"Tobira," an intriguing name that evokes mystery, brings to mind phrases like "The Door of Truth" or "The Door of Beauty." Nestled in the untouched embrace of mountains and the Usukawa Valley, Tobira Onsen lies beyond Tobira Pass, as if hiding life's happiness. Located southeast of Matsumoto City, it sits at an elevation of approximately 1,050 meters. In spring, vibrant red azaleas bloom amidst lush greenery, reflecting the simplicity and sincerity of human nature.During summer, visitors seeking cool retreats or hiking adventures to Utsukushigahara and Mount Hachibuse bring a lively atmosphere to the tranquil valley. Yet even then, quiet rooms with refreshing breezes attract those who come for peaceful reading.Autumn transforms the mountains into a fiery display of crimson leaves—an enchanting scene reminiscent of Bonnard's paintings. I also cherish winter in Tobira. Resting by a kotatsu after reading for hours while listening to the gentle sound of mountain streams creates moments where distant murmurs or songs seem almost real—a delightful illusion.Though I do not drink alcohol myself, I imagine that sharing sake with close friends around a kotatsu during winter at Tobira Onsen must be extraordinary. Tobira is a haven for hardworking individuals and their families—a place for warmth and joyful gatherings. It remains untouched by those who view Onsen merely as places for indulgence without deeper appreciation.
Oyama, the inner retreat of Tenryo Hita, is a scenic area blessed with the Hibiki Valley and plum blossoms. We named this place “Okuhita Onsen” and our inn “Umehibiki.”In this land where plums have long been cherished and carefully cultivated, we celebrate their blossoms, craft umeshu (plum wine) and umeboshi (pickled plums) from their fruit, and strive to create wholesome, beautiful cuisine and spaces—aiming to be an inn worthy of being called a “plum-themed hot spring retreat.”Inspired by the dignified yet charming plum, we stand tall as we welcome you.
A small Onsen area surrounded by mountains, Yoshina Onsen. A "Japanese-style resort" with guest rooms, dining facilities, and Onsen scattered across a 36,000-tsubo site along the clear stream Yoshinagawa flowing through the premises.

Stroll through our two gardens and enjoy seasonal flowers and dappled sunlight—unwind your mind while giving your body a pleasant sense of exertion. Revitalize your skin, hair, and spirit with the renowned Okunetsukawa hot spring waters flowing directly from our private source, along with our in-house bath amenities “Yumoribito.” Savor carefully selected Izu seafood and the region’s distinctive mountain vegetables grown across its varied elevations. Enjoy gastronomic cuisine that delights both eye and palate, bringing energy to body and soul. As the journey lingers in memory, so does a sense of beauty in both mind and body. We invite you to experience it for yourself.

Yanagawa is a beautiful water city where 930 km of canals, unchanged since the Edo period, spread throughout the town and boats glide by. The Tachibana family has long stood alongside Yanagawa’s history. During the Edo period, Ohana began as a villa of the Tachibana family, lords of the Yanagawa Domain. From the Western-style building constructed in the Meiji era as an authentic guesthouse, you pass through to a grand 100-tatami hall—beyond which lies a magnificent garden composed solely of pine trees. With the renewal of our accommodation wing, we are being reborn as a space where you can more fully enjoy the appeal of cultural properties still preserved by descendants of this former daimyo family. Making use of our distinction as Japan’s only nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty where you can stay—a Ryokan with dining—we offer activities and moments that let you feel the history and stories of the daimyo family (the Tachibana family).
