I’ve stayed at other Dormy Inn Hotels several times on business trips, and everything—cleanliness, the Onsen, and the meals—has always been excellent. This time we visited for a family trip, and my wife and child were thrilled. It made our trip truly enjoyable, and we’d love to stay again!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama: To stay at Kuroshio Sou. When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was. It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish. Fishermen. Farmers. Brewers. Roasters. And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values. Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character. I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well. I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible. Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff— together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。 As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply: True hospitality is not just serving delicious food; it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。 I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。 Thank you again from my heart.

I’ve stayed at quite a few Hotels and Ryokans across the whole country, and this place was truly excellent—service, Facilities, and the Room were all outstanding! They handled a last-minute surprise request flexibly, which I really appreciated. As for the meals, everything served was delicious. That said, I would have liked to see a few more luxurious options. 5 stars!

This time, since I wanted an Onsen close to Yonago Airport, I chose Kaike Onsen. I was satisfied with the Room, the Onsen, and the meals. However, upon arrival: There was only one person at the front desk, and no one came to greet me at the entrance. (For some reason, when I left they saw me off the whole time?) I stopped in front of the entrance to unload my luggage, then parked my car on my own in a distant parking lot. When I entered, they were assisting the previous guest and didn’t say “Welcome” or even “Please wait,” which made me feel like I wasn’t being welcomed. Because the Reviews were highly rated, I had wanted to visit for a long time. When I actually stayed, it was exactly as the Reviews said, and I felt truly relaxed. The iron-rich Onsen was wonderful, and the Room was very clean; throughout the property I could also sense the owner’s thoughtful touches, which made my stay extremely comfortable. I also appreciated the staff’s respectful sense of distance—it really helped someone like me who tends to get nervous. The meals were outstanding; I’ve never had fish this fresh before, and the meat was also incredibly delicious—I was genuinely impressed! The meals, the Room, the service—and of course the Onsen—everything is perfect! This is an Accommodation that makes you think, “I want to come back,” every time you visit. We were completely satisfied with everything: savoring elaborate kaiseki cuisine at a relaxed pace in a private dining room, the private gazebo, and the hospitality in the lounge. Thank you to all the staff for your thoughtful attention to detail. It rained on our arrival day, but even the rainy sea felt beautiful. This is a small Hotel right in front of Lake Chuzenji, and we had a wonderful trip thanks to the thoughtful hospitality of all the staff. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, and we truly enjoyed them. My elderly mother was also very pleased. This is a highly recommended Hotel, and we would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

On this trip, we made a Reservation for three twin Rooms for three groups: my son and his wife with their infant, another family, and my third son. The in-room bath was a little small, but it was separate from the toilet, which made it easy to bathe our infant safely in the Room. The view of the sea in Beppu from the Room was also very beautiful. The Onsen was not too hot and felt great. The shower had a ReFa shower head. There was a wide variety of food, and my younger son and daughters-in-law were very satisfied. The staff kindly spoke to my eldest son’s child (who is still only two) and even lent us some toys. They also lent my other daughter-in-law, who was holding an infant, a basket-like baby bed so the baby could lie down, which made her very happy. Thank you to the lounge staff. I was also surprised that guests go barefoot throughout the Hotel—there were no slippers at all. It was very relaxing, and even our toddler felt safe walking around as if we were at home. We were extremely satisfied and would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

It was a very satisfying trip to Shirahama. This Accommodation is in an excellent location, close to Shirarahama Beach. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, and we were very satisfied. We love Onsen, so we were happy with the large public bath here. The food was delicious as well. All the staff were attentive and helpful—thank you very much. It was an Accommodation that exceeded its price. We were also blessed with good weather and could relax at our leisure. It’s an Accommodation that makes us want to come again.

I truly enjoyed the rare culinary experience—game meat, river fish, a variety of homemade dishes, herbal liqueurs, and more—things you simply can’t taste at home. The unpretentious, rustic atmosphere was also wonderful. I even bought some of the incredibly delicious rice as a souvenir, and I’m still savoring the memories after returning home.

The wine pairing was also exceptional—each time we paired a sip of wine after a bite, both were elevated, and we were repeatedly moved by how much the flavors opened up. In addition, all staff provided warm and attentive hospitality from start to finish, allowing us to spend a comfortable and luxurious time. Thank you very much for an unforgettable experience.

This was my first time staying here. An all-inclusive Hotel. There was a great variety of food and drinks in the lounge, and the dashi broth and burgers were especially delicious. The lounge on the upper floor had a calm atmosphere and was very nice. The bath, footbath, and buffet meals were all great. The tea ceremony experience, table tennis, board games, and video games were fun. If the weather had been better, I would have liked to play tennis. The whole-orange juice was delicious. Mt. Fuji after the typhoon passed was a spectacular view. We stayed for two nights and would like to stay again.

My daughter and her family had a wonderful stay. It was a birthday celebration trip, and they were delighted that the meals were truly delicious. They were especially touched that the proprietress came to greet them in person at dinner. Even with small children, they were able to relax and enjoy the Onsen in their Room, and they seemed completely satisfied with everything. Next time, I would love to visit with them.
