Opened in 2024, this small villa with ocean-view rooms and private terraces stands within the wellness garden “Millennial Olive Terrace for your wellness,” symbolized by a thousand-year-old olive tree—an oasis where olive-inspired experiences help restore both body and mind. In 2025, the private meditation sauna villa “tou” will open, followed in 2026 by “Olivair,” featuring a herbal steam sauna and meditation room. Surrounded by the nature of the Setouchi region, enjoy an extraordinary escape in quiet luxury at your “second home,” where you can fully embrace life with olives.
We chose this place because we wanted to travel as a couple before our baby is born. The view from the Room was truly one of a kind and very calming. The service was excellent, and they responded quickly to our requests, which was a great help. The meals were also delicious, and we were very satisfied. Receiving energy from the thousand-year-old olive tree, it was a wonderful trip that refreshed both body and mind. Thank you very much.P.S.: Since it is surrounded by nature, there are various insects, but the staff responded promptly and we were able to stay comfortably!
Ryoharu 7/21/2026It was an incredible location beyond words!The balcony was exceptionally spacious, and we enjoyed both the Warigo bento dinner and the iron-pot rice breakfast out on the balcony. The Warigo bento, prepared by a top-class traditional restaurant, was beautifully crafted dish by dish with gentle flavors—absolutely satisfying.For breakfast, it was simply rice cooked by ourselves in an iron pot, along with tsukudani, olive oil, soy sauce, and salt—but it felt more than luxurious enough. We were told we could take the olive oil made from Shodoshima olives and the soy sauce home, so even after returning home we’ve become hooked on olive-oil-and-soy-sauce rice! This olive oil is truly delicious.Dining while taking in the view from the balcony was time beyond compare.We could also feel the attention to detail in everything—from the amenities to the bowls and soup cups—and even the drinks in the fridge were anything but ordinary.Everywhere we looked there was thoughtful care, all curated with great taste. The sparkling wine we bought at Gate Lounge and the sake made from Shodoshima-grown rice were both truly excellent. We ended up drinking away while looking out at the sea!All of your staff were so warm—we regret not staying sooner!!We will definitely be back.Thank you very much for everything!We truly appreciate it!!

A retreat stay inspired by the vitality of thousand-year-old olive trees. Enjoy a bath with olive aroma salts, nourish your skin with olive oil, and before sleep, listen to a sound meditation captured from the olive plant to ease you into restful slumber. Start your morning with a healthy olive drink. With views of the beautiful Seto Inland Sea, this Accommodation offers a wellness experience found only in this space—helping you restore both body and mind.
Shodoshima Meditation Sauna Villa “tou” is a private, entire-villa rental where you can enjoy a sauna and contrast bathing amid breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea. The building faces the direction of the sunrise over the Seto Inland Sea, and the terrace from the Room is designed to extend out toward the water. The sauna is repurposed from an old soy sauce barrel that was long used in Shodoshima’s soy sauce breweries. With Shodoshima Fuji directly in front of you across the sea, surrender to the sound of the waves and take time to quietly reconnect with yourself on the calm waters of Setouchi.
Before you lies the Seto Inland Sea and its island-dotted horizon; behind you stands a thousand-year-old olive tree. In this landscape—like a meadow floating on the sea—you naturally turn inward. Even when you are with someone, a gentle, personal sense of calm drifts by on the breeze. After spending time in this special place in your own way, try a plant meditation with an audio guide, inspired by the wisdom of olives. With the scenery of Setouchi and the power of olives, your mind and body will gradually settle into ease.
A building created in a circular way using the island’s natural blessings, winner of the 2023 Good Design Award. As the gateway to “Sen-nen Olive Terrace for your wellness,” it serves as a communication space within this wellness Facility, aiming to bring people together through olives and deepen their connections and bonds. We offer audio-guided mindfulness experiences and olive oil tasting workshops, delivering interactive experiences that engage all five senses.

For guests on a Multiple Night Stay, we will provide “Shodoshima nyumen.” |
