We stayed here with four adults—my parents and us as a couple. This was our second visit, and we were able to relax thanks to the seasonal cuisine and wide selection of drinks. Since everyone has different preferences, the all-inclusive plan made it easy for all of us to enjoy both the meals and the baths, making it a truly wonderful trip.

I stayed for two nights as a solo traveler. The Hotel and my Room were very clean, and I was able to enjoy the Onsen and large public bath comfortably. Although it was all-inclusive, I chose to add a luxurious dinner and breakfast on both nights, and I was truly impressed that the menus were changed each day. The locally sourced ingredients were delicious, and in particular the olive-fed beef was tender and easy to eat even when well done. Even as a solo guest, the staff treated me warmly. The restaurant staff especially spoke with me with genuine smiles, creating a relaxed atmosphere that left me with wonderful memories of my trip. Thank you very much. The lounge I used after dinner was also very spacious with a great ambiance, and I was surprised by the wide variety of drinks available. They even served udon as a late-night snack, which really gave me a taste of Kagawa. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s warm hospitality. This is a Hotel I would love to stay at again when I visit Kagawa.

The slightly lukewarm temperature of the open-air bath feels absolutely wonderful. This is a great-value Accommodation, and I stay here regularly.

It was the best, dreamlike three days, warmly welcomed with a familiar smile. After exploring the area and returning to the Room, I was greeted again with another smile. The front desk staff welcomed us with exceptional kindness. The Room was spacious and spotless, with a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Toya. In the private open-air bath, we could soak in the Onsen while fully enjoying the spectacular scenery of Lake Toya. The open-air bath in the large public bath on the top floor was at the perfect temperature—never too hot—so we could relax without having to step out repeatedly. Looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity bath, we felt completely refreshed in both body and mind; it was truly outstanding. The dining was also excellent. The dinner buffet featured an abundant selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi, including scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp. There were also hot dishes such as grilled crab legs and steak—all you can eat. Breakfast offered a wide variety of seafood as well, including raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, and our whole family was thoroughly satisfied with the meals at “Kohan no Sumika.” I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Ryokan so far, but “Kohan no Sumika” is one of the few Hotels that I can say I absolutely want to return to. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff, our family enjoyed an unforgettable and perfect stay. Thank you very much. 2. Business Courtesy Version (more formal and polite tone) This is a flawless Onsen Resort Hotel. I stayed at “Kohan no Sumika” on August 30. The front desk service was extremely courteous, and the Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well maintained. From the guest Room we could enjoy sweeping views of Lake Toya, and in the private open-air bath we were able to savor both the Onsen experience and the beautiful scenery of Lake Toya to our heart’s content. The top-floor open-air bath had a wonderfully comfortable temperature that allowed for a long soak without overheating. Relaxing while looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity Onsen made for an exceptionally luxurious moment of calm. Dinner was highly satisfying: along with plentiful fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi—such as scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp—there were also all-you-can-eat options like grilled crab and steak. Breakfast likewise included seafood such as raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, leaving our entire family very pleased with its quality. Although I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Hotels to date, “Kohan no Sumika” is one of those rare outstanding Accommodations that I would very much like to visit again. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everyone’s warm hospitality; thanks to you all, our family enjoyed a truly perfect time together.

The ocean view from the Room is wonderful, as are the views of Atami and the sea from the restaurant. The guest Room is spacious and airy, and the Onsen bath is large enough to stretch out in. Dinner was especially delicious, particularly the stone-grilled beef tenderloin steak. It was a very satisfying stay.

My biggest concern was that the Hotel had been renovated. When I looked into its history, I learned it is a building with real historical value. I felt vaguely uneasy at first, but reading the Reviews put my mind at ease. I was also curious about what “EM” meant, but I didn’t look it up and figured I’d find out once I arrived. After making my Reservation, I started noticing that “fermentation” is surprisingly common in everyday life. I hadn’t had many chances to stay here before, but this time I decided to book a stay. It was far more comfortable than expected, and staying here was absolutely the right choice. The view from the Room was amazing—because it’s on higher ground, you can see far into the distance. I could even see the expressway I usually drive on without thinking about it, and beyond that, there was a view of the sea. The Room is cleaned using EM as well, and it made for an exceptionally comfortable stay. What impressed me most was the food. It wasn’t just an ordinary buffet; everything seemed thoughtfully designed with health in mind, and EM is used too—I genuinely felt refreshed from within. The dishes also had a wonderful homemade quality, and every item tasted great with real ingredients you could appreciate. It almost makes me regret not coming sooner. The large public bath was spacious and relaxing, with no crowds, so I could unwind at my own pace. It soothed both body and mind. What surprised me most was how warmly each staff member welcomed guests. They supported one another as a team and treated guests with simple, genuine consideration. Unlike many other Hotels where service can feel formal or scripted, their hospitality felt truly personal—and that made all the difference. This stay was so wonderful that it’s a Hotel where I definitely want to return. If you’re unsure about booking Accommodation here, I highly recommend experiencing it at least once.

With its excellent location beside the approach to the shrine and within walking distance of Izumo Taisha, along with the Facility lovingly restored from a charming building from days gone by and the wonderful hospitality of all the staff, we were able to spend a truly pleasant time. Even though we visit again at almost the same time each year, the meals are different every time—delicious dishes that highlight local production for local consumption and are also a delight to look at—and once again we finished everything. If I may make one small request: as I get older, it can be difficult to read in the dim, atmospheric lighting. It would be very helpful if you could provide a light stand (even as a loan item) so guests can read books more easily. We look forward to visiting again next year. Thank you very much.

I’d been wanting to go fishing and had been curious about this Accommodation for a while, so I was finally able to stay here. The building and facilities felt a bit aged overall, but that created a calm atmosphere where I could relax without any pretense. There was tea-scented incense in the room, which really impressed me. I thoroughly enjoyed fishing, and at both dinner and breakfast the staff kindly explained everything in detail—their thoughtful hospitality made it a warm and comfortable stay. The meals were excellent in both quantity and quality. I’d love to come back in another season to enjoy fishing, the Onsen, and the food again.

Not only the Room but the entire property was very clean and well maintained, which made our stay very pleasant. If you go to the bath at 6:00 a.m., something good might happen.

Having a free-flowing natural Onsen in the Room that you can enjoy 24 hours a day is truly luxurious. The night we stayed, we experienced torrential rain and thunder for the first time and felt the power of the Aso mountains, yet even then we could hear bush warblers singing. It was a trip where we fully enjoyed nature. The hosts were wonderful people, and I understand why this Accommodation is so hard to book. Breakfast was generous, and above all, every dish was delicious—another highlight of our stay. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

Every dish in the meal was outstanding—the best of any Ryokan I have stayed at. I was also surprised at how delicious the seasoning was even on the fried item we were given to take home, made from the remaining fish. The Room was clean and well kept. The staff’s service was just right, and it felt very comfortable.

My daughter and I took a whirlwind 24-hour trip to Hakodate. Even with limited time to spend at the Hotel, we enjoyed wonderful meals, an Onsen, and a Room with an amazing location. It was a truly lovely Hotel. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, with a wide variety of options—everything was delicious, and we ended up eating far too much. We used the large public bath, and the view from the open-air bath in the morning was incredible. Since we checked in after sunset, it was pitch-dark outside when we arrived, but once daylight came, the view from the window took our breath away. As far as the eye could see was ocean—an unforgettable sight for someone who doesn’t live near the sea. The staff included many young people and international team members, and everyone treated us sincerely and with warm smiles, making our stay truly comfortable. The only disappointment was that our stay was far too short. Hakodate is quite far for us so we can’t visit often, but next time we’d like to stay at least two nights.

I stayed on a Saturday night over the weekend, and perhaps because it operates as a Business Hotel, the pricing felt very affordable. I stayed in a twin Room; it was reasonably spacious and very well cleaned. However, there was no safe in the Room, which was slightly inconvenient. There is no shared bath inside the Hotel, but we were informed that it partners with a nearby Onsen Facility. I used the in-room unit bath, though the drainage felt a bit slow. The anago hitsumabushi for dinner was excellent and truly enjoyable. With its reasonable Accommodation Fee, this Hotel is recommended for sightseeing in Onomichi and enjoying Hiroshima’s famous conger eel.

I often use this Hotel for day-use stays.\nTrue to its name, Spa Vintage, the Facility interiors are stylish and refined. The authentic sauna and cold plunge pool are also excellent, leaving both body and mind refreshed.\nI also love that they regularly offer löyly sessions.\nThe restaurant is highly recommended as well, with a superb location where you can enjoy Kobe’s night views.

The staff’s warm, smiling service, the meals, and the Room quality were all excellent. Thank you very much. Just one thing: it was disappointing that the pool hours are too short. Starting at 9:00 a.m. leaves little time before check-out and makes the morning feel rushed. If children’s hours prevent adults from using it at night, I would like you to offer a night pool with an age restriction. If this were available, I would definitely love to stay again next time.

This was my first stay, and I was very satisfied with both the large public bath and the breakfast. The Room didn’t feel cramped at all, and I was able to relax comfortably. Walking around town was fun, but it was hotter than expected, so I ended up drenched in sweat and completely exhausted. After rinsing off in the large public bath, I really didn’t feel like going back out, so the complimentary late-night soba service was truly appreciated. (The half-size portion was perfect as a light supper after eating out.) At breakfast, I loved being able to enjoy small portions of local specialties, and it felt like a great value. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again.
