Inishie no Toki Onsen. With over 600 years of tradition, the renowned hot spring flowing from the mountains of Hanamaki, the legendary Shirozaru Onsen, a time of relaxation, exquisite cuisine, and the spirit of hospitality passed down since its opening, a new story begins.

Dai Onsen in Hanamaki—home of Kenji Miyazawa—is an Onsen village with a 1,200-year history, where more than a dozen natural springs bubble up.Nestled midway through Dai Onsen is “Yamayuri no Yado,” a small Accommodation with just 14 Rooms.Our owner is a chef.Captivated by Iwate’s local ingredients, he personally selects wild mountain vegetables and produce nurtured by this land, river fish, and seafood from the Sanriku coast—carefully sourcing each item with his own eyes—and serves every dish handmade to our guests.Our natural dashi is drawn with great care, using several times the usual amount of bonito flakes and Hidaka kelp without hesitation.Seasonal ingredients are slowly grilled over charcoal in the irori hearth.We cherish cuisine that can never be replicated through mass cooking—dishes possible only because we are a small Accommodation.Step through the large wooden gate and you’ll find the entrance noren swaying in the breeze, guiding you into a quiet retreat.After arrival, enjoy a cup of tea while listening to the sounds of the season.A clear stream runs alongside Yamayuri no Yado, pure and transparent as it nurtures countless forms of life.In early spring as the snow melts, its babbling brightens and birdsong echoes through the mountains.As cherry blossoms fade, delicate wildflowers bloom; in early summer, the beautiful calls of kajika frogs resonate through the valley. <Seiryukan: A Hidden Retreat for a Quiet and Sophisticated Stay, Created as an Annex to Yukaen at Yamanokami Onsen> All 20 guest rooms are equipped with a semi-open-air bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source and a terrace. Enjoy your own special moments in a spacious and relaxing environment. The Onsen features a simple alkaline hot spring with a high pH value, offering a smooth and silky texture. At "Seiryukan," you can exclusively enjoy this Onsen in the privacy of your own room. Guests staying with us also have access to the Onsen facilities at "Yukaen" and "Nagomi no Yu," located within the premises. Indulge in a luxurious adult getaway at our Property.

A keyaki-wood Onsen Ryokan—beloved by Kenji Miyazawa and Torahiko Tamiya—crafted entirely from zelkova, a style that can no longer be recreated today. The historic Namari Onsen, first opened around 600 years ago, offers exceptionally high-quality waters recognized by selections such as “New Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” “Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” and “Japan’s Onsen Heritage.” Unusually even among well-known hot spring areas, the property has five source springs, and all four baths on site are luxurious 100% free-flowing natural spring water (kakenagashi). It is also known as “Namari-no-Yu,” featured in Kenji Miyazawa’s masterpiece *The Bears of Nametoko Mountain*, making this a special Accommodation where the story’s world and a historic Onsen come together. In 2025, the main building—of outstanding historical value—was designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture as well. In particular, we highly recommend the 100% natural self-springing rock bath “Hakuen-no-Yu,” said to be Japan’s deepest—a superb bath that warms you through to your core.
