[Notice Regarding the Introduction of the Hiroshima Prefecture Accommodation Tax]
Thank you for your continued patronage of SUN HOTEL FUKUYAMA.
With the enforcement of a Hiroshima Prefecture ordinance, an “Accommodation Tax” will be introduced for staying guests from April 1, 2026.
Accordingly, we will collect the Accommodation Tax in addition to the Accommodation Fee as outlined below. We appreciate your understanding.
■ Tax amount and taxable stays
The Accommodation Tax is charged based on the accommodation charge per person per night (excluding tax; room-only).
- Accommodation charge of JPY 6,000 or more: JPY 200
- Accommodation charge under JPY 6,000: Not taxable (JPY 0)
[Examples]
If one guest stays in one room for JPY 10,000: Since the per-person charge is JPY 6,000 or more, JPY 200 will be charged.
If two guests stay in one room for JPY 10,000: Since the per-person charge is JPY 5,000, no Accommodation Tax applies.
*The accommodation charge does not include consumption tax, meal charges (breakfast), parking fees, or other incidental service charges.
■ Guests exempt from taxation
The Accommodation Tax will not be charged in the following cases:
- When the accommodation charge per person per night is under JPY 6,000 (excluding tax).
- When children/pupils/students of schools defined under the School Education Act (excluding universities) stay as part of a school event (e.g., a school trip) and submit the designated “certificate.”
■ Payment method / Receipt
Payment: Please pay at the front desk at check-in.
Accepted payment methods: Cash and credit cards/cashless payments accepted by our property.
For advance payment bookings: Even if you have prepaid your accommodation charges online or otherwise in advance, the Accommodation Tax must be paid separately on-site.
Receipt: We can issue either a Receipt for only the Accommodation Tax or a Receipt showing an itemized breakdown combining it with your accommodation charges.
We apologize for any inconvenience this new tax system may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions regarding this tax system, please feel free to contact us.
