Introduction of the Accommodation

Located in Kyoto's Okazaki area, within the grounds of Kurodani Konkaikomyoji Temple, a head temple of Jodo Buddhism with over 460 years of history, lies the sub-temple "Hotaru-dera Konkoin." The guest room has been renovated and will open as "Shukubo Konkoin Hotaru-an" in March 2025. This exclusive accommodation is limited to one group per day, offering a completely private space where you can relax without worrying about others and immerse yourself in an extraordinary experience to heal your body and mind. The garden is yours alone to enjoy. From late May to mid-June, fireflies light up the evenings; cherry blossoms bloom in spring; autumn leaves color the scenery in fall; and at night, the garden is beautifully illuminated. You can spend your time gazing at the serene garden while listening to birdsong or indulge in unique temple experiences such as Buddhist practices or savoring Shojin Ryori (traditional Buddhist vegetarian cuisine). You may also participate in various programs offered or enjoy a luxurious dinner prepared by visiting chefs for an elevated travel experience. Tailor your stay for a truly personalized temple retreat. *During firefly season, there may be special viewings or events allowing general visitors on-site; however, access near your room will remain restricted to ensure privacy.*
