Opened on September 2, 2007. Named “Masuichi Kyakuden” from the owner’s wish: “We would have loved to welcome you into our own home…”. Designed by architect John Morford—who also designed “Kurabu” and the main store of Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery—this Accommodation is his vision of where he would want to stay when visiting Obuse. Centered around three earthen storehouses relocated from a long-established sugar wholesaler in Nagano, it comprises seven wooden buildings, with interiors fully furnished in Western style.

The Japanese garden with only 6 properties offers a relaxing space illuminated by over 100 soft lamps. All guests are gifted 30 minutes of free private bath use, ensuring a private stay. Enjoy the Yudanaka Onsen, which opened approximately 1350 years ago. Meals feature colorful kaiseki cuisine centered on seasonal ingredients from Shinshu, with Shinshu brand beef raised on apples as the main dish.

As an annex of the historic "Shinshu Yudanaka Onsen Yorozuya," which has been welcoming guests since the Edo Kansei era, this new accommodation will be reborn on March 1, 2024. The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado is located in the historic Yudanaka Onsen area of Nagano Prefecture, with a history of approximately 1,350 years. Our accommodation is a proud onsen ryokan featuring 100% natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source and stunning views. Relax and unwind while enjoying the onsen loved by enthusiasts and the scenic mountains of Shinshu. Guests staying with us can enjoy free access to three public baths in Yudanaka Onsen nearby. Additionally, our rooftop offers a private open-air bath surrounded by mountains, available for 40 minutes at 2,000 yen. A short drive will take you to Shibu Onsen or Shiga Kogen, and during summer months, Kusatsu Onsen is about an 80-minute drive away—making this area perfect for onsen lovers. A Tyrolean-style pension nestled in the forest of the pension village adjacent to Madarao Kogen Ski Resort. Known for the warm hospitality of its kind female owner and the highly praised homemade dishes made with seasonal local ingredients. Popular among seniors and families, it also attracts many international guests, creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere. It serves as the office for "Madarao Jazz," and jazz concerts are held at the pension in November and March. The area is bustling with skiers and hikers exploring the Shinetsu Trail.
