[Opening November 5, 2024] Hotel Utano Kyoto Bessho is located just a short drive from Kyoto’s top sights, including Arashiyama and the UNESCO World Heritage sites Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, and Ninna-ji, as well as the Kinukake-no-Michi walking route. With only 10 guestrooms, every room features a private Onsen bath. Choose from the Narutaki Main Building showcasing classic Shoin-zukuri and Sukiya-style design, an Art Deco–inspired Western-style building, or guestrooms that blend Japanese warmth with contemporary Western design.\n\nDine while overlooking the Japanese garden, where we serve a diverse selection of dishes centered on Japanese cuisine yet not limited to any single category—featuring seafood from Awaji Island (known as Miketsukuni) along with carefully selected ingredients from Kyoto and surrounding regions.\n\nEnjoy a spacious setting of approximately 1,000 tsubo (about 3,300 m²) and a Japanese garden recreated in the style designed and supervised by renowned landscape designer Mirei Shigemori. A fully renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse (Kyo-machiya) located just one station away from Kyoto Station, available as an entire Property for one group per day. The first floor features a spacious and open living area with a modern Japanese-style garden view and a sofa bed. The second floor showcases traditional wooden beams characteristic of a machiya, along with three beds. This machiya exudes warmth with its wooden elements and skylight, creating a bright and open atmosphere. The kitchen, equipped with an IH stove, and the bathroom have been newly updated for ease of use. Perfect for couples, families, or a romantic getaway.

- "Time is a traveler passing through the ages, and the years that come and go are also travelers." - Tsukihi no Ie, named after a passage from Matsuo Basho's "The Narrow Road to the Deep North," is a machiya townhouse perfectly suited for savoring the essence of time. Inside this historic machiya, you'll find a multi-layered space that defies expectations from its exterior. Starting with a semi-basement level that was originally an air-raid shelter, the layers seamlessly connect through the doma (earthen floor), a living room facing the garden, the first floor, a mezzanine, and the second floor. Each level offers a unique space to relax and spend your time in your own way.

7 minutes by car from Kyoto Station. 5 minutes on foot to Kyoto Aquarium. The surrounding area is a treasure trove of landmarks related to the Shinsengumi, such as Toji, Mibudera, Nishi Honganji, and Shimabara Omon. The Wakaichijinja Shrine, associated with Taira no Kiyomori, the deity of success and fortune, is also a 13-minute walk away. There are 4 Japanese-style Rooms, making it suitable for two families. The Shigaraki ceramic bath set beyond the courtyard is full of the unique charm of a Kyoto townhouse. This rare townhouse also allows pets.
