With every deep breath, return to your true self.

“Doing nothing can feel this fulfilling.” A 200-year-old traditional farmhouse with a private open-air bath fed by free-flowing natural hot spring water. Dinner is a full-course meal, crafted over a wood fire with the day’s finest locally sourced ingredients selected by our chef. Unwind and let your mind and body relax at this hidden satoyama Accommodation with only three rooms.

  • What’s fascinating about Nana’s philosophy is how deliberately it reduces “information density.” Even with just a one-night stay, I could clearly feel the Accommodation’s concept:1) No excessive signage or posters inside 2) No filling the space with background music 3) Avoiding harsh lighting 4) Minimizing digital noise as much as possible Through the space, sound, light, and service, it conveyed the idea that “silence isn’t emptiness—it’s a state where only what’s necessary remains.” The staff were outstanding from the moment I pulled into the parking area until they saw me off the next morning.I believe this reflects an intentional design by the owners (a couple): creating a place to Clear people’s senses.5) The main focus is not “people,” but “place” and “nature” → Prioritizing “what you feel” over “who made it.” 6) A commitment to completing the Accommodation as a “work” → Only three rooms; no adding more Facility features. No indiscriminate advertising. → A mindset of “only those who understand need to come,” aligned with traditional house restoration values. You could say this is for travelers whose purpose is to feel restored and re-centered:7) Your body resets in the Onsen 8) Your senses reset through fire and food 9) Your mind resets through satoyama landscapes and an old folk house → Redefining travel from consumption to renewal. As tools for restoration, it offers free-flowing natural hot spring water, silence, an aesthetic space, and an Accommodation with high experiential value. → Not just “staying overnight,” but a trip where something changes.Nana’s philosophy feels almost perfectly aligned—its ideas and their realization overlap naturally. Among all the places I’ve stayed in Japan over the past few years, this was the best.In other words, choosing Nana—even for just one night—as a journey to re-center my senses and experience it as a complete work turned out exactly right. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Warm hospitality in a 200-year-old traditional home, preserving the memories of Okuhida

Relocated from Okuhida Onsenkyo, this 200-year-old traditional house—once used as a toy museum—has been thoughtfully restored, blending its rich history with refined modern design. Inside, the thick beams and pillars that have withstood Okuhida’s nature remain intact, while light and shadow quietly highlight the character of the wood. Our three guest rooms each have their own personality, unified by a simple design that embraces negative space and complemented by furnishings crafted by Hida artisans. With no television by design, the space invites you to turn your attention to the satoyama scenery beyond the windows and to a calmness often overlooked in everyday life. We also accept Reservations for exclusive use of the entire property. Enjoy a special stay with this 200-year-old house, Onsen, and the abundant satoyama nature all to yourself. We are happy to accommodate requests as flexibly as possible—please feel free to contact us. What we value most is warm hospitality tailored to each guest. Relax your shoulders and unwind in comfort, as if returning home.

An Accommodation where every room offers breathtaking views of Kanazawa’s satoyama countryside, the Asano River, and surrounding rural landscapes.

From every guest room, you can enjoy views of the Satoyama mountain range, the gentle murmur of the Asano River, and a peaceful rural landscape. The scenery shifts with the seasons, adding a quiet richness to your stay. Fresh spring greenery and cherry blossoms, lush summer greens, vibrant autumn foliage, and serene winter snow—each season unfolds like a natural drama just beyond your window. The flow of the Asano River soothes both mind and senses through sight and sound. Towering over the entrance approach is our large symbolic tree: a weeping cherry blossom featured in our logo. In spring, its breathtaking blooms cascade like a waterfall, welcoming you with grace and warmth.

  • [Experience Options] Relaxation Services and Activities *Please inquire in advance for Reservations.*

[Limited to 1 guest per day] Aroma Touch Body Care (60 min) ¥9,900

    What is Aroma Touch?
Eight essential oils are applied to the back and gently worked in with slow, careful strokes.

The soothing aroma and gentle touch help release a mind and body tightened by stress and fatigue.
Light contact on the skin also helps the brain relax.

Benefits when combined with Onsen bathing and meals
After warming up in the Onsen, blood circulation improves, allowing the effects of the essential oils to absorb more effectively. This is because the oils circulate throughout the body via capillaries. You will be relaxed before the treatment and can experience deeper physical and mental relaxation.
Also, receiving the treatment before a meal may help make digestion easier, as essential oil components can spread throughout the body—not only supporting the digestive system but also acting on internal organs and cells. This is because some of the essential oils used have digestive-supporting properties.

Herbal tea service after your session
A small gift: add your favorite essential oil to a potpourri sachet

    * Women only
    * Not available for guests who are pregnant

About Hygiene Measures
[About the Satoyama Natural Environment and Stink Bug Prevention] Thank you very much for your interest in “Onsen & Garden Nana,” a secluded retreat near Kanazawa, surrounded by clear streams and satoyama landscapes. Our Accommodation is located in a beautiful area where nature remains largely untouched. As a result of this rich natural environment, stink bugs may occasionally find their way into your Room. We sincerely wish to provide every guest with a “perfect space,” but stink bugs have certain behaviors that are physically difficult to prevent completely, as outlined below. ● Stink bug behavior and why they enter Through tiny gaps: They can flatten their bodies significantly, allowing them to slip through small openings such as window sash gaps or ventilation fans even when closed. Hiding habits: They tend to hide deep in narrow spaces such as window sashes or fine cracks in beams, and may emerge from gaps even after cleaning. Light and warmth: They are strongly attracted to nighttime lighting and the warmth of buildings, making complete prevention difficult. Impact on people: When disturbed they emit a distinctive odor, but they are not poisonous and do not bite or sting. ● Our measures and requests Thorough prevention: Under expert guidance, we apply repellents weekly, and our staff conducts careful final indoor checks right up until just before guests enter. Keeping windows closed: To reduce entry, we kindly ask that you keep windows and doors closed during your stay. Removal support: When staff are on-site, we will come promptly to remove them. Please do not handle them yourself—contact the front desk for assistance. Late night / early morning (10:00 PM–7:00 AM): Staff are not available during these hours. We apologize for the inconvenience and kindly ask that you gently contain them using the provided tape if needed. As this is an unavoidable aspect of staying in a richly natural satoyama environment, we would be grateful for your understanding when considering your Reservation. We look forward to welcoming you with thorough preparations.
