Experience the luxurious space of 11 exclusive rooms, indulging in Japan's three ancient Onsen "Nanki Shirahama Onsen" and locally sourced gourmet cuisine.

When we ponder what truly makes a great journey, we arrive at the answer of authentic beauty—something that becomes more profound and meaningful the more you experience it, rather than just fleeting, glamorous moments. Through your travels, we hope you find inspiration and enjoy a mindful journey. With this sentiment in mind, "Kuroshio Sou" offers a total of 11 rooms: 8 Garden View Standard Rooms and 3 Corner Junior Suites. We feature a large public bath with natural hot spring water sourced directly from the Nanki Shirahama Onsen, as well as a private hinoki cypress bath where you can feel the essence of traditional Japanese beauty. For dining, we provide dishes crafted with local ingredients under the supervision of Chef Ryohei Hayashi from the Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant "Tenoshima" in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo.

  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama:To stay at Kuroshio Sou.When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was.It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish.Fishermen.Farmers.Brewers.Roasters.And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values.Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character.I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well.I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible.Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff—together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply:True hospitality is not just serving delicious food;it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。Thank you again from my heart.

  • It was a wonderful stay.Above all, the staff’s thoughtful care was incredibly attentive, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time beyond what I had imagined. Thank you very much. The meals and sweets made with plenty of local ingredients were absolutely delicious, and it really came through how much you value Wakayama—along with your connections to the local community. The original neighborhood map you created was also very appealing, and we used it to visit many places before and after our stay! When visiting somewhere unfamiliar, being able to experience the area in so many ways thanks to an Accommodation’s creative efforts is something I truly appreciate. To be honest, I would love to stay for a longer period, take my time walking around on my own feet, feeling the place, and simply enjoying each day—but in reality that isn’t always possible.Even within limited time, this stay allowed us to relax with someone important while also experiencing the destination through so many thoughtful touches. It was exactly my ideal trip, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I feel very happy.Next time, I’d like to bring my family and visit again. Thank you very much!
