The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." "Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto" is a Ryokan with a history dating back to the early Edo period, now run by its 20th generation. It is the closest accommodation to Itsukushima Shrine and the oldest accommodation in Miyajima, welcoming numerous guests over the years.In 1974, it opened a new annex on an elevated location behind the shrine, moving from its original site along Ari-no-Ura beach. The third-generation owner of Arai Ryokan had close relationships with literary and artistic figures, leading to the creation of numerous works of Japanese painting and literature at Arai Ryokan. Yoshikawa was established as a culinary Ryokan after World War II, located near the Kyoto Imperial Palace in the heart of Rakuchu. The garden, known as "Taikyoen," is said to have been designed by Enshu Kobori and retains some features from the Edo period.
