It had switched to the early-summer menu. Even when I’m worn out from work and forget the sense of the season, staying at Sunset Susami always lets me head home feeling a little more refreshed. The creative dishes made with fresh, seasonal local ingredients are wonderful, and the Onsen—with different temperatures depending on where you bathe—is always excellent. The building is always kept spotless whenever I visit, and even when staff change over, they carefully clean tables after meals. One of this Accommodation’s charms is how strongly you can feel the staff’s sincerity. The special dessert introduced this time—the Inazumi Roll made by a front desk staff member—was truly delicious. The sponge was moist, and it paired perfectly with coffee. (As expected from a former Dojima Roll pastry chef—it really is on another level.) That’s given me yet another reason to stay at Sunset Susami. I love that I can always relax here (lol).

This was our first stay! Just as the Reviews said, it was a very dog-friendly Accommodation. I accidentally left a large piece of luggage at check-out, but even though it was during a holiday period, they responded quickly and mailed it to me, which was a huge help. We only had breakfast this time, but it was delicious. Next time, I’d like to book dinner as well. It’s an Accommodation that’s kind to both dogs and guests, and we had a wonderful holiday trip. I fell ill and had to ask my brother’s family to go in my place. My nephew loves rice, and I have never seen him eat bread. However, dinner was bread-based, so they assumed he wouldn’t eat much. Instead, they said everything—the dishes and the bread—was delicious, and the three of them finished a meal meant for four. They also told me breakfast was truly wonderful. My brother and his wife, who are constantly worried about their son, said they had a very comfortable Hotel stay thanks to the excellent care from all the staff. Thank you very much for your kindness. Thank you as well for the get-well gift for me. June is both my birthday month and your Hotel’s celebration month, so I was disappointed that I couldn’t visit myself. I hope to visit again soon.

This is a compact Accommodation. While the building has some age, it is kept very clean, and its compact size makes it easy to access the baths and dining area, making for a very comfortable stay. Our Room was on the first floor, but the view was outstanding—true to the Accommodation’s name, it was a spectacular panorama! The baths were my favorite type—an alkaline spring with a silky feel—and the view from the open-air bath was also breathtaking. For dinner we chose the “Bliss Course,” and that was absolutely the right choice: a wonderful meal packed with Sendai’s flavors. The Sendai Kuroge Wagyu beef grilled on magnolia leaves was tender and generous in portion, and the miso seasoning was exceptional. The beef tongue was also thick and tender; we had planned to eat beef tongue again the next day, but dinner left us completely satisfied, so our whole family agreed we didn’t need to—and we were able to keep our expenses down as well. The seafood and sashimi were delicious too; even the scallops were thick, and everything we tried was satisfying. Breakfast also included hot pot dishes and sashimi—almost like a light version of an inn-style dinner—and we left completely full. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

We stayed for one night during extreme heat. The Hotel was very clean, and we were completely satisfied with the Room facilities. The staff’s service was flawless, making our stay extremely satisfying. There doesn’t seem to be much nearby for walking and exploring, but the Hotel itself has a pool for dogs and a slightly small dog run, so it seems like there’s plenty to enjoy in summer. The food was delicious, and service was quick—we never had to wait after ordering drinks. I even had seconds of rice! If I had to mention one thing, travel might be faster if there were more expressways or toll roads—though that’s separate from evaluating the Hotel. We’d like to stay again.

I truly enjoyed the rare culinary experience—game meat, river fish, a variety of homemade dishes, herbal liqueurs, and more—things you simply can’t taste at home. The unpretentious, rustic atmosphere was also wonderful. I even bought some of the incredibly delicious rice as a souvenir, and I’m still savoring the memories after returning home.

We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights starting on August 8. The spacious Japanese-style Room allowed us to relax and unwind. The open-air bath in the Room also offered a wonderful sense of openness with an ocean view, and we enjoyed it very much. As the property prides itself on its cuisine, we were highly satisfied on both days. What especially pleased us was that there were no overlapping dishes at either dinner or breakfast. We expected some minor changes, but you prepared almost entirely different menus for us. We also requested cleaning on the second day, and when we returned from going out, the Room had been cleaned beautifully, which felt great. Next time, we would like to return and stay in a Japanese-Western style Room.

I stayed again for two nights, just like last time, after a six-month break. As before, everything was flawless, including the room and the Onsen. The hospitality was especially outstanding, and as someone in the service industry, I learned a lot. Thank you for three memorable days.

All the staff were incredibly kind and warm. They responded quickly when I wasn’t feeling well, and thanks to that I was able to enjoy my trip without changing any of my plans. My first enzyme bath also helped relieve my fatigue. If it were closer, I’d feel like coming even once a month. The French restaurant was outstanding—the fish and vegetables were fresh and delicious. The wine pairing was perfect, and we enjoyed it very much. For breakfast we chose the Japanese set, and the kenchin-jiru soup—something I hadn’t had in a long time—was excellent. There was a wide variety of dishes, all delicious. The Room was comfortable as well, and we were satisfied with everything—we would definitely like to visit again. I have been staying here for some time, and recently I always stay for three nights. Each time, the property is quiet and thoroughly cleaned throughout. The wonderful, delicious meals were excellent, and both the open-air bath and the large public bath were spotless. The background music was also pleasant. The Room has two rooms with a veranda, and it was the perfect size for just my spouse and me. The staff’s service was also good.

At my family’s request, we wanted to stay in Onomichi, so we asked in advance for a birthday cake for our child. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you very much. The cake had a gentle flavor, and the staff came to celebrate with us, creating a warm atmosphere. The view from the Room was amazing, and the meals featured local ingredients—we enjoyed plenty of fresh seafood. Although the weather was often rainy, they advised us on how to walk around the area while watching the weather and provided guidance on nearby stations, so we were able to visit most of the places we wanted to see.
