Immerse Yourself in Mino’s Washi Culture! A Hands-On Workshop Making Traditional Mino Washi Goods
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, we will host a Mino Washi craft workshop for Hotel guests, in collaboration with Ishikawa Shigyo Co., Ltd., a Mino Washi goods maker founded in 1902 in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture.
Mino Washi is a traditional craft handed down in Mino City for over 1,300 years.
Among them, “Hon-Minoshi” is highly regarded as premium-quality Japanese paper and has been inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
In this event, you will experience making Mino Washi crafts inside a 270-year-old historic building located in the “Udatsu Townscape.”
Choose one item to make—an Okiagari (self-righting) doll, a pen holder, or a washi plate—and enjoy creating your one-of-a-kind piece with support from Ishikawa Shigyo staff.
After the workshop, you will have free time to explore on your own.
At the “Mino Washi Akari Art Exhibition,” many light-art works made with Mino Washi illuminate the historic streets of the “Udatsu Townscape” in an enchanting glow.
You can also enjoy shopping for Mino Washi goods at Ishikawa Shigyo’s shop.
Take this opportunity to discover the history and culture of Mino Washi and set off on a journey filled with new inspiration and memorable moments.
