It is less than a 10-minute walk to Kiyomizu Temple, making it an excellent location for early morning visits starting at 6 a.m. The breakfast, lovingly prepared by the proprietress, is a highlight, and the staff welcomes you with a heartfelt "Welcome back" and sends you off with a warm "Have a great day," making it feel like returning to a distant relative's home. This is a homely Property where "I'm home!" feels just right.     Located in Higashiyama, Santōan is within walking distance of many of Kyoto’s most iconic sights, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kodai-ji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, and Maruyama Park.

    A “Momiji Crawl” is a leisurely way to explore Higashiyama as the leaves change color—visiting one famous foliage spot after another on foot.

    Enjoy daytime strolls as well as visits to Kyoto’s temples and shrines on crisp autumn evenings—another seasonal highlight.

    As the fall foliage season gets very busy, we recommend making your Reservation early if you are considering an autumn trip to Kyoto.
