I went back for more salad, fried smelt, and fruit. The bread in particular is excellent—exactly the type I like—so I was happy. I’d love to have it available in the morning as well. Last time I chose the breakfast buffet, but this time I opted for the Japanese breakfast served in the lounge. Fruit, salad, and rice porridge are available at the buffet counter. The rice was delicious. The staff were pleasant and kind. The large public bath Onsen also scores highly! Overall, it’s an Accommodation that feels wonderful to stay at.

A Hotel You'll Want to Stay at Again
All the staff were wonderful. We waited a little at breakfast, but the gentleman at the entrance gave a deep bow and apologized with a smile, which made us feel comfortable and enjoy breakfast. I felt satisfied that I had stayed at a truly good Hotel for the first time in a while—something you don’t experience at foreign-owned Hotels or with their staff. I would definitely like to stay here again in the future.

The Hotel staff were attentive and made our stay very pleasant. There were activities to entertain children, and the Hotel had a warm atmosphere. I wish there had been fresh juice at breakfast. The view of Lake Biwa from the Room was wonderful.

It’s been a while since my last stay.
I stayed at Biwako Hotel for the first time in two or three years. Although it was crowded due to the Obon holiday season, the club lounge was not too busy, so I was able to relax and enjoy my time. Next time, I would like to stay during the fireworks season.

The view from the window was great.
I don’t usually stay at large-scale Hotels, but I chose this one for the purpose of my trip. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, with lots of smiles, creating a great atmosphere. However, I added breakfast and found the ingredients quite ordinary—given the 4-star expectation, it was a bit disappointing. Also, the buffet area was far too small. The food could only be laid out in a single line, which caused queues. Because the layout doesn’t allow guests to move freely, when it’s crowded you can’t get past others—for example, even if my child was taking time deciding on eggs and I wasn’t choosing that item, there wasn’t enough space for me to move forward. I wonder how this works during peak season when there are many guests. There was also only one coffee machine (even though there were pots as well), so we had to wait constantly. Since the flow of people clearly hasn’t been considered in the design, breakfast time was very frustrating. The location is great so I can see why it’s popular, but I would have liked a more relaxed Hotel experience—such as splitting the dining area into two sections.

The view from the Room is wonderful.
The view from the Room was wonderful, with a panoramic outlook over Lake Biwa. The Italian buffet was delicious across the board. I would have been happy if gelato had been available for dessert. The Room is spacious, but it was a bit disappointing that the TV felt small for the size of the space. Also, the layout of the bath, toilet, and sink wasn’t very convenient—honestly, it felt like just a large unit bathroom.

We made wonderful summer memories!
On our first stay two years ago, we were moved by the breathtaking view of Lake Biwa from our Room, so we decided to stay again for a second visit. The kid-friendly festival-style games, quizzes, and the gift of handheld fireworks made our elementary school–aged daughter very happy! We also used the Hotel pool again this time, and with the large public bath as well, we had a wonderful and comfortable two days. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, and I ended up eating more than I should. After breakfast, my daughter and I took walks around Lake Biwa and were able to forget everyday life and truly refresh. If possible, it’s such a lovely Hotel that we’d love to stay for about a week at a leisurely pace! Thank you very much to all the staff!

The barbecue was disappointing.
The Hotel has a balcony with an amazing view—absolutely wonderful. The only disappointment is the rooftop barbecue, which is available only in summer. Last year the food was delicious on the barbecue grill, but this year it was changed to a flat griddle. When you place sirloin on it, grease pools up, and even after eating just a little I got heartburn. It’s such a waste of good meat. Could you switch back to the barbecue grill?

I was comforted by the warm hospitality.
We stayed for one night during the summer holidays. Since it was the day after the fireworks festival, it wasn’t very crowded. We arrived a little early, but our Room was already ready, so check-in was smooth. They also upgraded our Room, and the view from the Room was breathtaking. After check-in, we relaxed by the pool. The menu isn’t extensive, but there’s a poolside café, and having a beer while looking out over Lake Biwa was fantastic. Dinner was an Italian buffet with a wide variety of dishes, and we really enjoyed it. The staff at the front desk, restaurant, and pool were all pleasant and welcoming—this is a Hotel we’d love to visit again.

What was good about the service We had coffee and Italian food, and the staff were very friendly, which made us feel comfortable. What was not good about the service We stayed the day before the fireworks festival. We booked because we wanted to use the pool with our children, but although we were told at check-in that we could use it again the next morning, we couldn’t. Relax in the lounge
I enjoyed my winter stay, so this time I visited in summer. I was able to relax, spending time in the lounge and soaking in the Onsen. The lounge food selection was a little different from last time. Although there were many guests this time, the food took a long time to come out and we had to wait quite a while. Breakfast was better with more options. I had grilled eel (shirayaki) in the morning. It was great to enjoy the garden pool after check-in.

A Trip to Celebrate a 88th Birthday
We stayed as a group of six across four generations, from age 88 to 3, to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. Thank you for the celebratory message card in our Hotel Room and for gifting us a special dessert plate during our meal. It became a wonderful memory. We would love to stay again.

Your First Visit to Lake Biwa
This was my first visit to Lake Biwa. I stayed with Club Floor access, and the service was excellent. I was able to relax in the Club Lounge, enjoy delicious food, and unwind at a leisurely pace. The sunrise from my Room was also beautiful, with Lake Biwa sparkling. For dining, on the first day we used Italian Dining Bel Lago. It was fun to watch the open kitchen, and every dish was delicious. On the second day we planned to do the rooftop barbecue, but due to rain it was changed to serving items grilled indoors. The taste was very good, but the service could have been better. It felt less like a Hotel experience and more like an izakaya-style approach. The rice was supposed to be cooked in a pot, but unfortunately it did not turn out well. It was obvious even by appearance that the heat had been insufficient. They switched us to pre-cooked replacement rice, but although pot-cooked rice is promoted as a highlight, what we received seemed like regular rice placed into a pot. When it was served, their attitude felt like they wanted us to just accept it as is. I would have appreciated confirmation at the time of serving and having it re-cooked properly in the pot instead. I hope this will be improved.

My spouse and I stayed for one night as a preliminary visit before returning together. In conclusion, I told my wife, “It’s a very nice Accommodation—look forward to it.” First, what I found especially good: Above all, being able to gaze out over the vast Lake Biwa and experience both the sunset and sunrise reflected on the water was truly wonderful. We also enjoyed Shiga Prefecture’s local specialties—both at the Italian buffet and at the Japanese breakfast. At the club lounge, we were able to enjoy carefully prepared items at each time period and spend our time in an elegant atmosphere. Next, points I would like you to consider improving: There were a few food crumbs on the Room floor that seemed to be from a previous guest (only a small amount). In the lounge as well, there was a noticeable difference in service quality depending on who assisted us. I understand this may be unavoidable with younger staff members, but it is a lounge… The bathroom floor in the Room became slippery when wet, which felt slightly unsafe. I’ve mentioned some minor details, but overall we liked it very much. We plan to visit again soon as a couple, and we appreciate your continued hospitality.

It was great.
Check-in was in the lounge, but we waited for a long time and I wondered if we might have been forgotten. The welcome sweets were beautiful and delicious! It was great to have a large Onsen bath as well, but the changing room was hot. The lounge from the evening onward was calm. There wasn’t much variety of food, but everything tasted good, and the ice cream was especially delicious. The Room also had a sofa for enjoying the view over Lake Biwa, and the lighting and color scheme were coordinated and stylish. I was happy to be able to make a Reservation at the shop for Mii-dera Chikara Mochi, which I thought I wouldn’t be able to buy. The 12:00 check-out let us relax, which was wonderful. Since it’s a large Hotel, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’d be happy to stay again.
