Lake Toya Onsen × Highly rated Hotel·Ryokan

This was our second stay. Our whole family loved it last time, so we made a Reservation again without hesitation. The dining here is outstanding—although it’s a buffet, everything looked so good that we wanted to try it all, and every dish was delicious. The Room and the baths were also great, and the nighttime fireworks were beautiful and truly impressive. We’d love to stay again!

Because we decided on our trip to Lake Toya at the last minute, I didn’t think we would be able to make a Reservation at a good Hotel. Since May is one of the peak seasons for travel in Japan, I wasn’t expecting much. But after staying there, the Hotel quality exceeded my expectations. I especially loved the dinner buffet. There was an incredible variety of dishes, and many were far better than I anticipated. I ate too much and ended up walking outside for hours afterward to feel better (laugh). Breakfast was more standard compared with dinner, but still very satisfying. As for the Onsen, “Hoshi no Yu” was truly outstanding—I highly recommend trying it at least once. Waking up early to use it was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it. The feeling of seeing Mt. Yotei from the Onsen in the morning is hard to put into words. It was truly spectacular.

Thank you for accommodating us on short notice for my father’s celebration. He was truly moved. He also really enjoyed the Hotel breakfast and said he would come again on his own next time. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories at the end of our trip. We look forward to staying with you again.

The front desk staff welcomed us with exceptional kindness. The Room was spacious and spotless, with a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Toya. In the private open-air bath, we could soak in the Onsen while fully enjoying the spectacular scenery of Lake Toya. The open-air bath in the large public bath on the top floor was at the perfect temperature—never too hot—so we could relax without having to step out repeatedly. Looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity bath, we felt completely refreshed in both body and mind; it was truly outstanding. The dining was also excellent. The dinner buffet featured an abundant selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi, including scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp. There were also hot dishes such as grilled crab legs and steak—all you can eat. Breakfast offered a wide variety of seafood as well, including raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, and our whole family was thoroughly satisfied with the meals at “Kohan no Sumika.” I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Ryokan so far, but “Kohan no Sumika” is one of the few Hotels that I can say I absolutely want to return to. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff, our family enjoyed an unforgettable and perfect stay. Thank you very much. 2. Business Courtesy Version (more formal and polite tone) This is a flawless Onsen Resort Hotel. I stayed at “Kohan no Sumika” on August 30. The front desk service was extremely courteous, and the Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well maintained. From the guest Room we could enjoy sweeping views of Lake Toya, and in the private open-air bath we were able to savor both the Onsen experience and the beautiful scenery of Lake Toya to our heart’s content. The top-floor open-air bath had a wonderfully comfortable temperature that allowed for a long soak without overheating. Relaxing while looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity Onsen made for an exceptionally luxurious moment of calm. Dinner was highly satisfying: along with plentiful fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi—such as scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp—there were also all-you-can-eat options like grilled crab and steak. Breakfast likewise included seafood such as raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, leaving our entire family very pleased with its quality. Although I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Hotels to date, “Kohan no Sumika” is one of those rare outstanding Accommodations that I would very much like to visit again. Our three-generation family had a wonderful time together. The kids really enjoyed the pool, fireworks, and the arcade. The newly renovated Onsen was also beautiful and brought back nostalgic memories from my own childhood.

The Accommodation is a bit old, but the hot water is great, and above all, the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone was kind, and it was a warm and welcoming Accommodation.

I was looking for a Hotel around Lake Toya where I could stay with my dog, and chose this Hotel— it was truly an outstanding experience. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptionally delicious, and I was completely satisfied. The facilities were clean and modern, and all the staff were wonderful. The only thing I noticed was that although you should be able to enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Toya from the bath, the outside view was blocked for privacy reasons. That part was a little disappointing. Other than that, everything was perfect, and we had a very comfortable stay with our dog. I would love to visit again!

Heartwarming, attentive hospitality. The building is old, but the bath is very clean and uniquely designed. A nostalgic Room full of charm. The food could be improved a bit to make it perfect, but the price is reasonable and I’d like to visit again.

I stayed for one night in early September. It’s close to Jigokudani, and the Onsen was simply wonderful. There are many types of Onsen baths, and I really enjoyed them. We had the dinner and breakfast buffet, and I honestly wondered if it was really okay to have all-you-can-eat crab like this. The Japanese- and Western-style buffet was impressive, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you very much.

I chose Taki no Ie to enjoy a slightly luxurious stay at Noboribetsu Onsen on the last day of my trip. After being shown to the entrance, you take off your shoes before stepping inside. Check-in is done while enjoying matcha in a sofa seating area, and all the corridors leading to the Room are covered with tatami mats. It was a pleasure to feel tatami again after so long. The view from the Room was calming, with plenty of greenery. I would have loved to see the garden, but since we were on the 4th floor, that wasn’t really possible. We enjoyed our meals while looking out over the garden, which was wonderful. It was also my first time having a gentleman—like a sommelier—assist us throughout our stay as our in-room attendant.

Close to the station and convenient. Recently, trains in Hokkaido often stop. One of the closest to the station, with clean Rooms. Highly recommended.

I was unfamiliar with the area and needed a place to stay at short notice, but I made a Reservation because I felt I could trust a Kyoritsu Group Hotel. It turned out to be absolutely the right choice! The staff member who answered my inquiry call was very courteous, and the front desk staff were kind and helpful—everyone working at the Hotel was attentive, which made me feel truly welcome. I enjoyed the late-night soba, relaxed in the large public bath to soothe my fatigue, and loved the local breakfast. The jelly and water in the refrigerator were also a nice touch. The bed was just the right firmness, and I slept soundly. Thanks to you, it was a very comfortable stay. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Although we stayed for only one night, both the large public bath and the open-air bath in our Room were excellent. In particular, the open-air bath at the large public bath was very relaxing. What impressed us most about the bath in our Room was that Onsen water was continuously added little by little, keeping it at a comfortable temperature at all times.

We stayed at this Accommodation after several days of hiking. The building feels a bit old, but it is in a quiet location, the Room was clean, and the amenities were well stocked. The baths were especially nice, with multiple tubs and soft, pleasant water. Dinner was generous, and with rice we were completely full. If possible, it would be nice to have explanations of the dishes or a menu. It’s an Accommodation we would like to stay at again.

Eight of us stayed as a family in a standard Japanese-Western Room and a Japanese-Western Room with a private Onsen and sauna. The Rooms were very spacious, and even my parent with physical difficulties said the in-room Onsen and sauna were wonderful. As for the meals, I initially wondered if there would be enough, but the taste, quality, and portion size were all very satisfying. However, at the large public bath, some foreign guests were swimming in the tub and washing their faces there, and in the changing area they were using their smartphones pointed in our direction, which made me very uncomfortable (I don’t know whether they were taking photos). This is not the Hotel’s fault, but I would appreciate it if staff could make regular rounds to check and provide guidance. Even so, everyone in our family was very happy with our stay. We would definitely like to visit again.

This was our second stay, as we stayed here last year as well. We loved the all-you-can-eat crab, so we came back again this year!! All the other food was also delicious, and I ended up having plenty of salmon roe even more than crab! The bath was wonderfully quiet when we went in early. I’m sure we’ll be back again next year.

The Onsen offers a wide variety of spring qualities, and whether in the dome-shaped Roman-style large public bath or the open-air bath, it feels wonderfully spacious and warmed us through to the core. The meals featured an excellent selection of seasonal Hokkaido flavors and were delicious, and the Room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The staff were kind and attentive as well—an Accommodation we would gladly return to when visiting Noboribetsu again.

Everything was excellent—the service, the Onsen, and the food. Thank you very much.

I was supposed to bring the Room towels to the Onsen, but a staff member who happened to be checking the water kindly brought me towels, so I could relax in the hot water and feel refreshed. The dinner was also delicious.
