Ryokan "Tano-ya" is a century-old townhouse that once operated as a weaving business in Nishijin, Kyoto. The craftsmanship reflecting the spirit of past Kyoto artisans has been inherited and continued by modern artisans, leading to the creation of "Tano-ya".

As you walk along the long stone-paved path and enter the entrance, gentle sunlight streams through the ceiling of the passage garden. The garden, adorned with Kasuga lanterns, is lush with greenery, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The tea room retains a space that embodies the aesthetic philosophy of "wabi-sabi." The craftsmanship and spirit left behind by the skilled artisans of Kyoto have been faithfully carried forward by modern craftsmen, resulting in the creation of Ryokan "Tanoya." We hope to preserve this traditional townhouse together with all of you who spend time here, for many years to come.
There are three Rooms in total. Enjoy a relaxing time in a private space.
At Tanoya, we feature "Salon de Tanoya," offering breakfast, meals, and beverages served with antique tableware.
