Yuze Gorge, selected as one of the New Akita 30 Scenic Spots, is also certified as a Forest Therapy Road with proven relaxation benefits, attracting guests each year in search of healing. It also offers convenient access to Oyu Stone Circles, part of the UNESCO World Heritage “Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan.”
My husband and I stayed here with my 88-year-old mother. She moved around the property using the rollator walker we brought.She used the handrails to get into the bath, but the steps were quite high for her and getting in and out seemed difficult. Still, she said the water temperature was perfect and even went again in the morning.We enjoyed the meals, but since this is the birthplace of Kiritanpo, there was a Kiritanpo hot pot. As we are from the same prefecture, it would be nice if guests could choose a different hot pot option.It would also be helpful to have a clock in the Room.My mother was very happy, and I would like to bring her again.
This was a Hotel I’m truly glad I stayed at. The front desk staff spoke gently and clearly, which made me feel at ease. Just then, a loud group from overseas came close and startled me, but thanks to the staff’s professional handling, I was able to get to my Room without crossing paths with them or having an unpleasant experience. I had braced myself for a noisy night, but it was quiet and I slept soundly—perhaps because we were in a separate building from the group—and I really appreciated that consideration. Since some Korean guests were on the same floor as us, we even had a chance to chat in the elevator. The staff’s hospitality was warm, the Onsen was excellent, and it’s a Hotel I would definitely like to visit again. In the second photo are magewappa wooden bento boxes used on the ceiling of the breakfast venue—I was truly impressed.

Trick Art: The Mysterious World of Akita Ranga
Twelve trick-art works are on display, incorporating the style of “Akita Ranga,” a painting technique born in the Edo period. Naotake Odano was born in the Edo period as the son of an Akita samurai. Hailing from Kakunodate—known as the “Little Kyoto of Tohoku”—he was inspired by Western paintings and pursued art, developing a distinctive style that introduced unprecedented techniques such as perspective and shading. His skill was so highly regarded that a painting of Buddha he created around age 17 was enshrined at a shrine. It is also said that he taught Western painting to Yoshimichi Satake, lord of the Akita Domain, and he is known as one of the artists who drew illustrations for the famous “Kaitai Shinsho” (New Book of Anatomy).

Yuze Gorge, flowing through the heart of the Yoneshiro River, is one of the “New 30 Scenic Views of Akita.” The Meiji-era poet Takuboku Ishikawa was deeply moved by this place and left the words, “Kazuno, a land far from heaven, encircled by blue-fenced mountains,” praising its ever-changing scenery through the seasons. Yuze Onsen is an alkaline simple hot spring said to help improve skin troubles such as acne, and is also known as a “beauty bath.” In a Japanese-style setting, please enjoy the Onsen and our meals.
