Perched on a hill in Yuhigaura Onsen, this adults-only Accommodation offers 18 rooms total, with just three rooms per floor. At the top-floor guest-only “Lounge Terrace AO,” enjoy an elegant moment gazing out at the sea and sunset. Facing the Sea of Japan, Tango–Kumihama is a scenic area where many beautiful landscapes remain. A legend has been passed down here. In the Kamakura period, the monk Ippen traveled across The whole country to save people, distributing nembutsu talismans and performing dancing nembutsu. After finishing his preaching in Kyoto and heading toward San’in, he was chanting the nembutsu in Kumihama when clouds suddenly gathered and a blue dragon appeared over the sea. Dragon worship has long been practiced in this region, and it is said that the blue dragon revealed itself before Ippen to form a bond with the nembutsu. Even today, the Sea of Japan as seen from Kumihama retains an air of mystery. Like Ippen once did, you can be embraced by this scenery and find rest here.

In 2023, we opened new detached special suites featuring a private sauna and an open-air bath. In summer 2025, our main-building Japanese-Western rooms will also be renovated. With open-air baths at the main-building large public bath, a panoramic bath on the top floor of the West Wing, and 28 rooms (out of 44) offering in-room open-air baths—plus 6 ocean-view guest rooms with Onsen baths—you can fully enjoy private bathing. Skilled in traditional ink-line marking, Heikichi was known locally as “Sumiya no Hei-san” (“Hei from the ink shop”). From this nickname came the house name Tanpei, later renamed “Tanpei,” and it has since been operated as the oldest Accommodation in Tango Town to this day. The spirit of hospitality of “Sumiya no Hei-san” has been passed down through six generations and continues today.

Nestled in a small village by the sea on the Tango Peninsula, the Property "Goheiji" is an accommodation consisting of an 80-year-old main house and a storehouse over 140 years old. Originally belonging to a distinguished family lineage dating back to the Edo period, the main house features a lattice ceiling arranged in a grid pattern that catches the eye when you look up. Its sheer beauty was love at first sight, and while it was initially intended to be a residence, the desire to share the charm of traditional Japanese houses with more people led to its current style as a one-group-per-day Property.

About a 2.5-hour drive from central Osaka and Kyoto, Lake Hanareko—the largest freshwater lake in Kyoto Prefecture—lies in the Tango area, where beautiful, unspoiled scenery still remains. Jukaitei is a small Accommodation limited to 8 groups per day, perched on a hill in Taiza, a fishing town in Tango. Watch the large sun quietly and slowly sink into the endlessly stretching horizon.
