A facade with a design not typically found in traditional townhouses suddenly appears amidst the slightly retro streetscape. The Ayame-an was designed by Mr. Uotani, the head of Uotani Shigenori Architectural Institute. Upon opening the entrance, you are greeted by a floor finished with paving tiles. Looking further inside, your gaze extends through the first-floor Japanese-style room and the veranda to the garden beyond. The first-floor Japanese-style room is carpeted yet designed to evoke a sense of traditional Japanese aesthetics. The veranda features glass tiles on the roof, allowing it to serve as a greenhouse-like space in winter, and in summer, the glass sliding doors can be opened to use it as a traditional wooden deck. Additionally, you can enjoy the garden view from the carefully crafted iron bathtub (Goemon-style bath). The first-floor earthen floor, the second-floor wooden floor, and the first-floor veranda are seamlessly connected, offering an open and unique townhouse experience unlike any other.
