Opening July 1, 2026, in Shizukuishi with views of Mt. Iwate.

A new Accommodation, “Gensen Ichizu,” is opening in the renowned Onsen town of Oshuku Onsen, with over 450 years of history, dedicated wholeheartedly to the power of its natural hot spring source. Enjoy an indoor bath and open-air bath with abundant water—about 50°C and 300 liters per minute—offered as true free-flowing hot spring water: no added water, no heating, no filtration, and no recirculation. The silky texture and gentle feel unique to this alkaline simple Onsen leave your skin smooth and refreshed. Guest rooms feature a Japanese-modern design with warm wood accents and calm tones (57 rooms total). Morning and evening buffets showcase Iwate’s seasonal flavors, including an impressive tuna carving show and a chance to try the local specialty “Wanko Soba.” From bathing to dining to thoughtful experiences, we deliver a one-of-a-kind hot spring source experience for all five senses—with unwavering dedication.

  • I’d been looking forward to the reopening! The food was absolutely delicious. There were plenty of vegetables, so it was well-balanced and healthy. The roast beef and seafood were fresh and high quality—you could really feel the attention to detail. The hot spring water was excellent, and I was able to relax and soak at my leisure.

  • In a place that makes you think, “Here?”, the exterior isn’t new, but the inside was clean and well kept. The Room had a fresh tatami scent and felt very comfortable. The hair dryers in both the bath area and the Room were ReFa, and my hair felt so smooth! The hot spring water had lots of mineral deposits and was amazing! The temperature was just right, too. The washing area has partitions for each person. I could relax while listening to the sound of the river. The fresh greenery was beautiful, and I’m sure autumn leaves would be stunning as well! After the tuna carving show, we received nakaochi (scraped tuna), and there were platters of sashimi like otoro and chutoro—everything was delicious. We didn’t have to clear our own plates; staff came around for us, and their smiles and service were excellent! The food was great! I was also thrilled with the large roast beef made from Tankaku beef. We could also try wanko soba for 1,000 yen—it was so much fun, and it tasted good too! It’s expensive at places like Azumaya, so I highly recommend doing it here. For welcome drinks, there were wine, draft beer, and soft-serve ice cream available in the lounge until 9:00 PM. What disappointed me was that although three of us stayed, only amenities for two were provided in the Room; there wasn’t a humidifier; and there wasn’t a basket to take things to the bath area—but overall it more than made up for it. They even prepared a birthday celebration plate for my daughter, which truly made her happy! There weren’t many foreign guests or children either, so we could unwind in a calm atmosphere. Highly recommended!
