We stayed for one night in Yayoi in July with our dog as a couple. We’ve stayed at many dog-friendly Accommodations, and this is the best one for us. I especially love sulfur Onsen, and while other dog-friendly Accommodations we’ve stayed at had Onsen, none had sulfur springs. Here, there is also a free-flowing natural hot spring bath in the Room, so we didn’t have to leave our dog waiting to go to a public bath. Even though many places don’t allow dogs in the bathroom area, this Accommodation provided a dog bathtub, shampoo, and towels—I've never stayed anywhere so thoughtful. Our senior large dog kept coming to watch us enjoy the Onsen with curiosity. Just walking through the spilled water from the free-flowing sulfur spring at the washing area turned his rough, cracked paw pads into smooth ones—just like the Reviews said. It’s truly an amazing Onsen. The Imabari bath towel after bathing was fluffy and very comfortable. Since it was a No Meals Included stay, we mainly brought takeout from Nasu restaurants. We also bought Nasu cheese and sausages along with drinks and snacks, and picked up bread and yogurt for breakfast at a nearby shop before heading to the Accommodation. With the best sulfur Onsen, delicious food and drinks from Nasu, a quiet setting, we were able to relax completely. Our dog also seemed very satisfied with the cool highland climate, peaceful greenery-filled surroundings, and private feel without running into other dogs—he looked truly relaxed. All of us were soothed by both nature and the Onsen and went home extremely happy. My husband said he wants to come again in winter too—so we’ll be making another Reservation. We stayed here as a family of four during summer vacation. We chose the No Meals Included plan because we planned to enjoy street food along Dogo Onsen’s Haikara Street, and it turned out to be an outstanding stay: everything was spotless, the Onsen was excellent, the futons were very comfortable, and access to Haikara Street was great. Above all, the staff worked seamlessly as a team and responded quickly and courteously—it was truly impressive. Our whole family agreed we were lucky to find such a wonderful Accommodation. This time we booked No Meals Included, but the Ryokan meals also looked delicious, so next time we’d like to stay with meals included. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely love to visit again. We visited to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. It was a long drive from Yokohama to Nagano, but this was a wonderful Accommodation that truly made us glad we came. The in-room open-air bath was a little hot and needed some adjustment, but it was clean, spacious, and free of insects. The shampoo and conditioner also left our hair smooth and silky. (Some Ryokan at this level still leave your hair feeling rough.) All the staff who welcomed us were smiling, and during dinner the head chef served the main dish right at our table. Everything was delicious—made with local ingredients and carefully prepared with great attention to detail. On our way out, they even opened the souvenir shop in the main building earlier for us, so I was happy to be able to buy the souvenirs I wanted. My parents were very pleased as well, so we would love to visit again while they are still healthy.

I stayed at Hotel Mukaitaki in Tsuchiyu Onsen. What I especially loved this time were the cuisine, the open-air bath in the Room, and the strong sense of privacy. Dinner was carefully prepared dish by dish, and the surf clam shabu-shabu and Fukushima beef were outstanding. The surf clam’s texture and sweetness and the rich flavor of the Fukushima beef were both excellent—these were the most memorable dishes of my stay. Above all, the open-air bath in the Room was amazing. Being able to enjoy the Onsen freely at any time without worrying about others is truly special. Perhaps because there are only a few Rooms, I hardly ran into other guests during my stay. The building was very quiet and felt extremely private. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to relax at an Onsen Accommodation without being concerned about other people. The staff’s thoughtfulness was also wonderful—they escorted me to and from the parking lot at both arrival and departure. They even gave me souvenir rice balls on my way home. It was warm hospitality from start to finish.

Both the meals and the bath were excellent.

For trips with our dog, we always choose the Regina group Hotels for their outstanding staff hospitality. This time, we finally made our first visit to this property, which we’d had our eye on for a while. With just 10 Rooms, it’s a compact Facility where you can complete everything—check-in and check-out, an open-air Onsen bath with excellent water quality, and carefully crafted kaiseki cuisine—all in your Room. The morning soak while enjoying views of the Hakone outer rim mountains from our second-floor Room was simply the best.

I stayed here after relatives in Shonai recommended it as an Accommodation with excellent food, and it exceeded my expectations. From appetizers to dessert, everything was carefully prepared—making the most of the ingredients with creative touches—and the portions were generous. Every dish was delicious, and I left completely satisfied. Breakfast was just as impressive as dinner, with a wide variety of items and great flavor. After the wonderful meal, it was also nice to relax in the Onsen bath in my Room. The staff’s bright smiles were another highlight. I’d love to come back to enjoy seasonal dishes at a different time of year, and also explore the Onsen town and try visiting private baths at other facilities.

I was a bit worried about the impact of the earthquake, but I finally visited Kurokawa Onsen, which I had always wanted to see. It truly felt like an Onsen among Onsens, and I was able to relax and unwind. The meals were also delicious, making it a wonderful stay. I couldn’t help noticing the Kumamon sitting at the front desk, and ended up giving it a hug. I’d love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderfully attentive Accommodation. The food was delicious—above all, the rice was outstanding. The grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the sashimi was fresh and very tasty. I was also very happy with the late-night rice ball and message. Breakfast had a great variety and was exciting as well. Personally, I especially appreciated having rice porridge. It was raining when we left, but thank you for carrying our luggage to the car. You also lent us an umbrella, so we were able to get to the car without getting wet. I forgot something behind, but I can only be grateful for your kind and careful assistance. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you for letting us relax and enjoy our time there.

The Accommodation, the staff, the meals, and the Onsen were all outstanding. The meat and eggs in particular were unforgettable. If I visit Yufuin again, I will definitely stay here!

We were able to stay at Kashiwaya again this year as a family, and we had a truly wonderful time. With only a few Rooms, we hardly ran into other guests even in the baths, so we could quietly enjoy the excellent waters of Bessho Onsen. The meals are gently seasoned and make the most of local ingredients, and no matter when we visit, it’s a mysterious Accommodation where we always sleep soundly at night. We look forward to visiting again.

We visited during Golden Week for a birthday trip. From the warm welcome to the lounge, Room, baths, and meals, everything throughout our stay was wonderful and made it a truly unforgettable trip. The view from the Room was beautiful, and we were able to spend a relaxing, luxurious time. Every dish was genuinely delicious; even though the portions were generous, it was so good that I finished everything for the first time. All of the staff were consistently kind and attentive, which made our entire stay very comfortable. We also went to an outside bath, but it was quite crowded—so much so that we felt completely satisfied with just the Ryokan’s baths. In particular, the in-Room bath had perfect temperature and excellent water quality, and it was incredibly soothing. I’ve been traveling about once every two months for many years, but this is the first Ryokan that truly made me think, “I definitely want to come back.” Next time, I’d love to visit during crab season. This was my second stay. Last time, I stayed during a snowy season, so this time I was able to relax until dinner and fully enjoy the sight of green trees swaying and the gentle calls of evening cicadas from my clean, refined Room. The meals here are delicious both in the morning and in the evening, with plenty of vegetables. Of course, the fish and meat were also excellent—everything was flawless. Above all, the staff’s smiles were wonderful, and their service was attentive and professional, which made me feel truly happy. I will definitely come back to stay again when I have time. This was an Onsen trip with my mother and two daughters. Overall, both my mother and I were very satisfied. The price is not cheap, so it goes without saying that the Facility, amenities, and meals were excellent, but above all, the staff’s attentive service and thoughtful hospitality were outstanding. The bath in our Room was wonderful, and we also enjoyed the large public bath that switches between men and women in the morning and at night. The Onsen is sulfur-rich and warmed us up thoroughly. If we have the chance, this is an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again.

We arrived a little early, kindly left our car, and took a stroll around the area. Right away, we visited Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine next door. In the backstreets of this historic townscape, you can find Onsen springs here and there—perfect for wandering at leisure. Both inside and outside the property felt very clean, showing careful management throughout. The staff’s smiles, service, and conversation were all refined; we truly felt their hospitality and attentiveness, which made our stay very comfortable. From the Room we stayed in—named “Kirishima”—we enjoyed a view of the grove surrounding Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine, full of charm and atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast featured local ingredients, and everything was delicious. We could also sense how dedicated the staff were, which made dining even more enjoyable. Bathing in the panoramic large public bath while looking out over the townscape glowing at dusk was exceptional. The water was a gentle Onsen that seemed to softly cling to the skin. Although it wasn’t in our original plans, we stopped by Harmo Museum about 7–8 minutes away by car after receiving a recommendation as we checked out. Driving along the well-maintained lakeside of Lake Suwa and enjoying wonderful paintings became a great memory for us. It was a truly relaxing Accommodation for adults—wonderful in every way. I stayed here with my mother. The Accommodation was spotless, and the meals were thoughtfully prepared and truly delicious! Above all, the hospitality from everyone at the Accommodation was outstanding. When I come to Yufuin again, it’s not just that I want to stay in Yufuin—I want to visit Yufuin so I can stay at this Accommodation.

The parking lot is less than a 1-minute walk from the Accommodation, but cars can’t be brought right up to the entrance, so the proprietress kindly came to the car to pick up our luggage. For dinner we chose the Shige-no-ya group dining Plan; the hot pot was served with their homemade broth instead of ponzu or other sauces, and it was very delicious. The soba rice porridge served at breakfast was also excellent. However, we booked a room with an open-air bath, but perhaps due to its age, one tile had come off and there were quite a few floating bits like adhesive and dirty debris inside, which was disappointing. There were several spots that lifted when touched as well, so I think they should be repaired before more tiles start coming off. My husband used it and said both the Onsen and the garden were wonderful, but my daughter and I couldn’t use it because it felt unclean, which was unfortunate. All of the staff were easy to talk to, and they spoke to my daughter every time they saw her; everyone was very friendly and it was great.

From the attentive staff and beautifully prepared, delicious cuisine to the spotless Room and two different baths that were both wonderfully relaxing, our stay was satisfying from start to finish. The Japanese sweets provided in the Room were especially delicious—I almost wanted to buy some to take home (they may even be handmade). If I had one small wish, it would be that the lounge drinks included alcohol, which I personally think would have made it even better. The staff’s warm smiles were the best hospitality of all.
