  • I absolutely love the Onsen at Kawayu, and among them, the hot spring at Kinkiyu is truly exceptional. Hearing that Kinkiyu will be closing in October, I visited one last time to enjoy the baths. The staff's hospitality was wonderful, and I loved the comforting feeling of being home again. Whenever I returned to my hometown of Kitami, I made sure to stop by. Thank you for everything until now. Wishing you all the best!

  • Beloved Kinkiyu, I heard you are closing in October, and I couldn't resist coming all the way from Tokyo to enjoy your Onsen one last time.Kawayu Onsen has my favorite hot springs in Japan! Among them, Kinkiyu's water is my absolute favorite. Thank you to the warm and welcoming staff—the gentleman at the front desk and the lady in charge of breakfast. The variety of welcome drinks, especially the Japanese sake, was amazing! I looked forward to it every time. The Room and facilities were impeccably clean, including all water areas. Despite being an older building, its nostalgic charm made it feel cozy and relaxing. It truly warmed my heart.I still miss the breakfast buffet that ended a few years ago—it had such a wide variety of local dishes with handmade tamagoyaki that was absolutely delicious. When it stopped, I felt sad; but hearing about this closure is even more heartbreaking.Over the years, both my body and soul have been warmed here countless times. Thank you so much for everything. To all the staff members—thank you for your hard work! This time around, I gave only one star for breakfast because when we arrived at 7:50 AM, rice, curry, scrambled eggs—all were already gone. Only bread, salad, and yakisoba remained. At least having rice would have been nice!

Kawayu's hot spring is renowned for warming you from the core and keeping you warm for a long time.

Kawayu Onsen is a volcanic Onsen with a unique Japanese mineral composition, located at the foot of Mount Io. This highly acidic alum and melanterite Onsen, containing hydrogen sulfide, is one of the rare and medically valuable Onsen in Japan. Its distinctive mineral properties and geographical environment stimulate the body, particularly for those with chronic illnesses, helping to regulate autonomic nervous and hormonal systems, thereby enhancing the body's natural healing abilities. Perfect for relieving daily fatigue, it is available for both overnight stays and day-use bathing.
