Kikuhama, Kyoto: a private whole-house rental limited to one group per day, surrounded by renowned local favorites within walking distance. Spend a few days here and become a regular in the neighborhood.

A newly built, private whole-house Accommodation opened in March 2026 on the banks of the Takase River, just a short distance from Kyoto Station. You can reserve the entire 120 m², two-story 4LDK home exclusively for one group per day. The Accommodation is located in Kikuhama, nestled between the Kamo River and the Takase River. This historic neighborhood once flourished as the Gojo red-light district, and traces of Kyoto’s old geisha quarters remain quietly among streets where everyday life continues. While it offers easy access to major sightseeing spots, excellent local favorites are scattered within walking distance. Start your morning at a small in-house roastery café just 30 seconds away. A 3-minute walk brings you to “Sauna no Umeyu,” a sento heated with firewood—bath tickets are provided as a perk during your stay. In 7 minutes on foot, you’ll find a wine bar open from morning and a renowned handmade soba shop that draws long lines. Simply walking this neighborhood reveals a side of Kyoto you can’t experience through sightseeing alone. Inside, enjoy a living room overlooking the gentle flow of the Takase River, a hinoki bath, and a small courtyard garden. Relax at your own pace while taking in seasonal flowers and greenery throughout the year. There are bedrooms on both the first and second floors, accommodating up to 7 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with an IH cooktop, dishwasher, rice cooker, and more. All beverages are complimentary throughout your stay. The name “Ko” carries our wish that time here will soften even a hardened heart—like turning soil with a hoe—and bring quiet restoration. Please spend several unhurried days at Ko and become part of this neighborhood like a regular.
