Kamisuwa Onsen Hamanoyu
Nagano Prefecture/Kamisuwa OnsenAn elegant Japanese-style retreat, quietly nestled with views of Lake Suwa.
Hamanoyu, a long-established Onsen Ryokan, is located in the heart of Kamisuwa Onsen. Enjoy authentic kaiseki cuisine featuring seafood delivered directly from Toyosu Market and seasonal Shinshu ingredients—an exceptional dining experience you won’t find elsewhere. Its convenient location is also a highlight, about a 5-minute walk to JR Kamisuwa Station and Lake Suwa. Spend a relaxing time by the shores of Lake Suwa.
Because we would be checking in late after watching the Takigi Noh performance at Misogi Shrine, we stayed for one night with breakfast only (no dinner). The Facility felt a bit dated in some details, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and welcomed and saw us off with wonderful smiles. The Nishikigoi carp and turtles swimming in the indoor pond also helped soothe our travel fatigue. We would love to stay again.Thank you very much.
がっきー3276 8/5/2026We stayed as a family on a breakfast-only Plan. Although the Accommodation seemed to have quite a lot of Rooms, it never felt overly crowded, including the large public bath, so we were able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. With both the main bath and the open-air bath, the total area is spacious and comfortable.Breakfast was exactly what you’d expect from a Ryokan breakfast, and we were very satisfied. The koi and turtles swimming in the lobby were wonderful. Keeping such a large building clean and well maintained must be challenging, but we would love to stay again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Human kindness and the warmth of nature
A 12-story Japanese-style retreat in a modern Sukiya design, quietly nestled just one street back from the lively lakeside. With the theme of “the kindness of people and the warmth of nature,” we offer heartfelt, warm hospitality so you can enjoy a truly relaxing stay.

Authentic kaiseki cuisine featuring ingredients from Shinshu and across the whole country
Enjoy authentic kaiseki cuisine crafted by our locally born Executive Chef. Featuring seasonal Shinshu ingredients such as wild mountain vegetables, river fish, highland produce, mushrooms, and Shinshu beef—along with fresh seafood delivered directly from Toyosu Market and carefully selected ingredients from The whole country—each dish is beautifully presented with thoughtful attention to plating and tableware. For rice, we use Koshihikari grown by our contracted farmers in Shinshu Azumino, a region blessed with nature and renowned for its exceptional flavor.

Room
We offer 58 Japanese-style and Japanese-modern Rooms, including Premium Suites with semi-open-air baths and special Rooms featuring a modern Japanese design, as well as 26 Western-style Rooms, mainly single Rooms.

Kamisuwa Onsen is a hot-spring town where 15,000 kiloliters of Onsen water gush out daily from as many as 300 sources, and it is used not only in private homes but also at the station, the lakeside park, and even highway service areas, which offer footbaths and public Onsen baths.

In the soaring lobby lounge, a waterfall cascades down, and colorful koi swimming in the pond soothe away the fatigue of travel.
