[Important] Apology and Notice: Early Implementation of a Smoke-Free Policy Throughout the Entire Accommodation
Dear Guests,
Thank you very much for your continued patronage of Ryotei Umenoya.
We had originally planned to make our entire Accommodation smoke-free starting in July 2026; however, in light of recent changes to the indoor environment, we have decided to implement a complete smoking ban throughout the building and across the entire property effective March 1, 2026.
We sincerely apologize for this short-notice announcement.
Due to structural limitations of the building, smoke from the designated smoking area we have maintained for many years can no longer be prevented from drifting into nearby guest rooms. As this has begun to seriously affect other guests’ health and comfort during their stay, we have made the difficult decision to enforce this policy immediately in order to preserve the quiet atmosphere expected of our long-established inn.
Accordingly, all ashtrays have been removed from both inside the building and anywhere on the property. We fully understand that this will cause significant inconvenience for guests who smoke, as there are no available smoking areas on-site or nearby.
We respectfully ask for your understanding and cooperation as we work to provide an Accommodation where all guests can enjoy a healthy and comfortable stay.
