Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple
A 6-minute walk from RESI STAY Gojosaka. A temple founded by Saint Kuya. The principal image, a standing Eleven-Headed Kannon (Avalokiteshvara) statue, is said to have been carved by Kuya himself in prayer for protection from epidemics. Outstanding Kamakura-period sculptures are preserved here, including statues of Saint Kuya and Taira no Kiyomori.
Rengeo-in (Sanjusangen-do Temple)
A 12-minute walk from RESI STAY Gojozaka. Sanjusangendo is named for the 33 spaces between the pillars in the inner sanctuary of the main hall. Inside, the sight of the principal seated Thousand-Armed Kannon and 1,001 standing Thousand-Armed Kannon statues lined up in rows is truly breathtaking.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple
A 16-minute walk from RESI STAY Gojosaka A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its main hall (a National Treasure) is famous for the “Kiyomizu Stage,” offering sweeping views over Kyoto. In spring, cherry blossoms and in autumn, vibrant foliage create a beautiful landscape where Mt. Otowa’s nature harmonizes with the temple buildings. The three sacred streams of Otowa Waterfall within the grounds are said to bring blessings for academic success, good health, and love.
