| About Hygiene Measures | [About the Satoyama Natural Environment and Stink Bug Prevention]
Thank you very much for your interest in “Onsen & Garden Nana,” a secluded retreat near Kanazawa, surrounded by clear streams and satoyama landscapes. Our Accommodation is located in a beautiful area where nature remains largely untouched. As a result of this rich natural environment, stink bugs may occasionally find their way into your Room.
We sincerely wish to provide every guest with a “perfect space,” but stink bugs have certain behaviors that are physically difficult to prevent completely, as outlined below.
● Stink bug behavior and why they enter
Through tiny gaps: They can flatten their bodies significantly, allowing them to slip through small openings such as window sash gaps or ventilation fans even when closed.
Hiding habits: They tend to hide deep in narrow spaces such as window sashes or fine cracks in beams, and may emerge from gaps even after cleaning.
Light and warmth: They are strongly attracted to nighttime lighting and the warmth of buildings, making complete prevention difficult.
Impact on people: When disturbed they emit a distinctive odor, but they are not poisonous and do not bite or sting.
● Our measures and requests
Thorough prevention: Under expert guidance, we apply repellents weekly, and our staff conducts careful final indoor checks right up until just before guests enter.
Keeping windows closed: To reduce entry, we kindly ask that you keep windows and doors closed during your stay.
Removal support: When staff are on-site, we will come promptly to remove them. Please do not handle them yourself—contact the front desk for assistance.
Late night / early morning (10:00 PM–7:00 AM): Staff are not available during these hours. We apologize for the inconvenience and kindly ask that you gently contain them using the provided tape if needed.
As this is an unavoidable aspect of staying in a richly natural satoyama environment, we would be grateful for your understanding when considering your Reservation. We look forward to welcoming you with thorough preparations. |
