  • The meals were truly outstanding. The sake pairings were also excellent. This is an Accommodation I definitely want to return to for the first time in a while.

  • The Room was clean, the bath temperature was just right, and every ayu dish at Japanese Restaurant En was outstanding. Just one thing: I understand the concept of encouraging guests to spend time quietly, but I think it would be better to have a TV available, even if only as a loaner.

Onsen Semi-Open-Air Bath Villa (Entire Private Rental)

The guest rooms and art curation are overseen by Koichi Uchida, a ceramic and sculptural artist who has traveled the world and mastered the essence of beauty, from crafts to antiques and contemporary art. The theme is "Sophistication" and "Authenticity." The black-toned design, resonating with the adjacent [ESHIKOTO], exudes tranquility and comfort. Our accommodations consist of three villa types, offering a total of eight uniquely themed rooms. From Echizen pottery and lacquerware representing Fukui's traditional arts to works by modern artists and folk crafts from around the globe, guests can immerse themselves in a harmonious blend of timeless artistry that embodies Japan's aesthetic sensibility rooted in the concept of "mitate" (reinterpretation).

BreakfastBreakfast is served at Apéro & Pâtisserie acoya, the restaurant inside ESHIKOTO, a facility next to “Kanshuku-en ESHIKOTO” that showcases Hokuriku culture centered on Fukui through sake. The menu is created by Chef Takumi Hamaya of “cadre.” With the themes of “balancing the body,” “regulating the breath,” and “calming the mind,” we offer a wholesome breakfast featuring locally sourced ingredients, including Fukui-grown Koshihikari rice cooked in a clay pot, with subtle French influences.

Spring quality and benefits

■Eiheiji Zen Onsen Sodium Chloride–Bicarbonate Spring (Hypotonic–Alkaline–Cold Mineral Spring)

This spring quality is said to remove old dead skin cells and smooth the skin, leaving it silky, and is known as one of the “Beauty Hot Springs.” It also washes away oils and secretions on the skin’s surface, promoting moisture evaporation and providing a refreshing, cooling sensation—hence it is also called the “Refreshing Hot Spring.”
