An auberge nestled in the forest at the foot of the Hira Mountains, close to Lake Biwa. With the themes of “the luxury of doing nothing” and “a secluded Accommodation,” we serve satoyama Italian cuisine born from fresh lake seafood and the rich bounty of the mountains. Set on a 500-tsubo property, we welcome only six parties per day. Each room is spacious and distinctive, created for moments of quiet serenity. In 2023, young chef Takuro Ishizuka—born and raised here at the foot of the Hira Mountains—joined us. Drawing on his experience discovering exceptional ingredients across Japan and blending them with Japanese cuisine and Mediterranean influences, he is now bringing his expression to Shiga.
Nestled in the majestic natural surroundings of Lake Biwa and the Hira Mountains, "The Grand Resort Omi-Maiko" offers a perfect location to experience the changing seasons—cherry blossoms in spring, lake activities in summer, autumn foliage, and snowy landscapes in winter. Savor exquisite kaiseki cuisine featuring seasonal delicacies such as Omi beef steak or shabu-shabu, along with ayu fish, hamo eel, and matsutake mushrooms. Relax your travel-weary body in our large public bath with an open-air onsen and sauna. Afterward, enjoy a serene evening surrounded by breathtaking views of sunsets and starry skies while staying at our pet-friendly villas. Cherish unforgettable moments with your loved ones to your heart's content.
