Kishigon Ryokan ~ Adjacent to Stone Steps Street, Rare Hot Spring "Golden Water" Inn ~

Gunma Prefecture/Ikaho Onsen

Founded in the Muromachi period, this long-established inn on the famous Stone Step Street invites you to enjoy the free-flowing “Kogane no Yu” hot spring.

A historic Ryokan established during the Muromachi period. Our pride is the Onsen, "Golden Hot Spring," featuring natural free-flowing spring water. This authentic Onsen boasts a unique tea-brown color and is rich in mineral deposits. After enjoying the Onsen, we recommend taking a stroll through Ikaho's famous Stone Steps Street.

  • Dinner was excellent, and I appreciated the thoughtful way it was served. While preserving the traditional Hotel building and the Room’s classic design, modern conveniences have been incorporated, and operations feel efficient and well managed. The staff also seemed very well trained.

  • I have visited Ikaho several times for Onsen-hopping, and this time I stayed at Kishigon, which I had wanted to try for a while.\n\nI really enjoyed visiting the three different baths. In particular, Gonzaemon-no-Yu had a wonderful atmosphere and became my favorite.\n\nWhen I visited Ikaho last time, I stayed at another Onsen Accommodation with the same Golden Hot Spring water, but it was disappointingly lukewarm, so I was a bit worried. However, at Kishigon the temperature was just right for me and it was excellent.\n\nThe view from the Room was great as well. At the post-bath lounge area (available only during certain hours), we could enjoy alcoholic drinks, and in the lounge we could have coffee.\n\nSince the stone steps are right in front of the Accommodation, it was easy to take a stroll after check-in or after dinner.\n\nOverall, it was great value—there were so many things to enjoy at a reasonable price.

Onsen and bath

Onsen and bath

Ikaho Onsen (Golden Source Water) is characterized by its unique reddish-brown color, caused by the oxidation of iron in the water when exposed to air. With a focus on the water and the view, there are a total of 13 baths, including the main building, detached buildings, bathhouse, and footbath, all utilizing 100% natural spring water.

History

Established in the fourth year of Tensho, this is one of the oldest properties in Ikaho Onsen.

At Ikaho Onsen, there are approximately over 60 Ryokans, among which three have been in existence for over 450 years, from the Muromachi period to the current Heisei era, that is, from the mid-16th century to the 21st century, and one of them is our establishment, "Kishigon Ryokan."

Before entry, we ask guests to sanitize their hands with alcohol, undergo a temperature check, and answer a brief health screening. If you feel unwell or have a fever of 37.0°C or higher, please follow the instructions of the relevant authorities. We also ask that you use alcohol sanitizer as needed during your stay. Staff also submit daily health reports and have their temperature taken and recorded upon arrival at work. Staff are not permitted to work if their temperature is 37.0°C or higher or if they have symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea (as part of norovirus prevention measures). ■ We regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces (doorknobs, elevator buttons, time clocks, telephone receivers, cash registers, keyboards, faucets/water taps, etc.). ■ We ventilate guest rooms, shared Facility areas/Facilities? Wait: "共用施設" -> shared facilities; but dictionary says Facility capitalized when refers equipment; We'll translate "shared facilities" maybe "shared Facilities". Use Facility per rule: Facility. We will output final clean text.
