An Accommodation featuring a live kitchen serving freshly prepared dishes and an Onsen where you can enjoy visiting multiple baths

Just a 3-minute walk from Toba Station, this onsen property offers a variety of baths, including private, open-air, and foot baths. At the live kitchen "Shinwa Dining Ten-Chi-Kai," established in August 2014, guests can enjoy hot dishes prepared with grandeur and precision by chefs, such as fish carving shows and teppanyaki.

  • Toba is close by, so it had been a while since I last stayed overnight, but I chose Todaya without hesitation. It was my first stay in decades, and I truly enjoyed Japan’s wonderful spirit of hospitality. What’s more, much of that hospitality came from international staff—their smiles and service were every bit as good as those of Japanese staff. I believe this is thanks to the proprietress’s thorough guidance. The Room was the best one with a great view through an IKYU Plan. From the open-air bath to the stone sauna, it was an all-too-quick one-night stay.

  • At first glance, the exterior honestly felt a bit old, but the interior is very clean and well maintained. Thoughtful touches—like dressing the alcohol bottles in cute kimono outfits—really stood out. The buffet also offered a wide variety of dishes and was very satisfying. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming with warm smiles, which helped us feel truly refreshed.

  • "Takeakari" lights have been illuminated in Todaya Onsen Village.

Bamboo lantern lights have been lit at Todaya Onsen Village.

Along the promenade “Umi no Sawatari,” leading to Todaya Onsen Village, warm bamboo lanterns (“Takeakari”) have been lit.

These lights are made from bamboo nurtured by Mie’s natural climate. Each piece is carefully selected, thoroughly dried, and delicately perforated—handcrafted work that weaves patterns of light and shadow with true artisan spirit.

The gentle glow blends into the onsen-scented air, softly accompanying each passerby’s silhouette and adding a quiet touch of color to the path.

Listen closely and you’ll hear waves in the distance. With the scent of the sea all around, the swaying light wraps your steps—each moment easing your mind a little more.

Even between relaxing soaks, this tranquil scene lit by Takeakari will gently help you unwind.

The same warmth of Takeakari also glows in our buffet venue, Shinwa Dining “Ten・Chi・Kai.” As if guided by its light, you can enjoy peaceful moments throughout Todaya under this soft illumination.

We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.
