High Expectations for The Ritz-Carlton Reserve—and a Disappointing Stay
The Ritz-Carlton Reserve is an ultra-luxury brand with only seven properties worldwide. As the pinnacle within The Ritz-Carlton portfolio, I arrived expecting exceptional hospitality. However, my first impression from arrival was somewhat disappointing. Even when I drove up to the entrance, no staff came out. In the end, I parked by myself and carried my luggage to the front desk. At check-in as well, there were few greetings or smiles, and I felt a clear gap between my expectations of the “Reserve” brand and the reality. On the other hand, the guest room was extremely high quality—beautiful materials and finishes—and above all, the view was spectacular. For dinner, we went to “Sushi Nagi.” Our seats were closest to the glass, so the scenery was outstanding. The chef had a pleasant demeanor, and we started our meal with high expectations. As for the food: The appetizer—tofu topped with mozuku seaweed and uni—was average. The sashimi I had been looking forward to included only scallop and flounder. The grilled item was kinki (channel rockfish), but it bothered me that it was brought out from a back office area; moreover, it had almost no flavor—so much so that I wondered if they had forgotten to salt it. Given how fatty kinki can be, it felt like a real waste. The nigiri showed steady technique typical of an experienced chef, but even then there were disappointments—for example, the king crab tasted as if it might have been frozen. Ironically, the final dessert melon ended up being what tasted best. Of course, it may be unreasonable to expect the same level as top sushi restaurants in Shinchi or Ginza. Still, simply enjoying champagne while taking in that incredible view was satisfying in itself. I also had some concerns about the large public bath. The bath itself is nice; however, the powder room is far too dark—so dark that you can barely see your face in the mirror. For a space meant for getting ready after bathing, more consideration should be given to lighting brightness and placement. In addition, while there is a sauna (Facility), there is no cold plunge bath. If you install a sauna (Facility), I would like to see an environment where guests can use it comfortably—including a cold plunge bath—as part of a complete experience. Especially given this top-tier “Ritz-Carlton Reserve” branding (Facility), expectations for wellness-related Facility naturally run higher. More than anything else though، what concerned me most was their service operation. It felt like there were operational issues—for example، too few front desk staff and an apparent lack of on-site leadership۔ Drink delivery was also extremely slow، and after moving on to bar، bar

Very satisfied.
Everything was wonderful. What impressed me the most was the staff. They were always smiling and did their best to help, which made my stay very comfortable. The meals were delicious, but the rice at breakfast was too firm for me to eat... I think it’s just a matter of preference, but I ended up leaving some (sorry). If I have another opportunity, I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Hidden Gem Hotel
The Hotel, part of a globally renowned group, was surprisingly quiet and peaceful despite expectations of being crowded. Most of the staff and guests were international, making it feel like a vacation abroad. The Facility was clean, and all amenities felt top-notch. The hospitality was exceptional and very comforting. Even with foreign staff who were not fluent in Japanese, their smiles and kind service were truly heartwarming. The dining menu had limited options, but the taste was excellent.

Are the guest rooms, Onsen, and other facilities excellent?
The Ritz-Carlton here has a disappointing level of staff service. While the room, restaurant, and onsen facility are excellent, the lack of professionalism from the staff ruins the experience. For example, during breakfast, there was no explanation of the menu, and I couldn't enjoy drinks, fruits, or side dishes provided in a buffet style. Instead, plates were cleared repeatedly during my meal, and staff in the open kitchen were chatting loudly with no sense of hospitality. Additionally, when asking about facilities or other details, I received unsatisfactory responses and eventually gave up trying to get proper answers. The cleanliness of the room's bath was questionable as well; it seemed that towel replacements were skipped due to onsen usage. Next time I will choose Hyatt in Hanazono instead.

I did not get the im...
I did not get the impression that the service was worthy of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve name. There were many inexperienced staff members (I think summer is the off-season for this hotel), and it felt like they were in training for the main winter season.
