WASUKI BASE Biwako GUEST HOUSE
Shiga Prefecture/Takashima CityA luxurious moment to enjoy nature with Lake Biwa stretching out before you.
Only about a 7-minute walk from JR Makino Station on the JR Kosei Line, and just steps from Lake Biwa—an unbeatable location! Lake-view Accommodations within walking distance of the station are actually quite rare. We recommend our BBQ Plan, where you can enjoy fresh Shiga ingredients on an open, covered terrace. Pets are also welcome, so you can create unforgettable memories with your beloved dog by the nature-rich shores of Lake Biwa. Perfectly located for swimming in the lake, cycling, and sightseeing. Recommended for families and groups, couples, and trips with your dog. Escape the city and enjoy a special stay surrounded by breathtaking Lake Biwa views and abundant nature.
As with last year, a cancellation opened up at the villa cottage again this year, and I’m glad my husband, our toy poodle, and I were able to stay there and relax. We also got to do SUP on Lake Biwa together, which became a wonderful memory. At the Accommodation, the staff even started the fire for our BBQ dinner, so all we had to do was grill—so easy. The meat and vegetables were fresh, and we were completely full. For breakfast, they brought us freshly baked croissants, juice, and dessert—also very convenient. The Room was so comfortable—almost too spacious for just two people. The bathroom is a unit bath, but you can use it anytime.I recommend this cottage. The glamping area they were building last year had been completed near the front as well—it looked really nice.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 7/21/2026Lake Biwa was right in front of us, and the Room was spacious, so we were able to relax and rest well. We would like to stay again.

■Metasequoia Tree-Lined Road “A road you’ll never forget.” Beautiful like a scene from a movie. About 500 metasequoia trees stretch for roughly 2.4 km, revealing a different look each season. Fresh green in spring, deep green in summer, golden hues in autumn, and snow-covered in winter—no matter how many times you visit, the view is unforgettable. ■Shirahige Shrine “Shiga’s oldest shrine, with nearly 2,000 years of history.” The grand torii gate of Shirahige Shrine stands as if floating on the surface of Lake Biwa. At sunrise, the lake glows gold and the scene becomes dreamlike—like the gods have descended upon the water. Known as “Omi’s Itsukushima,” its beauty quietly moves everyone who visits. ■Kaizu-Osaki “When Lake Biwa turns pink.” Kaizu-Osaki in Shiga is an extremely popular spot selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Sites. The contrast between cherry blossoms in full bloom reflected on the lake and the clear blue water is truly breathtaking. Drive through falling petals and you’ll feel as if you’re traveling right through spring itself.
