Inami Kokori-an Annex Zuiun

We stayed here as a family. Inami is known as a mecca for traditional woodcarving artisans, and this Accommodation—renovated from an old kimono shop—perfectly matches the unique atmosphere of the town. Only one group per day. As others have commented, the Room, garden, and bath were all truly impeccable. What stood out most was the chef, who also served as our concierge. He was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the ingredients, the town’s history, and more. I was deeply moved by how learning about the cuisine and ingredients while dining made the meal even more extraordinary—it reminded me that food is also an encounter in itself. Thank you very much. Hearing about their experience after the Noto earthquake was heartbreaking, but we could also feel how people in Hokuriku are moving forward with determination. We would love to stay again.

The guest room is very spacious, with a living area, a Japanese-style room, and a bedroom. You can enjoy views of the beautifully maintained garden, which is also wonderfully illuminated at night. The sofa and TV are both very large, giving you plenty of space to relax. Everything—from the furniture and amenities to the tableware—was lovely. The welcome sweets (monaka), drink service (beer and milk), smoked potato chips, and mixed nuts were all delicious and stylish. There was also more ice cream than we could finish, including Häagen-Dazs and cream puff ice cream. From the washroom to the indoor bath, everything is very spacious, and there is even an open-air bath—perfect for enjoying as many baths as you like. It’s an Onsen. Dinner was French cuisine with touches of Japanese flavors—high-quality dishes that clearly took great time and care to prepare. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal with rice cooked in an earthenware pot; in addition to grilled fish and sashimi, the vegetable side dishes were authentic and delicious as well. Both meals make excellent use of ingredients from Toyama Prefecture. We visited from within the prefecture ourselves, but it was impressive how familiar ingredients were elevated by professional skill into something truly delicious. The chef may be young, but not only is the cooking outstanding—the service was consistently polished and flawless too. This Accommodation comes highly recommended with confidence for guests from outside the prefecture as well. It’s only March so far this year, but we may not find another Accommodation that surpasses it.
